Star_Fox
its been staying at roughly 200k players for awhile... my personal guess is that its going downhill sooner or later.
reverberates
I have also noticed the stablity of the number of players, although I've seen it hit 230k+ players recently. Private Chat Is Always On 10,183rd To 99 Fletching
redserpent4
probably losing, i know alot of my friends are quitting. I think it seems constant because alot of people are using 2 or 3 accounts but in reality the number of new players does not outweigh the number quitting i mean the total number of players in the world. Just because a lot of your friends are quitting doesn't mean RS is losing more players than gaining lol Unless you got about 500,000 friends and 300,000 of them are quitting :-k 2432nd to 99 mining

Stilev
its the middle of the school year, midterms just ended, no 'big' reason to play right now, so the number of players shouldn't be increasing, just kinna staying around the same which it has, yeah its fallen some and risen some, but nothing major. when the school year ends alot more people are ganna join up again. when summoning or w\e is next comes out theres ganna be another big jump. but dont expect anything at this time of year
LGBR
It is gaining but it is losing the people made it great. Aspects of the game which made it worth playing are gone now because of things like PC The world would be a whole lot better if little green men in UFO's came down to earth to abduct rednecks. Obsessive_Passion
If you plotted this on a curve, starting from the introduction of RS2 to now, you'd find the general trend is: increasing at an increasing rate. The statistic on the main page - There are currently people playing! - isn't the best indication, due to the massive time differences. But generally, the numbers should be increasing. Striker6
^^For example i'm playing now and the number is 56714. I'd say it was steadily increasing though. But alot of people get bored of Runescape, I remember when I got to combat level 10 I grew bored of it and stopped playing. But when my friends started playing it more I started up again. Also I don't think Runescape is still miniclips number one game? Though i'm not sure.

Dragon_lord
Most definitely gaining. You think Jagex hasn't responded with that before? Most messages from Jagex are automated!!! This is one of the reasons why some players quit. Jagex is loosing touch with players. Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? Adam007
We're still increasing, just at a much slower rate. Runescape is losing some of its edge to more popular games like WoW that are becoming more mainstream. I know there have always been better games than RS, and RS's appeal is that it's free, but since other MMORPG's are getting mainstream, they're taking some of runescape's mainstream gamers who would have played the free game. Arch3r_Elit3
I honestly think the actual players of rs are leaving more and more. If you want to put it in some kind of perspective, think of this: 250k accounts How many of those accounts aren't macroing accounts? Honestly, I don't know, but I'm guessing we've got a lot of accounts that are actual players. So I'm guessing around... 150-200k actual people playing and not computers. Well, as your total seems pretty high, I assume that you've played pretty long (so your friends too?). Very often people stop playing after decent amount of time, but there always comes new players. All the time. Since most of younger kids just hear about it from older ones who have ended playing it, and they start playing. There was same kinda of situation with me like 4 years ago. When like all my friends quited playing, and I though the game is gonna die. :-# Well, there just came more people, as I understand that what happens in my neighborhood, doesn't mirror the whole world. :-w
confused
It's the number of members that matters most of all.
