February 23, 200719 yr Queen - their musical ability was far exceeding what most musicians even dream of, and they never did a bad song in 3 decades Pink Floyd - while they didn't create prog or psychadelic rock, they did master it Back by popular demand! And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.
February 23, 200719 yr Between the Buried and Me - I love the contrasts they make switching between full-on metal to soft rock/jazz. Though it's not in all their songs, it would probably be the main reason I like them. Aside from that, they're just amazing musicians. Dillinger Escape Plan, August Burns Red - Awesome melodies, and I love the irregular rhythms. Norma Jean, Every Time I Die - Love the melodies. Lamb of God - Great feel-powerful (as opposed to feel-good) music. Gravenhurst - I don't know.. They're just awesome. Dude, are you gonna see them when they swing by Sydney around April/May this year? I'm seeing them here in Brissy for the 2nd time, first time was killer. I'd definately reccomend seeing them live.
February 23, 200719 yr dream theater is my all time favorite band. simply..amazing. the musicianship along with the technicality + the humbleness of them leaves me in awe and respect for any piece of music they produce.
February 24, 200719 yr dream theater is my all time favorite band. simply..amazing. the musicianship along with the technicality + the humbleness of them leaves me in awe and respect for any piece of music they produce. I've tried to make myself like them (most of the bands I really like now I didn't like instantly), simply because they're awesome musicians, but I can't get over how annoying the guy's voice is. -.- Cool.
February 25, 200719 yr The Ramones. Everything Metallica put out up to and including Master of Puppets... The Beatles. Just don't like the crp that bands are selling now, it all sounds the same. There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.
February 25, 200719 yr I guess I'll be the first to go with a rap group. Wu-Tang is the bomb, they have the best stuff. Deep lyrics, catchy hooks, and innovators of the genre on a massive level. These guys are the guys who made kung-fu samples and piano loops hot. I only wish more people of my age actually knew about them outside Chappelle's Show. -.- (P.S. Il ve Chappelle's Show :D ) I never thought they were that special, pretty ordinary actually :-# i like N.W.A., system of a down, bliss N Eso and Rise Against. EDIT: almost forgot Butterfingers #-o a great Aussie alternate/hip-hop group But i really dont stick to a specific genre. You say they're not special? How many of their songs have you heard? They defined the East Coast along with Biggie and Mobb Deep in the '90s, and were a group of nine, the largest major rap group at the time. They were all very diverse, and they used this as an advantage to reach out to a huge audience. If it wasn't for them, there wouldn't be a Method Man, ODB, or Redman, etc. and the East Coast would've been seen a lot differently then they were and are now. Plus, their piano loops and beats are some of the best in rap, I think the only beats better then theirs are Dre's beats (Of course :D ). Sorry to go on and on about it, but you were just really wrong when you said that... Wu-Tang, ordinary? I would have to say the Wu is far from ordinary. No one is like them, that's what makes them so good, they are different. I've never heard anyone use lyrics like them and still sound so good. Listen to the song "Triumph" and you'll see what I mean. And IMO, Wu-Tang is the is better than pretty much any rapper. And Chocobo, Redman had nothing to do with the Wu. So you are also kinda wrong when you said without them, there would be no Redman. 122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting
February 25, 200719 yr Metallica. The best metal band of all time, up to 1992. Their music was raw and powerful. 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'...best song ever. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
February 25, 200719 yr CANNIBAL CORPSE - they keep true to the brutal, gruesome, disgusting death metal label...and the singer has same last name as me....and they are death metal SIX FEET UNDER - they keep true to the brutal, gruesome, disgusting death metal label.... the voice, speed.... DECAPITATED - voice, speed, brutal, violent ATREYU - dunno sounds good 1980 Berlinetta with a 350, bored, mild cam, intake carb, headers, exhaust
March 3, 200719 yr Nightwish- Awesome melodies, and great voice on Tarja Within Temptation- AMAZING voice on Sharon den Adel and they're songs are so beautiful Sonata Arctica- Power Metal awesomeness :P Basically anything Power Metal/Symphonic Metal/Female Fronted Metal I like lol.
March 3, 200719 yr my favorite band is FALL OUT BOY i dont really listen to any of the heavy metal stuff but some old METALLICA
March 5, 200719 yr The Beatles - pushed music further than any other band before them or after them. If you don't agree, consider the same band that wrote I Want to Hold Your Hand, Love Me Do and She Loves You ... you know, all those love songs, a few years later were doing I Am the Walrus, Revolution 9, Helter Skelter, Benefit of Mr. Kite, the entire second half of Abbey Road, ... I could go on. Not to mention all the 'firsts' that they accomplished. ANOTHER QUALITY POST BY JAKE. :funone: jake on last.fm
March 6, 200719 yr Gonna be hard to name my favorite number 1 band, But.. I listen to Three Days Grace, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Nickelback.. Basically anything really.. I am guilty of listening to Fall Out Boy, And I'm sure I'm one of the only here to admit it.. :? I really could care less if they are labeled Emo.. I like some of the songs due to the catchiness. And.. I'm not emo by the way. I don't believe in that. =S I just enjoy listening to some of their more catchy songs.
