Friend and I started this server, we've been working on it for a week or so. A couple more friends joined in as of late but we're looking for a few more regulars wanting to help. We have an economy and such set up so far. We have 2 exchange buildings for buying/selling and we have no spawning or cheating of sorts. Its peaceful atm but we plan on turning on mobs and such soon. The picture shows the main city that we've started. I built the stadium and hotel, friend built the dome and other friend built the tower to dive into a lake lol.

I want to make a replica of King's Landing, as best I can, in minecraft. I logged on and created a new world 'til I hit a place that looked about right and set to clearing some trees by burning them, figuring I could just replant them later. Then, when I had a working space, I'd get to planning.

 

...That plan quickly went to the [cabbage] as 1) My borrowed cruddy laptop started crashing after 15min of play time 2) it essentially became "How many times can Kim burn down forests and still get a laugh from watching it burn?

 

Needless to say, the idea to replicate King's Landing from the Song of Ice and Fire series is on the backburner. No pun intended.

If anybody want's a pretty good world, use the seed "gargamel" No capitals at all, just that. Usually you spawn in a cave, but if you get out it's pretty awesome.

How do you spawn in a cave? I thought you always spawned sand, by water (be it an ocean or a puddle).

Not really too interesting, but I used my screenname (Hysting) and generated a watery rain forest area with a bunch of close islands. Spent 2 days looking for coal around the islands and found what seemed to be a small cave, turns out to be a super cave.

 

Some other interesting seeds I've found on the MCF would be Glacier, 404 and Minecraft.

Notch as the seed seems to create a world with no water right next to spawn and lots of 1 or 2 block holes in the ground nearby. Notch spawns holey worlds?

gargamel is amazing you spawn in a dark cave once your out its a massive canyon cliffs on both sides to the clouds

I hope Mojang implements an option to generate specific world type of climates like how it was in Indev. Like choose Ice/hell, mountains/islands, etc.

Wool contrasts nicely with other materials, so thats why i use it :)

I wanted to have a tougher survival sort of world in a cold climate making not so fancy structures and the like. I got a world which had fit that, scrambled for coal almost until night. Made a wood/dirt hut on a big mountain overlooking the spawn, mobs chased me up. These two guys started fighting and fell off the side of a cliff and both died. Amusing.

 

When Mojang adds in the spawn point for a bed, I'll properly be able to explore as a Nomad without having a major risk of being sent back. Also, epic terrain.

Yup. I had to rebuild a world from scratch without any aid via MCEdit, twas painful.

My world's not working neither. But not due to MCEdit though. :razz: I think it may be that there are unknown blocks with an ID greater than the game limits in the world...meaning old mods not in the new system? I hope so, for I haven't gotten around to update the mods.

Make an arrow with torches. >> Render a map of the world. >> Locate buildings >> Move to buildings.

 

Ive had to do this so many tiems after crashes I dont even have to think about it anymore.

Since the worlds are changed, Cartograph doesn't work.

Also, epic terrain.
