So, uhm, yeah, been an 80 for... 3 weeks now, got my full T9 in a week, got in my first ICC10 last week, and my first ICC25 an hour ago, all stopped after Saurfang, and other than trinkets, NO HUNTER LOOT.

 

Is that normal :( ?

 

Oh, and (seeing that Im a noob here), what spell is it that makes pallies immune to everything? It happens to me a lot. Hell, I ran from one workshop to another in WG after some pally that I viper stung to the point that he had no mana (AKA no healing), had to wait a while until I could finally get my Kill Shot going, fortunately, that killed him.

Alright, lets see here.

 

One, yes it is typical to not see your loot drop. Being a Hunter you use gear that is also in-demand by many other classes, so gearing will be a slightly painful process though. Stick with it though, repetition and dedication leads to rewards. Also your best bet is to find a good raiding guild, or a beginner raiding guild since you are new to raiding. A PuG run (formed in Trade Chat usually with random people) will rarely do as well as a guild, and stopping after Saurfang is pretty typical for one.

 

The Paladin spell you encountered is called Divine Shield. It grants complete immunity to all effects, removes all debuffs, and can only be removed by a Priest's Mass Dispell or a Warrior's Shattering Throw. While they have it up they are immune to pretty much everything but only deal 50% damage for 12 seconds. This has a 5 minute cooldown on it. Paladin's also have the Hand of Protection spell. While the Divine Shield simply looks like a bubble, HoP can be identified by a giant crown that will appear over the Paladin. It lasts for 10 seconds and the Paladin can cast this spell on others. While under the effects of HoP, the Paladin or their target is immune to physical damage but cannot perform any physical action (they can still cast). Paladin's also have a third bubble spell called Divine Protection, which reduces their damage taken by 50% however they still deal maximum damage. To sum it up:

 

Divine Shield: Total immunity, 50% reduced dealt damage, 12 seconds. Can only be cast on self.

Hand of Protection: Total physical immunity, cannot perform physical actions, 10 seconds. Can be cast on allies.

Divine Protection: 50% reduced damage taken, 12 seconds. Can only be cast on self.

 

Each ability has a 5 minute cooldown, and using either one applies a 2 minute debuff on the Paladin called Forbearance, preventing them from casting any of the three spells for its duration. This prevents them from casting the three spells back to back. That all make sense?

I never use anything other than the 50% bubble in pvp though, it's not as cheap.

And using the bubbles on themselves also stops them from popping Avenging Wrath (wings, 20% dmg+healing) for 30seconds and vice versa.

 

And on my Paladin I pretty much use whatever bubble I think will allow me a victory. ;P Usually that just means mega-bubbling myself and keeping the heals flying until my partner kills the aggressor/reinforcements arrive.

 

But, who am I kidding, I'm a Holy Paladin. I never get low enough to need to bubble, usually. ;D

If there is no release date for D3/GW2 by the time Cataclysm hit I'm rolling a troll drood. With everyone rerolling the low end ore/herb prices will probably plummet which means no bags and mount for me. I'll probably make a friend give me a pile of gold in exchange for a resurrection scroll.

Haha, exactly. Until they realize the only reason they can't win because you're healing, then it's bubble and hearth run away time.

Bubblehearth is the best thing ever, saved me quite a lot of gold during ICC when we were going to wipe. Just a short fly back from Dalaran too :P. Sucks that they're removing it in Cata :(

 

If I was any other tank other than a paladin here this kill would never have happened. Look at all my CDs, had just used Lay on hands on the other tank, if either of us had died he'd have healed back up and not died.

 

 

Old picture and I've posted it here before but it does show the utility that Paladin tanks especially have with so many cool downs, some of which can be used to greatly benefit the raid.

 

Never ever going to get a kill that's closer than that was our first kill of Putricide which makes it even more special :3

And yeah, I knew there was something else that I used all the time on my pally that caused forbearance, avenging wrath ftw :)

 

What's the highest damage you've ever done with a judgement, anyone?

 

Mine was about 23k, with icc buff, avenging wrath, and pretty much every other buff I'd ever heard of :P