March 6, 200719 yr Avenged Sevenfold has nice songs, i like the guitars and the singing was not bad. Arch Enemy has also nice guitars and solos. And metallica because its metal Hey Nicrune007 , Whats Your Username? 99 Ranged on 2/6/07 99 Hit Points on 9/5/08 99 Defense on 26/4/08 99 Attack on 14/2/09 99 Strength on 25/2/09 99 Slayer on 13/9/09\:D/
March 11, 200719 yr dream theater is my all time favorite band. simply..amazing. the musicianship along with the technicality + the humbleness of them leaves me in awe and respect for any piece of music they produce. I've tried to make myself like them (most of the bands I really like now I didn't like instantly), simply because they're awesome musicians, but I can't get over how annoying the guy's voice is. -.- eep...i dunno why some people don't like his voice. it's amazing for a man's voice...he can reach an F#
March 11, 200719 yr Iron Maiden-Good guitars and bass lines and vocals I can understand. Red Hot Chilly Peppars-Dunno why just catchy.
April 1, 200719 yr Iron maiden- They have great sound, and now they have 3 guitarist which are great guitarists. All the lead singers were great. heroes get remembered, legends never dieR.I.P Cliff Burton, one true Bassist, © Iron Maiden (below)
April 2, 200719 yr Iron Maiden-Good guitars and bass lines and vocals I can understand. Red Hot Chilly Peppars-Dunno why just catchy. I like the chilis alot too- great guitar, great bass, catchy singing, great drums, great band and just so you know, elmo, it's spelled Red Hot Chili Peppers (just pointing it out) I like phish- catchy, billy breathes has, in my opinion one of the greatest guitar solos of all time Trey anastasio's solo stuff is beautiful too Neil young is also one of my favorites
April 2, 200719 yr Queen is my favorite, as they have been since I was just a wee lad. I also like Red Hot Chili Peppers, ever since my friend started listening to them constantly. Other than that, I'm not really into bands themselves, just individual songs.
April 2, 200719 yr -Metallica. Jame's Vocals are awesome, Lar's drumming is great and Kirk's guitar skills are brilliant and is a heavy metal band. -Iron Maiden. The 3 guitarists, Bruce's vocals, and the great '80s heavy metal. -Red Hot Chili Peppers. Great but not heavy metal as long as it's a lot better than any other lame bands like 30 Seconds to Mars. -Foo Fighters. Just like Red Hot Chili Peppers. -BEATLES!!! THE GREATEST BAND!! -AC/DC their music is hell good. -Led Zeppelin. Same here with AC/DC. First - Credit to Otbg . Second - Credit to 4be2jue
April 6, 200719 yr The Berserker - Honestly the fastest, most foolish thing you will ever see in your life. Rammstein - Simple but catchy songs, and put across issues really well. The Mad Capsule Markets - Their bassist is also their DJ, it's pretty insane to watch. Also, they are catchy and really represent the underground japanese music scene. Dream Theatre - Pioneers. They really are awesome, as in, put me in awe of them. Krust - A drum 'n' bass original. He was sampling and using loops way back. He took jungle to a whole new leel that helped it progress in the Drum 'n' Bass we know today. Coheed and Cambria - They are so skilled, and put on an amazing live show. Sikth - If you want to hear the most complex and randomly arranged basslines and guitar riffs, listen to this band. They are also some of the loveliest guys I've ever hung out with. 65 Days of Static - Basically unheard of. They are also lovely guys. I have their new album out the end of April because a friend of mine writes for Kerrang. It's so relaxing and has lots of little quirks I could keep going on, but I'll leave it there.
April 6, 200719 yr I don't really see why everybody likes Dream Theatre so much. I think they're horrible. Or is it just me? Haven't really got a favorite band, I do like Talking Heads a lot though. The Police are great as well Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
April 6, 200719 yr - The Beatles - Bob Dylan - Pink Floyd - The Rolling Stones - The Who - Johnny Cash Reasons why, later. If i can be bothered. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
April 6, 200719 yr I don't really see why everybody likes Dream Theatre so much. I think they're horrible. Or is it just me? Haven't really got a favorite band, I do like Talking Heads a lot though. The Police are great as well What dont'cha like about dream theater Dann? :) Anyways noticed I haven't replied to this topic so I think I'll bite: Animus: The man only made 1 album but it is perfect in nearly every sense. Incredibly emotional minimalistic black metal. Its not something you listen to on repeat but its great to listen to and just think. Burzum: One of my favorite black metal bands. A lot of his songs are slightly more minimalistic in nature but he has some great vocals and the man himself is fairly smart. (as far as black metalists go at least). Dream Theater: Incredible musicianship and lyrics. My jaw nearly droped the first time I listened to 'Octavarium' and 'A Change of Seasons' and plenty of their other songs are simply amazing. Blind Guardian: One of my favorite power metal bands that seems to get better with each new release. Their songs are catchy and aren't the typical 'flower metal' you see in bands such as sonata arctica. Moonsorrow: Fairly unique Folk metal band. Don't have much to say other than they sound awsome. Therion: Symphonic metal at its best. Nothing much to say. I've tried to keep this list to stuff I have listened to for a while but I just have to add two other (recent) bands: Aarni: This band is close to one of the most unique bands I have ever listened to. It is 'Experimental Doom Metal' you could say. One moment a song can go from a flute to a low doom metal riff, simply amazing. Summoning: 'epic black metal' and epic it is. Amazing melodys that really paint a picture be it middle earth or some other strange land. Its hard for me to keep a favorite down to 2 or 3. These however are probaly my 'favorites' while I could easily add like 10 to this list.
April 6, 200719 yr What dont'cha like about dream theater Dann? :) Brr, they're so cold. There's really nothing in their music. Ultimate proof that having the technical side covered isn't everything. Their music just doesn't work for me. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
