people who overly trust people should they get scammed?

Featured Replies

I'm asking this question because I know some one on runescape who trusted some one they only knew in rs not even in rl for 2 weeks with 4.7M

well this person was scammed and they almost quit because of being scammed...Now I am wondering this because if this person was stupid enough to trust another person they don't even know in rl and they have only known this person for 2 weeks should my friend have known that this was a possible scam and should not be complaining about it? :-k

put the lime in the coconut spin it all round

faith shouldnt be punished but stupidity should be.

your friend, big on faith, a lil lacking in the intelligence department. should have waited a while, of course some people get scammed from friends they known for over 2 years.

Very true indeed, I called him a idiot after he told me he was scammed and I said to him that only a true idiot would trust someone with that much money if they've only known the for 2 weeks.

No one deserves to be scammed, but as jessy said he is partly to blame for trusting someone so readily.

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

real trust is hard to find nowadays especially on games like these where everyone is really greedy and just wants to be the best, Personnelly the only people i trust on runescape is people i know irl! ::'

There's a discussion about walls of trust, which has to do with this topic found Here in the rants forum

I don't think the trusting deserve to be scammed. The only reason scams exist is because there is no (effective) "police force" in Runescape. Under normal circumstances such antisocial behavior should be punished severely.

I got scammed by a "friend" who I had been talking to with more than a year..

Well apparently, you shouldn't trust anyone you've known for 2 weeks

But anyways, if you have a friend who scams you, you should start choosing your friends more wisely. :|

IMHO no one deserves to be scammed/hacked, but if someone is stupid enough to give 4.7m to a person s/he has known only for 2 weeks... Well, im not saying s/he deserves to be scammed, but..

Blah, i dont know :?

Pixels make me horny.

It's a sad world if people should be punished for trusting someone else.

Yes, it wasn't very smart, pretty stupid actually. But stupidity, like trust, is not something that people should be punished for. I mean, that's like punishing a man with a wooden leg for not being able to run a marathon or putting that robbing from old ladies is perfectly OK, 'cos they shouldn't combine bad running skills with high heels and a huge purse.

So, yes, it wasn't a smart move. Yes, your friend should have seen the scam coming, but it still does not excuse the scammer in any way.

Hmm, a "friend" of mine scammed my 100M \'

Knew him for over a year, close friends. He had a good status as a Phat merchant.

I logged in one day during my 3 month break, and he asked if he could borrow 100M to merchant enough money to buy him and his Bro a Phat each. I wasn't too bothered about losing 100M even if he decided to scam me, since this was a moment in time when I was bored of RS.

I came back, after weeks of asking if he's ready to pay me back, I realise that he isn't actually going to pay me back.

And there, my advice - NEVER trust anyone in RS unless you know where they live ;)

Oh and yes, it is partly my fault that I got scammed, since I trusted him.

Now I know, the majority of RS players:

Pixels make me horny.

A so say "friend" on mine asked me to borrow 150k to buy a pair of rune legs(g), to complete a set, and once he sold the set he would give me my money back, but of course I never seen the money again...

Since then I have spoken to other of his so say "friends", and he has also borrowed money and item from them, and never paid them back...

Now in a way I am glad that I found out this guy (for the measly cost of 150k), as it could have cost me a whole lot more, as I would have trusted him with more...

You could understand a so say "friend" doing a runner with 100 mil (wealth does that to people), but lose a group of friends for a few 00k.

Well I just don't understand people...

This guy is a succesfull pker and has the stats to make plenty of money, so it is not as if he couldn't have made money easy...

Wish I could name and shame... :wall:

Although it's a shame people would steal other people's money, I see what you mean; they should be smarter than just give their money away to supposedly trusted people. You can never know.

I think most of the people being scammed are little kids.

They have yet to learn that lesson...

Sole blame goes to the scammer, but you need not pity the scammed since it is a game and everything can be won back.

He just successfully trolled you with "courtesy" and managed to get a reaction out of you. Lol

Its amazing how dumb some people are, Ive had a lot of friends who got scammed. The problem is, after getting scammed, they come beg at me to give them like 10m, lame -.-

You should apply the same rules as you would for taking things into the wilderness: If you are not willing to lose it, don't take/loan it.

Or think of it this way, give it to the person without expecting it back. That way you can be surprised by them rather than disappointed.

WARNING: Prone to ramble ... but you probably already know that!

I have a friend in real life who constantly asked me to borrow my whip, and I flatout refused because another of my friends had claimed that he was scammed by that player. That, and I don't trust anyone with anything... except maybe a Spade...

Exactly. Always give, never lend. If you are in a position to provide a 'friend' with something they profess to need, and you can afford to give it to them, then (If you feel happy about it) do so, if not then explain your reasons and withold your generosity. If they really are a 'Friend', your generosity will be repaid - probably with interest, if not then you have cost yourself some money, but saved some time and future money by revealing to yourself a 'non-friend'.

Why is 'common sense' so named, when there is so little of it about?

Welcome to puberty, we've been expecting you.

Obviously they shouldn't be scammed... But if they haven't grasped the idea of jagex's advertising against scamming and rule-breaking or simply missed it nor have not enough logic to not fall on it, what is there to do? At least you can hope they learn from their mistakes.

I useally use calatorall system (or however its spelled)

i also wouldn't agree that someone trusting should get punished for it
