February 20, 200719 yr After having played Runescape for roughly 5 months and having surfed the various forums for 2/3 months it has come to my attention that their is a small/medium group of players who basically no longer have any fun with the game. The thing is these people tend to be very vocal about how poor recent updates have been, how Jagex has forgotten about high lvl players etc... What i don't understand is why these people continually barrack others over how poor the game is. If you no longer enjoy the game then why not just leave and be done with it, you are not obligated to 'warn' others of how poor the game has become in your opinion. If anyone can explain why these disilussioned players are so disilussioned do so. (@ mods this is not intended as a rant, i am specifically speaking to P2P players,I understand this could become a flame war-but that is not my intention). I want this to spark a general debate about what people think of the game and its ongoing developement, i want to hear from the very high level players i am talking about and their reasons for disliking the games updates et al. Edit: took out some inflammatory material, Would like to add that if anyone has any ideas on what would be good updates for high level players i'd like to hear them aswell (im not high lvl).

February 20, 200719 yr hear hear : there's far to much of "this game is not what it used to be" "these updates are terrible! they dont help my lv99 cook in any way!" "omg how you afford a phat! you only lv3!" (some) older players have no respect for newer people, and cant see how a low level can do so well, it sound like old people in rl actually (no offence to anyone) i completely support those newbies out there, gd luk with your peeps if you dont like a game, dont play it and dont come crying to the rest of us :notalk: rant over... BRING ON THE FLAMES!!! (takes antifire pot) killing off the TET, one newb at a time :^_^:im cutting back on rs now due to rl issues (college), my sig stats havent been updated in a while...
February 20, 200719 yr Author :) im aware of that possibility, but really im just hoping to spark a debate about what direction people think the game should go in. Edit:spelt spark as sprak and hoping as hpoing :wall:
February 20, 200719 yr sorry, i need to get that lot off my chest... :P anyhoo, i think there should be more things like the recipe for disaster quest - cheap and easy bits, and hard expensive bits. i think that would suit all... killing off the TET, one newb at a time :^_^:im cutting back on rs now due to rl issues (college), my sig stats havent been updated in a while...
February 20, 200719 yr If you're trying to make a debate, it should be in the debate forum. Personally, i don't understand why people complain. The pay 5 dollars a month (members), but still expect too much. Jagex can hardly make an update a week, let a lone a great one. I'd love it if we only got 1 update a month or even less often, that way the updates could be better* *I'm not saying the updates are bad now. In Soviet Russia, glass eats OTers. Alansson Alansson, woo woo woo! Pink owns yes, just like you!GOOOOOOOOOO ALAN! WOO!
February 20, 200719 yr People shouldn't complain so much. Runescape is still a good game and even though (i do think this) it isn't as friendly as it used to be i'm not alltogether bothered. We all have our friends on our friends list and thats all we're really bothered about as far as the community is concerned. There was idiots in rsc and theirs idiots now, i dont care about percentages.
February 20, 200719 yr Author I meant discussion. Please dont move this because of this i DO NOT WANT A DEBATE (even though theres basically no difference between a debate and discussion.
February 20, 200719 yr In any games theres gonna be bad updates, and some good. You gotta take the rough with the smooth. GF TIF. 9 November 2006 - 22 January 2008, when I could no longer stand the painted turd that is the Tip.It community. Only posting in rants.
February 20, 200719 yr barrack others over how poor the game is Is that even a word?? :-k On topic: i think the hi lvl players r asking for more updates that wud benefit themselves more than the average low/mid lvl player as they feel left out when jagex makes updates that a hi lvl can complete n a matter of hours...also lower lvls would complain if all jagex did was release higher lvl orientated updates .... 8-) It isn't in the castle, It isn't in the mist, It's a calling of the waters, As they break to show, The new Black Death, With reactors aglow, Do you think your security, Can keep you in purity, You will not shake us off above or belowScottish frictionScottish fiction
February 20, 200719 yr I hate reading quitting posts or other complaints about the general game, so i just avoid them.
February 20, 200719 yr I have no idea why peple are like that, I personally enjoy the game at any time I play it, If I dont i go play something else. Yesterday I was doing the new Tower of Life quest, and just saw someone randomly say "jagex messed up again" what the heck? how did they mess up? its a perfectly good update, and I loved it, what will it take to satisfy some people? February 20, 200719 yr I get really frustrated with "RSC was so much better" and "The community is terrible these days" I think the only reason they say those things is because RSC was the time before they turned into grumpy, depressed people. Currently not active on RuneScape.
February 20, 200719 yr Some people don't like some updates, other people don't like others. And if an update comes out that some people dont like, and if there's a forum, someone is going to post about it, and oftentimes on these boards offer constructive criticism. What's wrong with that? Why is criticism such a problem? I have to think that other MMORPGs are not immune from this phenomenon either. If you no longer enjoy the game then why not just leave and be done with it, That's rather an ignorant statement. A lot of folks have hundreds, if not thousands, of hours invested in the creation of their character. They want Runescape to succeed, and they want updates that will entertain them. Once you start playing a little longer, and get to the point where you have to go weeks and/or months in between levels in your skills, you'll have a different perspective, and see why higher-level folks look forward to updates so much. I'm not even there yet, but I feel their pain. The 80s are slow and expensive. I can't even imagine the 90s. At your level you have different concerns than a level 115. I'm actually surprised that Jagex has so little for high-level players to do. The ones who have been the most dedicated, have been playing the longest, and who have the longest time in between levels. You'd think Jagex doesn't want them around anymore.

