Christmas Eve...Begging Eve?(discuss)

Featured Replies

Today, I've seen at least 6-10 topic about people getting scammed and asking for donation. Sure, its time of the season of giving and sharing, but isnt it a bit too much for one day? Before, max I see is 2 topic about them in 1 day. Whats your thought about this madness?

EDIT: No offense for people who actually got scammed, but so much in one day is..strange.

I'M SO EMO HAHAHAHAHAHA

I've also noticed that theres a lot more of the "I got scammed" topics these past few days. Interesting... :-k

Edit: 1100th post \'

Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.

That's exactly it. Christmas is about giving, not recieving. If beggers had half-a-brain, they would realize that begging isn't not giving to others (Unless you count giving out annoyance and distraction <.< ), so they are just killing the christmas spirit. But, beggers are beggers, and they aren't going anywhere. Our only solution for now is to turn off public chat.

I must say I was disappointed to see the amount of beggars that popped up as the holidays came close in game. Many of the ones I kindly declined to give a present were angry and showed their darker colours... Wasn't a pleasant experience.

And walking around you see people going

"Do you have any presents for me?"

"Xmas is about giving, please give to me"

"Give to the poor this Xmas"

etc.

I find it pretty sad that people will stoop that low

I'm pretty much against begging/asking for donations under any circumstances. Then again, that's probably just my striking determination to do everything myself showing through :P I also have noticed a large [bleep]e in the amount of threads regarding donations. Certainly takes away the true Christmas spirit :P

I agree. Someone gave me an orange salamander (that they got from some other kind soul in the bank), hoping that I'd return the favor and give him something. That's just plain rude. -.-

Yeh, once again, people want something in return. Xmas is about giving, he chose to give the salamander.

That's terrible -.- Another thing that bugs me is when someone gives you a friendly gift or donation. Then a couple weeks later, they use your lack of giving to them as an "I owe you" and demands something from you in return because they "gave you a present last month!"

If that makes any sense :anxious:

One word is enough: Terrible.

People don't see this events as giving and sharing.

They only think about 2 words: "Begging" and "Getting".

Really ruins the christmas for most people.

And indeed, yesterday was worse.

I almost get every day some begging, yesterday, it was a nightmare!

The one stopped and another one started following!

Also had a pm of someone who wanted to be friendly and went handing out gifts in Lumbridge.

But all those people wanted more, so he stopped since he didn't find it fun.

hmm yes i did notice this, but i actually found a little of the xmas spirit.

i was just chillin in a bank, bored out of my mind. some people behind me were talkng behind me whilst they were alching. one of them were telling the other about how all his friends were begging him for stuff since he had raised a fair few combat levels, and how frustrating this had become. So, as a joke i walked up to this person and said 'z0mg i gotz hax0r3d, phr33 st00f plox?!?11?'

i began to walk away, expecting this person to either laugh, or get even more annoyed. but to my amazement, i received a trade. I had been given, free of charge, a rune axe. now i know, a rune axe is nothing. but i was in shock. i did not realise there were actually people who helped others, as i have been a f2per for a fair while.

so this story of mine is evidence of some good in the rs community, other then the good ppl at tif of course <3:

The people of runescape have no christmas spirit.

I gave free iron in f2p to newbs as an elf, and what do I get?

"OMG GREEN DUDE GIMME MORE STUFF"

"PHr33 ST00F"

"TRADE ME SO U CAN GIVE ME MORE STUFF"

Not even a single ty. <.<

And then, after that, I walk into the bank to get, "OMG ITS CHRISTMAS U SCRUGE GIMME STOOF!"

Really, to that, all I can reply is "Bah, Humbug!"

^dude i know what you mean, but im guessing you were in f2p?

Thread terminated.

I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator?

I think I spent over 100k on people who kept pestering me in draynor. I really didn't mind giving out that much stuff, but a thank you would kind of be nice :|

I agree the begging was so bad in the banks these last few days.

I shut my public chat off. :( At one point I had 4 people following

me around and the lag was horrible. I logged out. :(

The thing is you give these people free stuff and still they want more .

Not even a simple thank you was given to me. <.<

queenvalerie.png

I got lucky. For 10 sets of iron given out to beggars, I received three very nice thank-yous.

But only three... <.<

simpleholyhandgrenade.gif

I went to f2p and was giving free gifts (Didn't SAY I was giving out free stuff but I was watching for people)

I gave one to one person and after giving it to him he said he wanted more.

But there was one hope that f2p isn't full of monsters :o Saw this girl who seemed to be nice (lvl 19). I traded her and put up 2000 willow logs and pressed accept, she declined and said "I can't burn them yet" - When any other person would have gladly taken anyway. So I gave her 50k instead and she had a fit and started yelling "I have 100k now!!" and was showing everyone her 100k lol. of course thanked me though

^dude i know what you mean, but im guessing you were in f2p?

yep

Back when I started (Like almost 2 years ago :P )

I was very happy then, and not only me, with Iron armor. And at lvl 30+ I was so glad what I had a Steel Kiteshield for free!

Nowadays, people seem to find it 'normal' to get stuff.

And as greedy as they are, they just want more, more and more!

Help me

No.

its nice if you give out gifts, but it gets kinda annoying like what curly's saying. at the christmas bash, there were tons of people going "i wanna santa" "give me something good!" i didn't really get anything good but im not complaining.
