John Howard

Gonna vote for Rudd? This is a good a time as any: what's you're beef against Howard? And just to clarify, no, I'm not for Rudd nor am I for Howard (at this stage; still evaluating).

I'd personally love to see nuclear power in this country which it seems at this stage won't come under Rudd.

Nuclear power would be great, but it won't turn up under Howard either.

He promises a lot and genreally does the opposite - remember the GST?

As for my beef against Howard - everything. The only people who have gotten any benifit from Howard while he's been in power have been the rich suits of the country. Every one else always gets the short end of the stick. Howard wouldn't know that of course since he's like some of the admins of this forum: totally out of touch with the people. If he actually had to survive on the income of your average working-class citizen he'd soon realise what a raw deal he's been given them all for a long, long time.

Can't argue with much of that. As I heard someone put it: Rudd is on the global warming bandwagon but against nuclear power yet Howard is supposedly for nuclear power yet dosen't buy global warming. How convienient for us thinkers eh? :wall:

About being out of touch, yeah, it does seem that way for Howard and a general slab of the politicians around the place. All it is with Howard these days (if you've ever watched parliament question time from the house of reps) is how great the economy is. It dosen't really reflect much when the wealth isn't being shared to the people who vote and make the country a friggin country.

I see something worrying when I get to a position of voting for the lesser of two evils. :wall:

While I'm cointinuing in the same complaints and grievances vein, the condescending nature of Costello's budget erks me. Don't get me wrong, I like that he's spending some money for a change instead of letting it accumulate in a bloody vault but anyone with two to rub together knows it's at least partly a vote grabbing excercise.

Politics hey, whatcha gonna do. -.-

Well, I kind of agree with Rud about nuclear power. But since Australia has the biggest supply of Uranium on the planet - it's a bit of a waste to not utilise it for our own power.

And it's not really a matter of the lesser of two evils. Well it is, but in many ways it isn't when you take into consideration where you're at in life, a student.

And Costello's budget is a sorry attempt at vote-grabbing. After so many years of getting shafted by him, the people he was trying to buy off didn't fall for it like he hoped. When it was released I had to struggle not to laugh at it. The entire thing wreaked of "community pay-offs" it was almost insulting to the intelligence of the public.

This girl in 7th grade. She (man-woman actually) kept bothering us so f'ing much. Then I pushed her into a bookshelf. :)

I don't hate anybody but I've pretty much lost all respect I had for my parents. It would be one thing if it were normal conflicts like "Oh gee I wanna get a piercing/stay out late at night/be a slacker/go drinking" or something like that, but it's more actual domestic issues because they are going through their midlife crisis or something. They haven't shown me much right lately, only wrong stuff. Like my dad saying, to my face, that I'm the reason our family is disintegrating. Or my Mom shouting foreign curse words at drivers and people who do nothing wrong and using her age as justification for EVERTYHING, or shouting at me to do something then telling me to calm down when I yell back defensively. Or telling me repeatedly that I can't buy a new guitar because I'm not good enough because I refuse to take lessons (BTW this is justified so don't call me on it - I'm no Batio but I'm apparently coming along quite well for having played for 3.5 months now), not to mention her FINANCIALLY DECEIVING ME by saying that I have very low money in my checking account despite the fact that today I found my tax return in a kitchen drawer, uncashed.

And part of the reason my checking account is kinda low is because my dad "loaned" me a laptop, then went to get it while I was at school and got upset by the fact that the speakers lost their clarity when cranked all the way. I then had to buy a new laptop for him, but since it had Vista on it I had to pay for an XP license as well, nevermind the fact that he'll have to upgrade EVENTUALLY and that he has 10 XP licenses as part of his Microsoft licensing program. And then he asks me why I am trying not to spend money.

On top of all of this they always push this BS about how "oh if life weren't so STRESSFUL we'd be so much nicer to you" despite the fact they pretty much have showed me that they don't care and want me to go away. And when I do things wrong (which I know I do, believe it or not) they must harp on it over and over and tell me that they're always right about everything because they're older. For instance (back to guitar again) my mum was listening to me play and she's spouting off dog[cabbage] like "OH YOU MISPLACED A NOTE" or when I play a progression she's like "YOU NEED TO LEARN TO PLAY AN ENTIRE SONG BECAUSE OTHERWISE YOU'RE WORTH NOTHING." Then, "Oh gee Mom, since that note's misplaced why don't you mind telling me where it goes? I'm trying to play E7 here." Wait for it... "Oh that sounds like bull when I was a child we didn't have anything like that I got a CLASSICAL education and believe me although I haven't played piano in at least 35 years I still know."

They constantly wonder why I avoid them and mouth off at them when they act like that and tell me that I'd better not do that to other adults, but you know, I can't think of anybody else that yells at me and acts as tyrannical as they do. It's no more than motivation to never be like them, ever. And that's that XD.

Hey at least it's only psychological torture, I could be getting beat, I guess.

Yeah, most of the time when I'm thinking about the politics of this country, I'm not thinking for myself because I've got it good (thankfully). Rather, I'm racking my brains because we still have silly problems in a country as rich as ours and those less fortunate than me are genuinely doing it tough. I find it sad that we have our own phrase for the somewhat neglected in this country - the Aussie battler.

There is one thing that effects all of us, though - the water crisis. At least there was a descision made and hopefully the pipes and recycling plant will be up in time.
