Thank you all contributors, Mod, please lock.
I guess I'm a bit late for this but, meh. The advice given to me by some staff members when I joined the Crew was that if someone posts something personally offensive to you, and you are in a position of authority, have someone else deal with it. If you jump in defending yourself all guns blazing, it does have a tendancy to be seen as power abusing and their wrongful actions tend to be forgotten in the process. Let this topic die, and exercise more caution if the situation crops again. When it comes to your mate, follow Goddess's advice. :)

Holocaust Denial, the BNP and freedom of speech
See, this is actually where it becomes quite dangerous. How on Earth can you define something as "extremist" or "fanatic"? The courts have a hard enough task deciding whether something incites racial hatred or not. I've said it before and I'll say it again, many political analysists would describe my political position as extremist, only my extremism is guided towards liberalism and I would never be purposefully racist or xenophobic; quite the opposite. There are many Muslim extremists who also believe in non-violence. During his time, I'm sure many would have regarded Ghandi as an extremist, or perhaps Martin Luther King Jr.. Extremism itself is perfectly acceptable and converesly is how new political ideologies spawn. However, there is a line at which extremism turns into racist discrimination (for the BNP) and terrorism (for 'religious' groups such as the Real IRA or Al'Queda). It is only at these points extremism becomes dangerous, especially when the ideology is based on hysteria and lies like the BNP's is.

Bubsa Sings for Charity: What happened next.
According to his YouTube, that video was posted over a year ago. I don't do any admin work on Tip.It; far from it, however I know through common sense it doesn't take a year to make a decision about something like that. Ergo, I can safely conclude it was not the video that got him banned. I'm personally with Led-Zeppelin's analogy, if I'm perfectly honest. Although that doesn't necessarily mean I agree with him.

Bestiary Correction
He's not talking about the new revenants... :-s Hehe... "gowsword". I've corrected this. Unfortunetely, we can't give credit for spelling/grammar errors since it's not actual information. Thanks. :

My solution to 'Balanced Trading'
Firstly, I'd like to state I am NOT anti-Jagex and certainly not anti-Communist *points to avatar, although I'm Socialist, not a Communist*. I believe that the justification behind Jagex's policy of removing unbalanced trading to be valid. From a logistical point of the view, the vicious cycle is happening and the fastest way to stop it would be to find a way of breaking that chain, and I've always been a supporter of "tackling the problems by its roots". The planned update does both of this. However, from a philosophical point of view, this is completely wrong. Why should I, a person that has never been punished in-game for anything to do with money, be punished for the actions of a cheating few? I can tell from the tone of Jagex's writing they also feel the same way; they're just struggling to find some way of not punishing us, while at the same time, eliminating RWT. I believe I have found a way, however, it will undoubtedly create more pressure on an already-stretched CS team. As such, it will require some real-money investment on the part of Jagex, but eliminating RWT while keeping the RS population happy, and at the same time, setting an example to the MMORPG community is a worthwhile price to pay. My solution is for all 'unbalanced trades' (however you define that; that's another argument in its entirity) to effectively require authorisation. I'll explain in this chronological sequence (in this example, I have been monster hunting, and want to give my comrades a slice of the profit): 1) I offer the many millions of GP in profit we've earned to my fighting friend. We both click accept. We go to the confirmation screen. Once again, we accept. 2) Another screen comes up, telling us both the trade is deemed 'unbalanced', and as such, will require authorisation from a Jagex employee. The screen asks us to give the reasoning behind the transfer. To spare ambiguity, it should be a checkbox. I check the box labelled "I want to give my comrade a share of a monster drop". The box is filled by both traders to ensure consistency. Perhaps the monster drop should even be required. 3) A Jagex employee checks the claim, and if it seems to transfer is completely benign, the transfer is made. If one of the traders is, for example, a Level 3, the trade is denied, since that person clearly cannot earn a high-level monster drop. I'm not suggesting this should be a live system. It would almost be like a CS query. You send the claim; it's returned in a few days with the result. I believe strongly this is a fair, but rigid compromise to the system Jagex intends to place in. I have a philosophical right to give my hard-earned resources to whoever I want to, within the constraints of the rules of RuneScape. This process may be slow, yes, but it's better than nothing, and it least offers a way (albeit slightly complicated) of trading resources to each other whilst still ironing out most RWTs. Discuss. :D

Do you know the difference between Socialism and Communism?
Now, here's a question. Isn't that like saying the term 'republic' means nothing? Why do assume the term 'Communism' has one meaning? In actual fact, it's never been defined. Ever. Like all forms of government, Communism evolves. Fidel's form of Communism in Cuba may not be the Western view of Communism, but in truth, it is an adaptation of Communism. If we can have multiple types of Democracy in the world (from our proportoinal representation system to your federal system), why can't Communism take many forms? As for Socialism, that's very much still alive. Maybe there are less Marxists out there in that crowd now, but the principle still stands. France is a testomany to that fact. The Socialist female condidate picked up some 40% of the French vote. In the UK, the SNP are slammed for being too socialist even by members of the Labour Party. Many MPs in the Labour Party declare themselves as Soclialsts. I myself am a Socialist, and there are a few more on the forums. The urge for a Socialist revolution may be the stuff of fantasy now, but the principles of the Socialist movement are still alive to this very day.

