Anyways, I'd assume everyone knows by now that Rumsfeld has resigned as the Secretary of Defense, and that Robert Gates will be taking his position. link: http://news.bostonherald.com/politics/v ... eid=166361 People have been calling for his resignation a long time now. Yeah, but then you get all the lefties saying "Oh, hes just doing it to swing votes and yadda yadda and appeal to moderates" w/e. Its not like it would have mattered, mid-terms have almost nothing to do with the secretary of defense, its all voted on municipal and state levels. Im sure the administration has been planning this for a while, just waiting until after the elections to avoid election connections. IMHO he's a great man who has demonized in the press and by the democrats for no good reason other than plain politics while we are at war with people who want to kill all of us infidels. More-so, I supported Rumsfeld in the beggining of his time in office, but found it incredibly hard to do so near the end. I too felt that he should have stepped down, and was disappointed when President George Bush said Rumsfeld would remain. I was relieved to see that Rumsfeld had stepped down a day after the mid term elections. His time was over, he had gotten America in quite a mess, and he knew it. It was incredibly unfortunate, but I still respect him. Things are sure changing in the US. For Democratic leadership, I wonder if they'll elect a black man, or a woman! Although I know that Obama ruled out any possibility of him standing in '08 and Im not sure about Clinton. However, the latest I've heard is that he is seriously considering it. When did he say that he will certainly not run? Was it recently?
