I put it to you that if you suddenly got everything you wanted in RuneScape (or in real life, for that matter) you wouldn't be any happier. You wouldn't enjoy what you had nearly as much as when you had less stuff, but it was stuff you'd worked for. quote]

the stuff in bold... nah i think most people would be a lot happier, just not as happy as if they earned it themselves.

overall good article but i think you guys should make an article full of quotes from many different players instead of just one person maby once or twice...

This article poured out all my grievances against beggars...Really,someday RS should start banning them.

It really agitates me to see beggars saying...NEED FULL RUNE/R2H...If you NEED it so much,go work for it.Why would you need one anyway? It's not as if it's essential to have it...

There,my bottled up penny.

Nice article i hate beggars, im not a rich or wealthy person, i spend the last of my money in a full sara...still im think it was a bad idea to buy it...i pretty poor rite now...i should sell it, in anycase i agree that there should be some rule against beggars, you get annoing after 10 mins when someone follow saying "plz im poor free stuff"

my tactic for beggers is lie to them; tell them to turn on accept aid then teleother them where "they can get lots of money" i find lumby very fitting. THE place for noobs of all lvls.

however if u happen to have lunars on u then tele them to waterbirth island, boy does it annoy them.

That is the best idea I have ever heard. I'm not even rich in the game and iget begged for money. I have 50k. I had people on my friends list who i was training with and stuff ask how much i have. I told em and since then it was "gimme 5k" thats a lot of coal mining and smithing into steel. They dont get that others work HARD to get the levels to make what they make

*claps* Very nice article, finally someone else who feels the same as me! While I occaisonally feel like having fun and messing around with people, I'll log onto my level 108 and start begging for stuff, then when someone notes how sad it is, I put on my full gilded&whip. :-D Its funny to see their reactions. Everyone likes to have fun and mess with people once in a while... at least everyone in my reality. I like to be kind to beggars once in a while. Not often. But sometimes. Bye to anyone who bothered to read this.

Nice one Editor! =D>

All that is just what I would say about begging. Most new players that come to RuneScape think that they can easily get the items that they need or it's very easy to make money, but it's not like that at all. You need to EARN your money, like working on your skills and sell your items to a person. When someone comes up to me saying "Can I have some free stuff please", I respond by saying "Work on your skills, that's how I earned my money".

It seems that when a "noob" asks for free stuff, they don't realise that they are very unlikely to get anything in the end and they are just wasting time when they could be training on thier skills earning money, that really annoys me. =;

No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.

Well I mostly agree with the article, but not completely, if this were an adult game i would wholeheartedly agree with editor but think about this, most of this beggars don't pretend to offend or bother or anything, they're simply young kids, guys from 8 to 12 who just know one way to get things in life, ask for them to parents or relatives ... if you would see them in real life you would all probably feel not so tempted to get angry

That of course doesn't mean you have to feel pity and give them anything, life is hard, the earlier they learn it the easier they'll accept it :mrgreen:

If beggars drive you crazy/annoy you etc.

Use the ignore function Jagex put into the game, that's why it's in there.

Jeez, people seriously need to get off their high horse here.

5 dollars right here, half the people who hate beggars right here have begged at least once during their RS career.

its exactly what i tell people all the time... too many people opn this game act as if every level 100+ didnt start out exactly where they are now... darn it we worked hard for everything we have and everything we have lost and i sware nothing gets my blood boiling like someone typeing "105 freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee stufffffffffffffffffffffffffff plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" i sware it makes me really wish there wasnt a level restriction to the wilderness cause i would take them right out.... the excuse "i have been hacked i need anything please" doesnt work ether, i have been hacked... a few times actually and never once did i even think about begging for money...i grabed my trusty pickaxe and when mining coal/iron/anything... now... that doesnt mean i dont belive in charaty. i occasionaly see a fellow runescaper working hard, be it fishing, mining, killing monsters, i go over and talk with them see what they really want normaly its like "im saving up for a rune schimmy, im halfway there i have 15k saved up" so i may just accedently drop a runeschimmy on the ground right next to them =D it brightens there day ans they remember it down the line when they see someone doing exactly when they were doing back then. thats my 2 1/2 cents =\

Yes,unfortunetly it's a sad reality of Runescape, beggars. But why are we making such a fuss over it?

Most of the time people ask me to give them stuff i find it amusing, not annoying. After all, what can they do?Just follow you. Will that hamper your normal activities? No.

So they pm you.Just ignore them or say "no",always worked for me.And i always keep my chat on.

Alas! An article about the beggars of RS.

Most of this is based around the instant gratification of basically all the ingame aspects people are wanting

You could've also mentioned the Lumbridge guides for 'free' items, but overall the article was worth reading.

Items are nothing unless you have put effort into getting them, and taking face value of everything and everyone is the worst way of perception.

A mention of how utterly stupid the "Private Servers" are with the spawning of any item that would be wanted.(I may try pitch a few articles about these in the soon future).

Thanks for the article Mr/Mrs Editor.

Very nice article. One of the best and most useful I've seen, as a matter of fact. Not a day goes by without someone begging me for free stuff. I'm level 81 (soon to be 82), and have full zammy. I'm constantly being flooded with trades when I go near a bank. When I click "Accept", they end up just standing there with an empty trade screen. When I ask them why they wanted to trade with me, they say "Free stuff plz! I was hacked!1" or "I buy ur legs! Plz sell!1".

Beggars are like the vermin of Runescape. Everyone is annoyed by the too common "Phr33 st00f pl0x?", and constant trade flooding. I believe that Jagex should post an article similar to this (or the same one), in the Runescape Homepage where they list the recent updates. If not that, they should tell players that "begging isn't a good thing to do" in that little box at the bottom of the opening screen once you log on. If we're lucky, that might actually reduce the number of beggars, even if only by a fraction.

Great article. Keep it up. :)

2. 15 character pass? This is information you SHOULDN'T give out. Makes it easier for someone to guess your pass if they know the length of your pass. Think of the billions of possibilities they could skip.

True, but also think that even if you use ordinary letters, A-Z, the number of combinations is 26^15. Thats......a lot. Over one and a half trillion billion combinations.

Yet, 26^15 (36^15( = 221.073.919.720.733.357.899.776, about 221 sextillion) when numbers are included) is nothing compared to the normal amount of possibilities which is about:

36^5 + 36^6 + 36^7 + 36^8 + 36^9 + 36^10 + ... + 36^18 + 36^19 + 36^20

-->naamlooslg0.gif

36^15 divided by naamlooslg0.gif isn't alot, believe me \'
