March 2, 200719 yr It was an accident apparently. Fri Mar 2, 8:51 AM ET ZURICH, Switzerland - What began as a routine training exercise almost ended in an embarrassing diplomatic incident after a company of Swiss soldiers got lost at night and marched into neighboring Liechtenstein. According to Swiss daily Blick, the 170 infantry soldiers wandered just over a mile across an unmarked border into the tiny principality early Thursday before realizing their mistake and turning back. A spokesman for the Swiss army confirmed the story but said that there were unlikely to be any serious repercussions for the mistaken invasion. "We've spoken to the authorities in Liechtenstein and it's not a problem," Daniel Reist told The Associated Press. Officials in Liechtenstein also played down the incident. Interior ministry spokesman Markus Amman said nobody in Liechtenstein had even noticed the soldiers, who were carrying assault rifles but no ammunition. "It's not like they stormed over here with attack helicopters or something," he said. Liechtenstein, which has about 34,000 inhabitants and is slightly smaller than Washington DC, doesn't have an army. Oh wait, that happened already... ^^; Well I thought it was kinda amusing... :-w The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. March 2, 200719 yr Meh, I wouldn't call accidentally crossing a border an invasion, which perspective is the only thing that makes this story funny in the first place.
March 2, 200719 yr Ha! when I looked at this title I was thinking "What the hell? Switzerland invaded a country?!" but that was just hilarious! http://www.draynor.net/code/bar/Noobin\Please join my very new up and coming forumshttp://s3.freepowerboards.com/runeboards Feel free to AIM or MSNM me anytime
March 2, 200719 yr Haha, Liechtenstein doesn't have an army. I hope any young people that read the article don't start developing "ideas"... You *could* invade their little country by hiring 200 mercenaries from North Africa and sailing across the ocean and crossing Italy with a transport truck, labeling it as "health products". But just because they can't fight back, doesn't mean you could rule their country without international repercussions. You'd be expelled from the UN and probably face a NATO attack, just a reminder. You could briefly tax the population and seize government treasuries and assets though.
March 2, 200719 yr Haha, Liechtenstein doesn't have an army. I hope any young people that read the article don't start developing "ideas"... Do you know how many banks and rich companies have their HQ's and money in Liechtenstein? Imagine all the money you'd get... All you have to do is buy some land somewhere, declare your land an independent country, conquer Liechtenstein before the country you bought the land from conquers/trade embargos you, bribe the UN with the money you got so you don't get sued in international court, and live in Liechtenstein the rest of your life... The weather's really nice there... Oh and I thought the same thing as Ash. Losers...Are you blind or ignoring me on purpose?Even though I sometimes side with religious people in some debates, I no longer consider myself religious.

This was an act of WAR! They just psyched out at the last minute!

March 3, 200719 yr Whats NATO? Is it like a UN Army Force thingy or something? :? Oh God no. NATO (North American Treaty Organization) is a coalition of nations that will defend each other militarily if the other is attacked. The United States, Mexico, and Canada are the prime members. I believe the UK has also signed, as well as many other smaller nations. NATO was organized to mirror the Warsaw Pact, which was a similar treaty system started by the USSR in the Cold War. Even though the War is over, the positive effects of NATO are still useful. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley
March 3, 200719 yr I giggled at that. I think invading Liechtenstein would be pretty pointless anyway. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!
March 3, 200719 yr I giggled at that. I think invading Liechtenstein would be pretty pointless anyway. No. Do you know the amount of Liechtenstein Banks aka Swiss Banks there is? You could easily turn the place into a money laundering center. After all, they already did that once before they were blacklisted in 2001, and then cleaned up their act. Me doing staff.