I almost question sometimes whether these people just say an update is horrible sometimes and post their replys about how horrible it is in a topic created for how horrible an update is just to get their post count up sometimes :shame: I mean honestly both the game of Runescape and these Tip.it Forums mean so little in the overall scheme of life...and if the first really was producing such poor updates then it wouldnt be around much longer and would drag the second out of the picture as well :-w CLICK - 770th to 99 SLAYER 2/4/08 - 204th to 99 Summoning 7/1/08 CLICK[Hide=List of Drops That I haven't updated in Years but want to keep in my Sig anyways...]VISAGE DROP - 12/06/073 Duo Sara Hilts, 3 Duo Arma Hilts, 2 Trio Arma Hilts.Dark Bows: (11) Dragon Boots: (50!)Whip Drops: (42!!!) February 20, 200719 yr barrack others over how poor the game is Is that even a word?? :-k In the UK it means like a shouting argument, I think.
February 20, 200719 yr When you have played the same game for 6-18 months, you come to realise that you know everything about the game already and the only thing left to do is the updates and the clicking. (read: achieving goals) And when the updates are "bad" they get depressed because they know they will have to wait a week for the next exciting thing to explore. During that week they make their pathetic whining posts about how there already was a topic about this last week or how the community was so much better in rs1 and how there are so many noobs in f2p and how bad the last update was. But please, if you are one of these people; stop it :) we already know what you think, because you already told it last week!
February 20, 200719 yr Meh, they're just being childish. "I don't like this, so Jagex must have screwed up. They need to shape up." It's ridiculous. If you don't like it, then GO AWAY. Personally, I don't find this game as entertaining as it once was. It's not the updates; I just got tired of it. So now I'm playing World of Warcraft. Right now it has that new game smell, and I'm liking it. I know that eventually I will get tired of it and I will need to find something else to do.
February 20, 200719 yr It's kind of like perscription anti-depressants. If it works (and it does 99% of the time) then your not gonna shout off the roof tops about how great it is. But if your kid is the 1% that cits their wrist after taking it, your GOING to go to the papers and talk of how awful the drug is. TRANSLATION:99% of the players are fine with the game. Just those few that make it seem like half of the players are hacking/scamming/ noobs. YOU! ATTEND TET EVENTS! CLICK HERE!

February 20, 200719 yr Well i remember starting roughly 2 years ago. And back then most of the updates were towards mid level players. None for ftp mostly for members. But at the beginig of the year they said that they were going to start focusing on the lower levels. and so here comes them giving updates like the combat tutors and the bank in lumbridge that you dont have to do a quest to get. I don think that they are soon going to bring out some new quests for the higher levels. Jagex Wrote: Apparently, deep in the darkness, something, or several somethings, are beginning to move. Great powers are once again beginning to shift... but towards what?
February 20, 200719 yr people should stop complaining by saying "rsc was better", because this isn't rsc. the updates are meant for people to have fun with the game regardless of your level. another bit is that if you need constant updates to have fun with a game, you relly should find something else to do well, there's my opinion *ducks behind high powered anti-flame barricades* I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
