January 11, 200719 yr I value a hamster's life just as much as anyone else's If you were driving a car and on one side of the road was a hamster, and on the other side a toddler, you and me both know you wouldn't even consider hitting the toddler :P Well, no. :P I'd hit the hamster - not because I don't value his life, but because I very very much doubt the hamster's parents/family would suffer from his death. However the toddler's family would be completely devastated over their loss and suffer for a long, long time.
January 11, 200719 yr I would be devastated but I'd have to have hammy put down. :( As many of you have said, they have a short lifespan anyway. My last hamster, Bob, cost me ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã50 when she escaped from her cage and chewed through the wires to the building's security alarm. The Poison Fairy
January 11, 200719 yr Why does everyone believe life to be so precious and invaluable anyways? Billions of creatures are born and die every single day on this Earth. It's the cycle of things. If a hamster ate an eraser and is going to die...Then he's going to die. Paying $2100 to save a hamster is like playing a trillion dollars out of pocket to save myself. No thanks, I'd rather die. :P Our vet wanted us to pay almost a grand to operate on our dog's heart (it was failing) so the dog could live a few extra DAYS maximum. We were like, "Uhhh...No. Just put her down." And for good reason. It just isn't worth it. The dog was literally laying in her bed crapping all over herself. Would you want to be alive a few more days? The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!

Most people at my middle school think it's cruel to put an animal down over money, but obviously their eyes have not opened to the real world. There is the input, (cost in this case) and output (the results). Obviously the input is not worth the output, althought stupid people would start saying you're mean, you might as well tell them they're ignorant. Anyways, editting main post out, watch out for changes.

If so then I'd probably improvise.I'd give it to rocketman089's sister :D Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. January 12, 200719 yr Put it down. I don't care if I sound shallow, it's just a hamster. If it was my dog i'd definatly put that money up for it though. Geeze, its just because you dont have a hamster. Youd want ot save your dog, because you love your dog, if you had a hamster, youd be the same.

Geeze, its just because you dont have a hamster. Youd want ot save your dog, because you love your dog, if you had a hamster, youd be the same. Haha, are you serious? Hamsters show little to no emotional attachment. I mean, what do you need to do to keep it living? Water and food. Not only that, they live for, what? 1~2 years? If you do get so attatched to it, it'd be after a long period of time, so you'd only let it live as long as you've already known it. Dogs require much more attention. They need to be walked/kept active, trained and that's along side feeding, drinking and insurance. If we talk about the same timeline, say the dog was still a puppy at 1~2 years, i'd much rather pay for the costs - the dog would still have a healthy life ahead of it (depending on breed), around 10 years. But if the dog was nearing the end of it's life, then i'd possibly - reluctantly - choose to put it down.
January 13, 200719 yr My sister hamster got really sick in September. The procedure to heal it was $210. Instead of that, we gave it to a a group of young medical students who practice on the hamster. So they just euthanized(sp?) it..

January 13, 200719 yr Put it down. And if the 3 people are guranteed to only live a few more years, than I wouldn't give them any money apart from some money for the one family to feed their children, but a $1000 should cover that. If they could live an extra 50 yrs+ and this was their only option, than maybe. Depends if they are trying, if they want the money just handed to them, and aren't trying, then they can die. Me doing staff.

January 13, 200719 yr 1. I would let the hamster die as i don't get too attached to hamsters. 2. I would keep the million dollars why pay a million just for someone to have 3 more years of life. Anyway I would not spend the million to increase a life for 3 years even if it was myself, thats unless I was going to die really soon.

Old person is retired, middle-aged is working, child is in school, unless I'm missing something... or was I suppose to say you're unsure, hmmm... w/e just go with the above. January 14, 200719 yr Right, the second dilemma..... I'm afraid I'm going to be selfish now and say that I wouldn't pay for any of the 3 operations listed. I wouldn't use all of my money on someone I don't have a connection to. If they were a friend/relative of mine, obviously I would pay up without hesitation. There are other people in the world who could afford to help these others out. Plus, I hate begging letters, so I probably wouldn't have even read their emails/letters. The Poison Fairy
January 17, 200719 yr Author Dang, you guys are hard to break, or answer the way I would've expected. Now new question.

I have to agree. $1,000,000 is a lot to give up if it means the person (who you don't know) is only going to live a few extra years. But like you said, if it's a friend or family member I wouldn't hesitate to put up $1,000,000 to save their life. Internet Marketing For Newbies

January 17, 200719 yr How about we change the amount to something like 200-300 hundred? Then we might be able to get some different responses. If I was going to spend $2100 on saving some sort of life I would try and find a better use for it.
