Tzhaar vs Predator?

We have long wondered what the Thzaar are, what their intentions are, is there going to be some quest there?

Well I think ive got it.

 

Sure some of you have seen the alien trilogy, ugly devestating creatures ripping away human flesh, you know, basic horror/sci fi stuff.

 

Now we skip some movies of this, and we stay at Aliens versus predator.

 

 

 

Just to make it short: humans have discovered a secret temple under Antartica, upon examine they find aliens, the ones I was talking about a few lines ago, and the predator, also yautja, in their own language.

 

<- Yautja.

 

Anyhow, some history on the Yautja now. They visited earth in the time of the Aztec, they taught them to build and the Yautja were treated as gods. Once every 100 years they came back on the temple, where they sacrificed humans to breed aliens, so they could fight one giant skirmish battle. When they lost , they blew themselfs, the aliens, and the whole aztec culture up.

 

 

 

Now, we are going to compare both the Yautja, and the Tzhaar.

 

 

 

Firstly, the picture i have posted above, is a picture of a Yautja. On first sight they dont look like eachother. If you look closely to the face of him, I know hes ugly, just do it. Now you'll see he has "4" sort of giant teeth near his mouth.

 

The Tzhaar has 4 arms. Hmm..

 

 

 

Now we look at where they live, the Thzaar live underground, under an volcano, whereas the Yautja have a temple under an giant survace of ice. They both look like nothing a human could build. And both are underground. Now both of these species, Tzhaar and Yautja, never EVER come above the survace, or atleast, out of our sight.

 

 

 

Language, both the Tzhaar and the Yautja have strange languages. I mean, look at the names of the species overall.

 

 

 

Weapons, we all love em. Sure, the Yautja are super civilized beings with spaceships and all, but they have some blades and stuff too. For example.. the spear they use to battle, they look suprisingly like the spear the magician Thzaar use. Now the disk Yautja use, they in one word own. Now we look at the rings from the Thzaar. They both throw them away like frisbee's, deadly sharp frisbee's.

 

Both Thzaar and Yautja are incredibly strong, seriously, you cant really beat a Thzaar not armored without food and weapons. They'd smack you up.

 

 

 

Now we look at their intentions, the Thzaar, are a strong force, they could whipe out the entire planes of Runescape, but they dont. In common Thzaar are friendly beings. Suprisingly, so are Yautja.

 

 

 

Thzaar do like to fight, I mean, there are 2 great fighting mini games. Both are last man standing. Survival of the fittest if you want.

 

Fight caves, as we all know, is one giant battle, wich isnt just putting on Protect from melee and slash like theres no tomorrow. It requires strategy. Hmm, so does fighting against an army of angry bloodthirsty aliens.

 

 

 

Tztok jad, the big daddy. Strongest monster ingame, he uses various attacks, all devastating. the Queen alien is also very big, very strong, uses different attacks... you name it.

 

 

 

The creatures of the caves never venture out of them. Never, the Tzhaar simply wouldnt allow that, so don't the Yautja.

 

 

 

Both Yautja and Tzhaar have an honour system, take fight caves, the more monsters you defeat, the more tokkul you recieve, and when you defeat Tztok jad, you get the highest honoured prize the Tzhaar posses.

 

 

 

Also, they both have alien materials wich are not found on earth or runescape, be it a heatseaking shouldercannon, or the most powerfull amulet ingame, and all sorts of strange metals.

 

 

 

Now, im almost completely sure they copied the Yautja idea into Runescape, into the form of the Thzaar.

 

And if you dont believe in them copying... Take the Seaslug quest and some book of H.P lovercraft. Or all the monty python refferences.

there's ALOT more comparisons then that, read the whole thing mate. Seems like theres just too many comparisons for it to be a coincidence. Jagex does seem to get alot of there ideas (and jokes) from pop culture stuff so it wouldnt surprise me :-s

good point, you shoudl wait untill future thzaar exapnsions come and look for some more similarities.

You say that because they make TINY references to monty python (very tiny), that the Tzhaars must be a reference to the Predators? I doubt they used something as big as the species of Tzhaars as a reference. You're thinking too hard.

ok i see were your coming from, but you can really do that with about anything in the game...i mean if you look at the bible you can find codes that relate to modern events, wanna know why, theres just alot of stuff!

well runescape takes after several movie plots so we'll see.....if there's gonna a war with tzhaar and us runescapians....count me in :D

Look guys, it's just for fun, so stop being so serious about them "not being a referance" and all that. I find the comparisons to the two very interesting, as I had not thought of them like that before. For all we know, Jagex could've used the Predators as a referance. It's one of those big mysteries.

I read the whole thing, picked out some of your factors to show how clearly off you are, you were and are looking for comparisons not seeing them.

 

 

 

How the hell can you say Jagex isn't original, their PVP system is and has been groundbreaking and the reason for 90% of their high level fan base staying on.

 

 

 

Not only that but they must be doing something differently for otherwise why are so many people here. You can just assume something stolen because the company making it likes to parody pop culture not only is it insulting it's just plain rude.

 

 

 

Now, since it seems people are so sucked in I will outline WHY your are simply pulling things out the air.

 

 

 

In classic fantasy there are always different races, classically they also prefer their own kind and there is alot of prejudice and almost "racism" between the factions/races. Therefore almost all have their own home town/place - ie. trolls, ie. werewolves, ie. elves, ie. the people of the shanty pass/desert all of which are examples in RS. Now Jagex wanted to make a city on Karajama and decided in the volcanoe, now again classically in fantasy races normally have some sort of affiliation and harmony with their habitat; elves - woods, dwarfs - mountains/underground. Therefore it was only logical that the Thzarr be made out of magma/lava (as there will be obvious discrepensies there) their 4 arms? fantasitical effect, graphical harmony, whatever you want to call it. Normally these races also have their own language as all races do, that is nothing different or abnormal. But c'mon your explanations are laughable at best.

So it wouldnt disrupt gameplay/ the coding it has taken Jagex 5 years to create if they wanted Thzarr to invade runescape? It's for practicality and nothing else.

 

 

 

The minigames - violence (er.. guess thats what you mean?)

 

 

Fight Pits - PVP without the loss of items, its practicality not flavour that this was added for, it was something people wanted so they gave it to them.

 

 

 

Fight Caves - A way to give recognition for skill rather than clicking ability and a goal for many people again almost no flavour whatsoever.

Alien metals/materials

 

 

 

Er hang on there Onyx firstly is a real material found on earth and since it is formed near volcanoes it was an obvious choice for Jagex to make to give the playability a boost again.

 

 

 

Jagex do like to parody and to put in easter eggs its true but your getting way ahead of yourself here, all your points can be generalised to all of fantasy and those specific links are not spefically flavourful in their RPG context.

There is no need at all to start trying to impose an intellectual superiority over me, let alone comment on something that is perfectly readable.
