F2p Mage Proposal *Read it now!* 105 supporters!!!!
D. V. Devnull replied to Komodoman360's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
As I have said so many times, but I will say it again, Jagex won't get a lot of subscribers if they don't properly reflect the P2P combat triangle in F2P. That is why F2P still needs something for mages that provides protection from melee attacks, even if not ranged. :ugeek: And BTW, not everyone can pay for P2P. It is NOT a matter of not wanting to, it is that those people CAN'T, due to one life circumstance or another. As such an example, imagine being younger than 18, and unable to get a credit card or other form by which you could pay for P2P on RuneScape, because you have the kind of parents that stop you from gaining access to such. (BTW, I hate to have to say it, but if you're unable to visualize this in your mind, you're in need of serious mental help. :shame: ...) Also of note, some P2P'ers like to come across and play with their F2P buddies, and would like to have something reasonable on F2P for mages. Do you really want to slap those P2P'ers in the face?!?!? :x One last thing... I've just utterly destroyed every point you tried to make, because honestly, you had no point to make in the first place. How about you come and support this idea (and its' thread) instead? : ~Mr. D. It's only filthy if they make it filthy. Anyone ever think of that? \ Well said, BNCBot ... There ARE ways to use words that are totally clean. For example, eating a "wiener" in your hot dog, gently petting your "[kitty]" (A reference to a cat that has been filtered by the Tip.It Language Filter... Thanks a [bleep] lot, Tip.It!!! :x ...), trying to feed a squirrel some "nuts", and even tossing "balls" through a hoop. Everyone who reads this should notice, in each example, I stuck quotes around the word that would be questioned... However, each example shows proof of cleanliness in the usage of the given word. Master_Smither/runescapew44, you really should support this!!! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

I agree with what Laikrob said. It is so unnoticeable because it is at the bottom of the signature. It is easy to overlook and assume it is actually apart of the users' signature (like a quote or something). In that case... Any way to move that alert ABOVE a user's signature? Maybe with a template redefinition or something? :-s ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Dragontotem, I'm a little better-natured than I'm probably sounding here. ;) ... Anywho, sorry about me going berserk there... Must have been triggered by Jimmy's 2nd post to this thread. :anxious: BTW, I'd be really surprised, after PostImage.org having effectively gotten all that advertisement from Tip.It, if the images had been deleted by PostImage. Think about it a moment... Wouldn't that be like leaving behind a horror story, and/or bad 'P.R.'??? :-s ~D. V. Devnull

I agree: Wait... What? It got disabled on this board, after the forum-crash. They already left the staff then. Okay, to fill everyone in with what is in my memory, and answer those going, "Wait... what?", please read on... The whole thing about displaying birthdays has been off since before I ever arrived on Tip.It ... Further, when it was brought up and discussed back then, it was noted that the feature would not be turned on due to the need to protect the younger users of Tip.It ... And to really deck it off, I couldn't even input my birthday back then into my profile data and have my age (25 at current) displayed on my user profile. (BTW, I'm glad I can have it displayed now. ... Although I hope there are measures set up to protect those who are younger than about 18...) As for Silverion, I know he's NOT an ex-admin. I was just quickly listing his name off, and didn't realize anyone would take it quite that way. Sorry. @ Dragontotem --- Thanks for the 'compliment'... lol  ... However, as you can see, I do know what I'm talking about this time around. :P (Hey, I can't hit dead-on 100% of the time!) 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Since I don't have much time with which to post right now, I'll say this: I definitely can say I like the new resizeable applet. Enabled Multi-tasking, FTW!!! 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
My thoughts follow... Better get rid of your avatar then buddy. ;) LOL!!! Funniest thing I've heard yet. However, on a more serious note... :| ... Red on white works just fine (which is why Mlbfan's avvy, and mine, works) ... But semi-dark red on the background of the Tip.It theme? That just makes it hard to read, in which case a user may not learn the lesson intended by the Moderator. And for a user to learn, they have to be able to read. Last I checked, if a person's eyes are burned, then it stops their reading. Why? Human nature causes a person to ignore something on a page that they'd have to strain their eyes to view. Further, it can cause the kind of anger that leads to additional (although accidental) rule-breaking. Although, I just noticed that a red-orange (or dim orange) color with bold might work... What do the rest of you think of it??? Doesn't seem awful on the eyes, and it will get the message across, I think. :-s ~D. V. Devnull