Monday Poll: What are your plans?
Whilst I can understand the reasoning behind Jagex's decision, I'm still with the majority of RuneScape players who believe that this is completely disproportionate. I want to relate this to real life for a moment. Fraud and money laundering exists in real life, obviously. I'm going to compare two solutions to this; the first will be idealistic and representative of the approach Jagex have taken, and the second will be what happens on this planet we call Earth. The first solution would be to stop the unfair trading of money through the system. An example of this is a Communist or a centralised economy; the amount of money which can be exchanged by anyone is equal to the amount of money that can be exchanged by anyone. With a 3K limit on how much we can earn in fifteen minutes, this is effectively what Jagex have done. The rich 'nobility' of the RS population are no longer allowed to distribute their wealth as they please. If in the real world, a scientist makes a huge technological breakthough, you'd expect them to share a portion of that money with those that got them into that position in the first place. In the aforementioned economy, this can't happen. In order to maintain this, market prices become fixed to ensure everyone has a fair deal (the Grand Exchange, in other words). The economy stagnates to a standstill, everyone earns a 'fair deal', no one can commit crime, and everyone's happy, or so the logic goes. That has problems though. 'Credit', or cash flow, stops completely since no money is running through the economy. If you want a real world example, look what happened to Northern Rock after the American mortgage crisis. The rich keep a tight grip on their money, whilst the poor become poorer, unable to shirt their goods. The gap between the two increases, resulting in tensions and jealousy, and an unwillingness to trade between the two. Production falls, and with it, the entire economy. Now the real-life solution. We employ specialists to identify where the dodgy money is, then we find out who's behind the sites, and then make it a matter of the law, enforcing it through police and the intelligence services. To relate this to RuneScape, what Jagex should be doing is creating a whole new class of mods (employing more people with the millions of dollars profit they make every year if need be), to locate the source of this money, and destroying it at the source, bringing those involved to court in the real world for a breach of contract and earning money through deception. Secondly, they should have focused on making it harder for them in-game, although with fairness they did try this. This solution is completely idealistic and not grounded in the real world. The solution is not to punish everyone by completely stopping the trade of money. I have argued this on another thread, but I have a philosophical right to give my hard-earned cash to whoever I so please, so long as I don't breach the contract set out by Jagex. If I want to give millions of GP that I've worked for to someone, then that's my choice, so long as I don't earn a real-life bonus in doing so. I cannot see where Jagex feel they have a right to tell us how much in monetary value we can earn, and what mediums to tranfer that money through. This is a forced economy. Jagex are in effect telling us what we can and cannot trade; it borders on totalitarianism. This is tyranny, and people don't eat it for long. Reverse your inane decision, or I am leaving RS with 20+% of your loyal, paying customers! If you think you're safe because of your position in the MMORPG business, think again! The home console market is catching up with you at an alarming rate. This decision could very well make or break you as a company. The choice is yours. -.-

10 December 2007 - ALL Updates!
A new class of mods whose sole purpose in terms of moderation is to freeze/prevent autoers from using skills? There's not a lot you can do, but I wouldn't amputate a leg for a paper cut either.

Jagex officially rids their game of RWT's!
"Complete moderation"? This is tyranny. Nothing less.

10 December 2007 - ALL Updates!
I'm paraphrasing here, but I'm I want to quote something Qeltar said in one of his articles: This is an absolute outrage! I do not pay ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã3.20 a month for a supposed 'young genius' to tell me I can't give anything more than 3,000GP to whoever I want to! I have put in the time, risk and effort to earn that money; from a moral perspective I have the right to do whatever I so please with that money, so long as I don't break the rules. Why should the actions of a few RS players be reflected on the entire community. You're punishing us all for the actions of a tiny minority! Congratulations on killing the very spirit that kept this fragile community together, Jagex. And then to have the arrogance to say this has no chance of being changed, no matter what the majority of the gaming community thinks, so confident you're in the 'right' is frankly unbelievable. This is all for nothing either. RWT will still find someway of trading their goods, and you'll have destroyed the economy of the game for absolutely nothing. Words cannot describe how furious I am right now. :x

Death of Essence Running
It appears to me they haven't really thought this through at all. They set up specific worlds which require a free trade agreement, then they take that away. I've never been one to get over emotional about RS's future, but this can only spell disaster for the future of the game.

Do you know the difference between Socialism and Communism?
What partisan teacher taught you that then? It seems like the classic words of a Capitalism-supporting historian's testbook... In a Socialist government, it's perfectly possible to have conflicting views on how something should be run. The only main fundamental difference between ours and America's current government is that in a Socialist government, the proletariat will have taken over the means of production from the middle classes, in effect making the country controlled by the workers. It's still perfectly possible to have a democracy with conflicting viewpoints in a Socialist state. Communism may go further. I wouldn't really know. I'm not a Communist.

