  • Well I've sorted that one out.     Every time I put my architectural skills to use in Minecraft, I keep thinking how stained glass is not a thing yet. How is it not a thing?

  • Apologies for late reply but I am not very active on tipit and don't play runescape at all anymore.   I have had a few pretty big mod reviews! It kind of blew up and snowballed at some point, most con

~5 diamond shovels I think. And about 3 more while digging at other locations.

Can anyone connect to Minecraft.net through the client? I can't, no matter how many times I try :(

Anyway, as I wiped my PC last night, I lost my Minecraft world, so I'm starting again. Epic tree house in the making people.

Yeah, the new launcher doesn't connect. the old one does though. Found a triple dungeon, two adjoined dungeons and a third dungeon a few ways down the block... the sad part? they are spider dungeons... i wish spiders dropped something useful.

You stole my tower idea! :o

Texture pack? Looks like a HD default version to me.

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

It's regular version with the new lighting Notch put in the game.

So I need some help. I am experiencing massive delay in my actions on servers. It is so bad that playing on Peaceful is mindnumbingly aggrivating and nigh impossible and...well, playing on any other difficulty is almost certain death.

Strangely enough, it's just when I play on servers. I play as I would normally on single player, no lag, on Fast-Normal with soft lighting on at a steady 30fps. No such luck on servers, where it takes over a minute to register as an attack on a harmless mob or take damage for a fall, let alone the delay in destroying blocks. I originally thought it was server-side, but it must not be since I've tried both a server with a third party wrapper and the default provided by Notch. Both were updated to version 1.3. And I must stress that prior to the most recent update, I've never experienced anything like this before.

Since I had the delay problem on both servers, I checked for problems on my end. I did the simple things, like rebooting my router, restarting the computer, making sure the machine was running cool, etc. I pinged the two servers I had delay on, both averaged about 50ms response time and virtually no loss. Then I checked my speed and saw relatively no change (approx 1mb/s dl and .6mb/s upload, which is what I played on just fine before). When I saw nothing troubling in my speeds and response time, I deleted the old copy of Minecraft and downloaded a fresh copy, no mods. Still delay.

So now I'm completely confused and unsure. Worse, it seems as if only a certain amount of people are having this problem, my unlucky self among them. I'm fairly certain it has nothing to do with my specs since I can play the game perfectly on single player, as I stated earlier. Is anyone else experiencing this same issue? Or, better yet, is there any hope or whisper of a patch or an unofficial fix out there yet? The situation is extremely frustrating and I miss my multiplayer goodness!

Thanks in advance, etc.

So today, I figured out that Minecraft isn't blocked at school. We had some freetime during English, so I logged on Classic and started building a house.

A girl next to me saw me playing, and she went on and played it herself. She thought it was awesome, and she now plays it in her class periods.

During break at my school a lot of people go to the Commercial Art's teachers room. (He is pretty awesome, lots of computers, let's us eat in there etc. etc.) I brought Minecraft in one day and got maybe 2 people into it. Spreading like wildfire. Let's just say about 20 people in the room play it at once every now and then.

Well done, yet more conversions to the cause.

Kimberly, servers suck. Period. They almost never work as they should, I think the problems you describe are universal. I do think it's worth it to play with friends, though.

EDIT: Actually, you might be right, it seems that some people can run servers fine. I haven't tried on my new machine, sometimes particular computers inexplicably fail to work with multiplayer servers in more than one kind of game.

I played on servers just fine prior to the 1.3 update and both servers I tested on were managed by knowledgeable admins, running stable on top of the line machines :P (i7 cores, 4+ gb ram, etc)

Well, I haven't updated recently due to not being on it, so...

E: Thanks Duelmaster, it worked.

When I try to start Minecraft through Steam, the normal thing, the website, or the new launcher on the website, it looks like this.

It loads a bit, gets to there, and stays there. Anybody know what I should do? I think it's something to do with the update files or something being downloaded wrong, but I don't know what to delete and re-download. I would post in Tech & Computers, but people here probably know more about Minecraft.

Go to the .minecraft folder and delete the bin folder. It'll redownload everything, but it works. That usually happens to me if I install a mod wrong or just delete the jar file without getting rid of everything else.

Even if it's a dumb story, telling it changes other people just the slightest little bit, just as living the story changes me. An infinitesimal change. And that infinitesimal change ripples outward-ever smaller but everlasting. I will get forgotten, but the stories will last. And so we all matter-maybe less than a lot, but always more than none.
