runemetsa
I never understood why schools should be closed when it snows? Where I live (finland) we have to go to school, no matter if there's like -50 degrees. Only concession we get is that if it gets colder than -29 celcius, we don't have to go outdoor for breaks if we don't want to. Don't you have snow plows over there? Usually ice reasons, cars + ice = bad idea. studded tires? Does something like this exist in Europe? info [Star Wreck][PM me][My gallery][DeviantArt][Cool T-shirts!][iron Sky - Trailer is now out!]
Viktorkrum77
^Definitely Finnish, the name gives it away. I don't know enough about tires to say if they do or don't have this here in America. Me doing staff.

However, not every school system would close or open at this time. Right now, most of the schools or colleges have finished their term or semester. If there's an important snowfall, thunderstorm, or non-stop heavy rain, then there's likely to take consideration of canceling classes or the school day. In private schools and in some provinces, the administration won't allow to close the college unless there's an ice storm like weather (my old highschool only closed once due of that weather few years ago.) -=Aznhuskarl=- Cleric-=20Cent=- JuggernaughtMore to come... darkmage099
It snows about every other year in Atlanta...well enough to make schools close down. It's burning hot over here right now. Fadfdfd
We have A LOT of rain right now. It's pouring out, pretty much started at 2:35 when I got out. (it's 3:15 now). Anyway, we're promised snow on Monday, but probably not enough to cancel, possibly a delay though. :P
ThurinEthir
Man, still no snow here in Boston and it's December!! I think it's supposed to snow tomorrow or something, but it probably won't. Runemetsa - It isn't how cold it is, it's how much snow there is. I believe it has to be more than 6 inches here in order for it to be a snow day. It's probably more in colder places. Anyways, we have blizzards here every year. 18 inches. It buries our cars. The sidewalks. I think part of the reason we have snow days is so the kids can help shovel...Lol... I remember when the Red Sox signed Curt Schilling, his son was saying "Daddy, there are snow days here!". (Schillling played for the ARIZONA Diamondbacks before playing for the Sox. Do they have snow days in Arizona?) Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. Lionheart_0
I live in Hamilton (hour away from Toronto) and we have had so much rain, the streets downtown were flooding, and water was going over the escarpment. People have had to evacuate their homes, and people are going around the street down there on boats (seen it on the news). This is Canada, we aren't spoused to get rain in December >. speedofsound
No snow up here :( We were promised snow sometime this weekend but right now it's about 32 F and clear skies. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you." deloriagod
I live in Eastern Iowa. We had some freezing rain on Wednesday night but not bad enough to get out of school. As of right now, I really don't want any snow days this year. I'm really enjoying school this year (even though I'm just paying attention to friends, not the school work).
