Apocalypto
Yes. I'm willing to bet that's why it has a place in the top 10 worst movies of 2006... -.- Even though I haven't seen it I expect it to be nothing short of interesting. I liked Mel Gibson's directing in Passion, I guess that makes me 1 in 10000 but anyway, I'm gonna see this movie and decide for myself about it.

anybody own a dog(s)?
I've an 8 year old black Cocker. She's a cutie but also a [bleep] in the real sense of the word. Steals food, steals paper, steals everything and eats it. She'd take the bite out of your own mouth if she could. Still, we love her and all.

Dumbledore . . . dead or alive?
I completely fail to see the creep factor in it *shrug* In fact, I'm now really curious to see what you mean by that. ^^ On topic: first time I read the book, I saw all the hints that Dumbledore wasn't really dead. Then the second time I read it, I was like 'hmm, I'm afraid he's really dead'. Like JK is playing with it, you know, throwing all those hints because she knows we're gonna interpret them, but in fact, she'll double trick us cause Dumbledore will remain dead. Like with Sirius - how many people think he's not really dead, etc. Clearly though he is. dead ..since no further mention of this had been made in the books to suggest otherwise.

Cheer Uppy Song?
Denis O'Leary - Life's gonna suck No seriously, if you ignore the lyrics (which are quite funny actually), the song is very cheerful, sing along kind of tune. And you'll find yourself humming to yourself as you prance around joyfully 'Life's gonna suck when you grow up, it sucks pretty bad right noooow'. Even more seriously, a song that's cute and cheerful is Joy to the world (not the carol). The one that goes: 'Jeremiah was a bullfrog, was a real good friend of mine/ Never understood a single word he said/ But I helped him drink his wine. Joy to the world, all the boys and girls/ Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea, joy to you and me.' Can't tell you who sings it though. Except that it was sung in an episode of the X Files.

What concert stole your 'concert virginity?'
*envies you very much indeed! Mine was a local band, Phoenix, I doubt any one of you heard of them, although they were rather well known in the field even abroad, but they're oldies. Classic rock, some bits of folk. I was around 10 at the time and my mother took me to see them cause she used to be a big fan. it broke mah ears I must say ^^ Although now I wouldn't have any problems with the sound.

Freaky things?
That's some really cool stuff! I didn't expect it to sound so good. Man, it sounds better than the original. The original is Chopin's Funeral March, yes? And the weird thing, is that the backwards version reminds me of another piece of music, and no, it's not the original version it reminds me of. Does it strike a note of recognition in anyone else? Meh in any case. Lionheart, what was the name of the story you were reading?

Harry Potter 5 Teaser Trailor

women and men equality..
Heheh, agreed. Meh whoever came up with the idea of women's 'liberation' or whatever was a total loser. But for that smartass today I'd be sitting comfortably in a sofa with a book waiting for the cookies to bake.

What movie(s) did you last see?
Heheh. He wanted to make sure he'd get that PG rating or else, there goes the box office hit status. ;d Maybe. Then there was the competition with the Harry Potter movies. I for one have only praises for ROTK (and all the Lotr movies actually, but ROTK is really amazing) when it comes to directing. Storywise now, that's another matter, I have enough issues to fill a small novel. :P

Forum project: The Christmas Song List
I so love this song ;] I'd add: Cliff Richards - Mistletoe and Wine ? - Here comes Santa Clause (I've no idea who sings this, I mean, in the version that I really liked. I had it on a tape somewhere and I remember it's very lively and happy rhythm and I googled for it and saw that Elvis Presely and Bing Crosby are singing it, but they aren't usually famous for singing in a cheerful sort of way. :/). If anyone knows other versions of the song, please say them. Merry Xmas (War is over) - John Lennon

Dragonforce
Iron Maiden is the Father, Dragonforce is the Son and Tolkien is the Holy Ghost. (Amen. ;]) And the word for them is epic, not cheesy. :P Epic, I say *waves sword*

Most Beautiful Words (in all languages)
:o Can you go off topic for a bit and post them? Meh, actually I think I'll start a thread with most beautiful words in any language. On topic: I like the word 'swish'. Purely cause of the way it sounds. It really sounds like its meaning...It's a delight to pronounce :P

. . . Your Earliest Memory. . .
Meh, I remember absolutely nothing from ages 2 -3, like you guys do, even though I have loads of pics from that period, they don't jog any memory. My first memory is a vague one, and I can't place it exactly, I think I was around 4, and I was standing in front of a door, in late afternoon, dressed to go out, waiting for the grown ups to join me and there was a wonderful light coming down from the window, like there are sometimes during summer evenings. And that light was casting shadows on the door and I was looking at my shadow. And I was really happy cause I knew soon I was gonna go out. An insignificant memory, but for some reason, I have a very clear recollection of it.

