The first step to moving on, is admitting your problem.

There are few cases where it is appropriate to place a comma between a subject and verb, and this is not one of them.

Not to mention that the phrase is "the first step to recovery..." :P

I find that very annoying. I got in a flame yesterday about someone who was doing it in-game. It's alright if you say like "hey man, lets go to fally and get sum money, merchanting." But not if "Hey mn, wnna go 2 fally n gt sum $$ by merching?" It's hard to understand. :notalk:

I like grammar nazi's, but not the crazy ones that will go on about like college english stuff that noone cares about.
No apostrophe plox

Capitalize the E in English and separate "noone."

The period comes after the quotations.

I don't mind if people don't use correct grammar or not. As long as I can read it it's fine with me. :)

Are you sure? Because I thought that punctuation always went under quotations.

Not in this case, if the subject being quoted is a full sentance you would give it's according punctuation. Ex: Who was it who said: "The Bigger they are, the harder they fall?" the punctuation is inside the quatation because the subject is a question.

Actually, according to both The Associated Press Stylebook and Elements of Style, commas always go inside quotation marks.

Too bad that's a period, not a comma.

I guess I'm a Grammar Nazi too... not on the forums, though. Just to my friends. Especially on double-consonant words, their/there, too/to/two, and you're/your. Those are my favourite. >.>

Spelling mistakes bug me. I hate when you see signs in windows with the wrong kind of To or something. Bogus.

I don't think everyone needs perfect grammar, however. ;P Sentence fragments and all that tend to lighten the mood a bit. I've already used one in this post! Yay! (There's two!)

As long as a post is readable, it's fine. I just ask they spell the words right. Don't wanna use punctuation? Oh well. Just make it readable.

AND ABOUT WALLS OF TEXT...

>.>

I'm not really a grammar Nazi on the computer, as I still use such acronyms as 'lol' and 'g2g'. I am a grammar Nazi in real life though. I always correct my friend's to a point where they tell me to Shut up. It's quite funny actually, because they get extremely upset and mad :D. My little way of being annoying.

I sometimes correct people but only when it's really bad.

Fad, it's like this: "Like this or like this?". Do you notice the difference in spelling? There is also no comma before the or, and there is no slash marks before the question mark.

I will let you correct the last sentence for practice.

Ok, let's see who can spot all the mistakes in this post of mine.

The other day, I saw a sign that read 'lets go team!'. I liked it alot, it was very colorful, and glittery and cherful. One of the girl said to me, "hey how are you?". I said back, "Good, you"?

She said to me, "cool".

I said back, thanks"!

It was after scool that I therefore; had to do my homework. It sucked. I hated it, it was boring... My brother came in the room. He told me "Your stupid. I hate you--"

I cutted in, "Ah, you are the stupid one".

He left, he had, to do alot of homeworks.

I finnished my home work, and went to bed!.

Correct it.

First, Darkmage099. Thx for the practice.

As this is most likely a statement, it makes more sense to put a period instead of a question mark.

It was after school that I had to do my homework. It was awful. I absolutely hated it. It was incredibly boring. My brother then came into the room. He screamed at me, "You're stupid! I hate you-"

I then cutted in, "Ah, you are the stupid one."

He preceeded to leave to do a lot of homework.

I finished my homework and went to bed!

Anyways, you capatalized the 'A', in 'ah'. Pretty good other than that.

I don't complain if someone doesn't use the correct grammar, but I just can't take a person typing leik diz srsly. It just looks like it's written by a 9-year-old. Though the minor things don't annoy me that much.

And I'm not saying I have perfect grammar myself, 'cause I'm foreign. (finnish)

practically living on pure clan websites I am used to people typing "0mfg totially p00ned n99b lyk i owned yluo!!!one!!1111ONE"

i cannot stand them personally. (grammar nazis) it's the internet, i don't think we need proper grammar to get/understand people's points or views. as long as it's understandable i have no objection. my grammar blows to begin with. at my university when i turn in essays, the teachers' final comments usually include something like "extremely well written, i recommend putting this into a writing contest. HOWEVER, your grammar needs a lot of work"

so all the technicalities of english plague my writing...bleh <.<

The problem is that you understand that type of writing no problem because you're use to it - but not everyone is. It is inconsiderate to make people work at figuring out what you're trying to say.

Your teacher tells you that your papers are well written but have poor grammar? That doesn't make any sense.

meaning...i conveyed my points effectively. my grammar has mistakes in the :technicalities" not with like...periods, comma use, etc. I suffer when it comes to the order of words.

for example: "I have also" "I also have"

which one is correct? I wouldn't know to be honest with you

and this post was not written grammatically correct, nor did i try to.