Just ask Lightning/Silverion/Ard_Choille/any-other-'ex-admin'-who-is-still-with-us ... They all happen to know. Personally, I can't blame them for doing so. 8-) ~D. V. Devnull

Again, it IS NOT Tip.It's fault, period. What is happening there is a link break that is being caused by one of the following three sources: [*:2u3x2f6z]Your ISP (If this is the case, you're in for a serious uphill battle. Get help from your image host on this one.) [*:2u3x2f6z]Your Image Host (An e-mail to them should fix your problems.) [*:2u3x2f6z]One of the routers on the way to there (Sorry, fellow forum user, but there is no good way to fix this one.) I'm really getting tired of people trying to drop this problem in Tip.It's lap. Please use your 'tracert' command in the future, and check your path to your image host. It really is not that hard to do. -.- ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

"runaround" = "giving answer to anything BUT what they specifically asked for"... 'Nuff said. :ugeek: blade995, it is safe to assume (given the question they asked) that they are viewing hidden files/folders on their computer... And no, I'm NOT giving them the runaround, especially since I answered their exact question with the correct and appropriate answer for it. 8-) One last thing... Ever heard of someone "blowing steam" over a very simple question with only one exact answer??? Wasn't particularly aimed at the people who didn't give the exact answer. :P ... Anywho, "[/thread]", 'Nuff arguing, 'Nuff said. ~D. V. Devnull

Roberthree, NEVER follow advice like that, unless you fancy losing all your precious data, and the OS you use everyday. :shame: And as for your spyware problems... use the following... Spybot Search & Destroy, located at http://www.spybot.info/index2.html LavaSoft Ad-Aware, located at http://www.lavasoft.com/index.php Enjoy your PC-using life, okay? : ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Hi there, superaymond. I dunno what the rest of these people are thinking, giving you the bloody runaround. However, I've dropped in with the answer you need (and want) to have so that you can do exactly what you wish. You'll find your bookmarks file located within... C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder> ...and it will be named "bookmarks.html", making it extremely easy to find. BTW, those items in italics are reference names, meant to be replaced with the appropriate folder names. I'll leave it to you to fill those in for yourself, seeing as I can't see your folder tree. 8-) ~D. V. Devnull

Everyone, I can tell you with full and complete certainty that these image loading failures ARE NOT Tip.It's fault, period. :shame: ... Put simply, the problems that each of you are experiencing are being caused either by the server where the image really resides, or the routers on the way there. (Again, NOT Tip.It!!! ...) ~Mr. D. V. May I suggest analyzing the code that is used to handle quotes, and how that is parsed during posting? I think it may lead to an extremely nice solution for everyone. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Defunct Access Keys While Posting???
D. V. Devnull replied to D. V. Devnull's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
ARGH!!! :wall: I just discovered the fault lies in the FireFox 2.x-series core. It seems that you have to hold both 'Alt' and 'Shift' for the access key in the page to be triggered. -.- ... Oh well, nothing that I can do about it, but at least this last little tidbit is handy for other FF2-users. : Sorry for taking up everyone's time. :( ~D. V. Devnull -

Defunct Access Keys While Posting???
D. V. Devnull replied to D. V. Devnull's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
Hmm... Only if it has something to do with Logitech versus keyboard signals sent to programs like FireFox, I think. :-k ... Would be a bummer, though, if that was the case. :( ... Although, would that explain the signal going to the menu bar, instead of the web page content? :-s Man, I'm really confused now. :wall: ... Time for me to go check something. -.- ... BTW, does FF2's spell check interfere with in-page shortcut key combos? :| ~D. V. Devnull -
Defunct Access Keys While Posting???
D. V. Devnull replied to D. V. Devnull's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
They worked for me back on FF 1.5 ... Different PC which I was on, though... :-k ... Maybe a difference in the FF cores? :-s ... At least I'll be using that other one again in the nearby future. Maybe I can learn something here. -.- I always have Num Lock on. Thanks for the thought. :) ~D. V. Devnull -

Have you tried Spybot S&D and/or Ad-Aware? :-s (That is, assuming this is spyware/malware, and NOT a virus........... :anxious: ...) BTW, that HJT log would help... :-w ~D. V. Devnull