respect for ones parents
Yeah a bit of spanking never hurt anyone. :P I see kids from time to time on the street that are crying and moaning for the sake of doing so, in that extremely annoying way that kids do when they want attention or want various stuff and they want it NOW. And the parent, usually the mother, is obviously embarassed but doesn't know what to do, she reprimands the kid but in a hushed nonconvincing voice which has the result that the kid only yells out louder. It's obvious such kids were never punished. When they grow up and start having a bit of common sense (those that are blessed with this wonderful trait, of course), then you can reason with them, but when they're small they'll usually behave like little monsters if you don't show some authoritah ;d

Suicide
Erm, why? :/ On topic: I think that there should be made a difference between suicide for emotional reasons (depression, helplessness, the subjective feeling that life is [cabbage]ty and you can't go on, etc) and 'rational suicide' - which basically means you have taken every factor into account and it added up that the most logical way out is suicide. If you don't admit the existance of such a possibility, then you lack imagination. For instance, euthanasia is a form of rational suicide, and it strikes me that in a so called 'civilised and enlightened' society as we're supposed to live in, it is against the law. Also, the 'value' that we place on life seems to me a mindset, a characteristic of modern Western culture. The Dacians for instance rejoiced at funerals and lamented at births. For them suicide was a noble act, and when they were overcome by the Roman armies, this is exactly what they did. Not out of cowadice, but because they were faced with a choice: a proud death or an enslaved life.

40 greatest metal songs
Yeah, I agree this list is a bit restrictive. I'd leave Breaking the law, Crazy train, Run to the hills, Detroit Rock City and Refuse/resist on that list. I'd definitely take out Guns'n' Roses and Slipknot. And, that song by Alice Cooper that made it in this list is not by far his best, imo. But I must confess there are quite a few songs on that list that I didn't hear, so I can't say anything about them. (And the opposite is true, meaning the maker of that list obviously didn't hear a lot of metal songs and bands).

Deathstars and Sabaton
I heard Sabaton, they're indeed a great power metal band. I love their music but their lyrics kinda tire me out. :P Contemporary wars can't be epic.

Favorite Classic Rock Band
Thin Lizzy is the best.

What movies have you seen from the IMDB top 250?
I listed just the movies I saw, and put in italics the ones I liked :P cause some of these movies were a dissapointment, for me at least. ;d 1.9.0 The Godfather (1972) 141,225 3.8.9 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) 124,915 !!! :P Best movie evah! No, seriously :D 5.8.8 Schindler's List (1993) 108,591 7.8.7 Casablanca (1942) 73,308 Lovely lovely! Not at all over rated. Brilliant lines, brilliant acting, directing. So far no one succeeded ;d 33.8.5 Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) 60,423 34.8.5 The Matrix (1999) 159,309 35.8.5 Fight Club (1999) 128,403 36.8.4 Vertigo (1958) 37,585 42.8.4 Se7en (1995) 99,763 47.8.3 LÃÆÃâÃâéon (1994) 60,673 49.8.3 Requiem for a Dream (2000) 56,098 --> wow. It's supposed to be a macabre comedy but the humour is a bit forced sometimes. Still, I liked it because it moved at a very fast pace and was suspenseful, like most old movies, it has a very clever and snappy dialogue. 154.8.0 Gladiator (2000) 103,580 155.8.0 Die Hard (1988) 65Gone wi,164 158.8.0 Gone with the Wind (1939) 32,080 --> I didn't even expect to like this one. But like it I did. ^^ 161.7.9 Shrek (2001) 73,279 --> hm hugely over rated, I didn't like it ;] I know most people in the world would want to kill me for these words. But then again I didn't like Pirrates of the Carribean either. *ducks from rotten tomatoes* and shrugs. 166.7.9 Hable con ella (2002) 14,759 --> meh, this movie is just pathetic imo.... 186.7.9 Mar adentro (2004/I) 6,335 --> I saw this movie last year and it definitely stood out as the best movie I saw last year. 187.7.9 Groundhog Day (1993) 50,117 190.7.9 Trainspotting (1996) 58,134 192.7.9 Twelve Monkeys (1995) 69,054 199.7.9 A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) 10,931 202.7.9 All the President's Men (1976) 14,213 --> I saw this movie when I was a bit younger and I was totally into X Files then (I still am but not to such an obsessive degree anymore) and then it totally appealled to me as it had that government conspiracy idea. It's a great movie imo. 213.7.9 Lost in Translation (2003) 51,236 215.7.9 The Terminator (1984) 66,422 224.7.8 Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? I never heard of it before I happened to see it one night on tv. 229.7.8 Rain Man (1988) 47,537 --> I've no idea if I liked this movie or not, because I don't remember much of it, I saw it when I was very little. 234.7.8 Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) 70,663 241.7.8 Being John Malkovich (1999) 61,141 245.7.8 Bonnie and Clyde (1967) 14,160