Tip.it Times Presents: Maybe It¢¢âš¬¢âž¢s Not About the Money?
I have to admit, when I read the author and the title, I thought this was going to be another one of your crusades for your beloved free market. -.- I was pleasently relieved though. :) I think you raise some good points, and certianly the reasons you listed for wanting to train up skills at a negative profit are correct and I can't think of anything I'd like to add to that list. However, you seem to have overlooked one thing, which is that the level you're at very much defines your own ability as a character in the game. For example, it's pretty hard to go after the hardest monsters in RuneScape without Level 70 Ranged, but at the same time, being able to slay those monsters will bring great rewards once you can get there. Therefore, the exp needed to get to Level 70 Ranged becomes a commodity in itself (Hence why Chins cost so much, yet Black Sallys cost practically nothing). Therefore, whilst we may not be making as much profit (in terms of GP) back on our investment, the amount of exp (which in itself is a return) makes up for that deficit. Ergo, we actually make a profit overall, just not on a strictly GP-based basis. For instance, if I buy 1K Flax for 100,000GP, I string that flax, then string a load of Willow Longs with it... there's no doubting I'll make a severe loss in terms of GP on that investment. But surely, I've gained so much exp in doing that, that that makes up for the loss I've incurred. That's a bad example, I know, but the point is there. The point is that the GE is just having a big short-term effect on the RS economy. It'll improve soon. As for skilling... I'm actually finding this the best time to train up. With Iron Ores so cheap, I could incur a much smaller loss than usual.

(done) GWD's
Are you sure this was actually the three bodyguards? Have you actually got proof? I know that the main boss is poisonous, and that it can hit hard, but I'm not so sure about the other three. In fact, I've asked around the GOF clan, and they seem to confirm that. Excuse us for being slightly skeptical about this - it's just a lot harder to disprove something if we get it wrong the first time round.

On the recent jailing of the Sudanese UK schoolteacher
Out of the how many million Muslims that live in Sudan though? The messages they were preaching are wrong, yes, but let's not twist this out of context. Most Muslims in Sudan couldn't have cared less about this story. It was only the voices of a few thousand compared to the voices of millions of moderate British Muslims that seem to have gotten any attention here.

What if.....Jagex sold Runescape item for real-life money.
RuneScape, above all else, is a game where people compete against one another. Surely, with the classist system in which we live in real life, we have that already when it comes to how much real life money we have? Doing that would remove the idea that the top players are better simply because they're better at playing the game and making money/training skills. Instead, it would become a contest of whoever has more money in real life and, as that article points out, could lead to cases of fraud which would land Jagex itself in trouble for not placing appropriate safeguards. In short, this should never happen to any game.

Hatton vs Mayweather [Boxing]
I'm personally apathetic about boxing, but anything I've heard come out of Hatton's mouth in the past few days has been basically to slag off Mayweather, instead of amping himself up like his opponent has been. I've found that when people feel a need to do that, it's a classic sign of not being sure about their own strengths. In other words, they don't rate themselves as highly as the other person. Mayweather's odds-on favourite anyway. :-w

Update:saradomin godsword special attack picture
I'm not sure on the guidelines for the guides, but don't all images need to be in .GIF format? :-w I know that's certainly the case for the Bestiary entries.

The Wii hands down. It's been over a year since its release, and you can't find it in stock anywhere. :o

Ankou
Either it was already there, or a Crewbie already dealt with this and forgot to lock it. In which case, I'll compensate, and lock this thread for them now. Thanks for trying to help though. :) Locked ~Ginger Warrior

Tip It ooops ?
I sincerely doubt that. Most of the admins' work is behind the scenes. They are not directly responsible for uploading content onto this site; that task falls to the Tip.It Crew, and in this case, myself, Darkblade986 and Fudgy666 as the site's Bestiary Editors. In any case, I have ammended the typo. I presume it was supposed to go with the anti-poison potions. Thanks for bringing to this to our attention, and to whatever moderator moved the topic to its correct location. :) Locked ~Ginger Warrior

House overwhelmingly approves "Offensive Images" bill
I can't see how on Earth America would police this. Take a social networking site, for instance. If someone posts an obscene image on that, that's surely the social networking site administrator's responsibility, and the responsiblity of the person who posted it in the first place; not whoever happens to be providing the Internet. Nor can I see how this solves the problem of child pornography. Surely, using inside intelligence to catch the paedophiles out would be a better tactic? I can't see how this Act helps anything... :|

I reserve this post, I'll upload my codes when I have the time to. :)

OMG Jagex - i declare you stupid
Not at all. At the end of the day, the RWT market exists only because of a psychology of cheating. Remove the idea cheating is acceptable; remove the RWT market. Fairly simple - just a lot easier said than done.

UEFA Champions League/Cup - Euro 2008 - Leagues & Cups
Instead I'll just call you a glory hunter  . Indeed, the correlation between team and success does seem rather suspect, doesn't it. :P
