I actually found my self sprinting to the bath room, taking a super fast wizz and sprinting back just so i wouldnt have to type my 30 character password again only to sit down, and watch the log in screen appear, (LITERLY JUST AS MY BOTTOM HITS THE CHAIR)

The other few MMOs that i play dont have any type of auto log feature, but then again, they are downloaded to your computer and have gaurds to protect against autoers, and one of them does not have any type of "random" to stop autoers, just GMs to patrol.

Why should someone be obligated to click every minute when say making something as time consuming as cannonballs, iron ore, or fletching?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They should at least up the auto-log time to 5 or 10 seconds over the longest skill related option, which im guessing is making 27 bars worth of cannonballs (which is over a minute).

ive got a great idea, instead of randoms killing you there should be something called "sleep mode" where after a 1 minute and 30 seconds you go into sleep mode where your character cant be attacked and he stops whatever he or she is doing and your screen dims(like the xbox 360). Then ounce the mouse is moved again it automatically goes out of sleep mode.

Afking or away from the keyboard is illegal in Jagex's eyes. I mean, for all saying you want to expel bodily fluids, you can log out for 40 seconds. For me, I log out even though I got a wee bladder. Takes me a good 5 to 10 seconds to expel, 20 seconds to rinse and lather my hands in good soap. I drink too much water, goes right through my system.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

No need to rush back and forth between bathrooms, for all your solutions. May I suggest a computer in the bathroom? Maybe even a phone, don't even have to get up. Just sitting there all day long... I like to walk around a bit, do a few laps around the house. Sitting all day makes you get cramps so get up. No need to run either. Take your time, log out when needed to.

I dont think jagex should get rid of the auto log out, I just think they should increase it to 4, or even 5 minutes... Getting rid of it would be horrible. Especially when your mom comes running into the room screaming at you to clean up your closet. Dont want a random to come killing us while you're upstairs, now do we?

Yes, It is a bit strict, id up it to around 45 seconds

Its a reasonable time, I used to have a laptop that constantly overheated, and I am definitely happy that it logs me out when the computer turns off from the heat.

I think people should just learn to click the log out button and we won't have the auto logging pain, although what if your internet or computer crashes? Then your character just sits there...

Also to prevent this, just open two windows and have the forum browsing window just small enough so that you can see your character cooking or the amount of lobs you have left to cook. It shouldn't be too hard.

well, most other mmorpg's dont have "stuff" that you lose when u die (i know that in WOW your stuff just degrades) but what if u lag-out when you are at metal drags (i know i have before, and thanks to auto-log, i didn't lose any of my ahrims or the d skirt drop i got) your char would go on fighting them until your potion ran out and they slowly killed you with fire breath. Personally, i think auto log out has more up than downs (yes, it IS annoying at times).

And auto-logout is fine... what I really wish there was, was a feature that when the applet lost connection with the client you would be logged out immediately, even if you were in combat... but that could get abused by people X'ing out the window. Hmm... we'll think of something.

Most other MMO's don't have quite as many autoers as well. From Jagex's point of view, the auto-logout is an effective way to hinder the macroers without having to add in more random events.

If I'm not paying attention and almost dead and the game logs me out. I like that, but if I'm fine and cutting trees, not paying attention for minute and it logs me off, it makes me mad.

From all the reading, people seem to think about afking...I dont afk, I get indulged(sp) into a good topic(like this one), and i forget about the rs screen, and next thing i know...i'm logged out(and it can't be too terribly long that i'm not at the rs screen)

I believe that there should be a small increase to the auto log-out time for the people who do tend to multi task. 30 > 20
