Random fact: Purple Party hat used to be Pink Party hat on RSC, and was worth the most. The big dupe made the Pink Party hat become the most common (most expensive item was duped the most), hence the lowest price now.

cool....I wonder if they'll ever make easter rings tradeable

Why the hell would they do that? :?:

the phat has 100% nothing to do with looks or stats. The phat is a symbol of wealth, and it is wealth in itself. Only the richest can buy it, its virtually the skillcape of wealth. It is also an investment, you can make millions in a day just buy existing pretty much.

For myself and others who had their partyhats from the beginning (the day they were dropped or shortly after), it was simply for the looks. At the time it had no real value as almost everyone had multiple party hats since they were dropped free for anyone to take. It is entirely possible that players who no longer regularly play may still keep their phats for the looks. I know of at least one player who also gave a phat to his child who just wanted it for the looks, as the child had no idea what phats cost.

A purple phat is cheapest because it was DUPED THOUSANDS OF TIMES during the "great phat duplication of (forgot year)"

It obviously has nothing to do with stats, but I do think looks affect it. Granted I bought my phat while it was still under 100k, but I keep it because I like the way it looks (in the bank/inventory -- in RS2 it doesn't look very good on my char).

Phats are soon going to die out in say 5-8 years when they all start vanishing

I think it's more about time, place and the people around you.

I was at a CW bank once, next to a guy with a red mask. I was wearing my Green party. Couple guys came over and complimented the guy with the red mask and talked about how cool it was and how rich he much be. They said nothing to me (not that I care).

Just goes to show, that each player respects something different.

When the phats came out, X-mas 01, they were useless now they are impossibly expensive.

If we want to use logic we can say the blue phat was worrth 1k at relase, now worth 350m

350m (350000000)/ 1k (1000) = 350000

It has grew 350000 times in value over six years

In six more years a blue phat will probally be worth more than :

1.225E14 which equals, something.

It will probaly be really expensive.

i hope these autoers are ready cause here comes tztok-JaGeX!!!

People buy to show off thir wealth or invest in them for later.

I'd wear mine (if i had one) alot even though the scammers and beggars would drive you insane.

Doomy edit: I like sheep

If I ever find a Party Hat on the ground in Runescape, I would sell it.

That 100+ million would set me up for the rest of my RS life.

I don;t see why people use them as an 'investment', because seriously, no one needs 1bil+

Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

Makes me happy that I recently obtained a party hat, that I do not plan to sell any time soon.
