By my own stupidity, I have staked my bank away. Most of it anyways. in 3 days, I have lost over 850 million gold because of greed and my mind being clouded by it. You lose all sense of logic and reasoning after a point. I've always had a level head, I knew the risks, I knew I should have stopped, but no. I didn't. At one point I was up a billion gold, and would have been up two billion, but then a glitch the other guy decided to use sealed my fate and I lost it. The problem is once you've had it, once you know you can get it, you'll want it again. Needless to say, luck (and PID) was not in my favor, so I stand here at the duel arena bank and look at my ~60k gold. I could sell some items and go back to staking small amounts, but that would be even more stupid than my already idiotic decisions. Since this thread has been made, I have made nearly all of my money back. The following paragraph still holds true to me, however. I have the levels and supplies to go to Frost Dragons or to whatever boss and make money back, but what I no longer have is the will to. This is what Free Trade, and Staking specifically has done to me. It has killed my motivation to play the game. I play RuneScape for the items, to have the best stuff. I already have the levels I want, now I want the gear. You may play for different reasons, I play for my own. Here's my dilemma. After having made nearly a billion and then losing it within the same 5 minute time span, why would I even dream of going back to Monsterhunting, ranging anywhere from 2 to 3.5m an hour? Why even bother? Why slave away clicking endlessly, actually putting effort into something, only to make 1/100th of some lucky guy in three times the time it took him. It leaves me in a bad spot. All the people getting lucky or getting hookups. We have the stakers potentially making millions, and while most will lose it again, some are smart and bank it away slowly. We have the Runescape YouTube heroes taking money off their fanboys or whatever you prefer calling them, for nothing, and you have the people who know how to work the Grand Exchange in their favor and make hundreds of millions flipping items. I am none of those three things. Jagex even said it themselves, since the update, 47 trillion gold has changed hands through trade, staking, and PKing. Knowing this, I find it really hard to get myself back to actual moneymaking grinds, and profiting paltry amounts in contrast to the above three. All in all it has ruined my enjoyment on the game, when I thought it would have done just the opposite. Having played this game almost ten years, I've seen it change a lot. I would have never imagined this would be the thing to ruin my love for it. I just want to know if anyone else feels the same as me or similar to it. [spoiler=For the idiots that don't seem to understand what I am trying to convey with ths thread, Courtesy of Geek Guy] DISCLAIMER: I'm not blaming The updates for my loss of money on RS, this is obviously my fault. I am simply asking if others have lost interest in the game as a RESULT of the update, knowing that while you grind away doing your daily activities, some lucky others are making fortunes you can only imagine having. All I am asking here is if other people have lost interest in the game from these updates, and how. I merely used staking in the thread to explain how I lost mine. THE THREAD IS NOT ABOUT STAKING OR MONEY MAKING. It's about how you play the game yourself. I play it to make money, which is why I focus on that most.

I thought this was sort of unspoken knowledge, purposefully not made into a huge topic for discussion. Here's to it's eventual patch, right as I'm getting jugs of water.

Good luck moderating people when they use their voice. No IRL filter last I checked Also I find it a waste of dev time. Use Skype, TS, Vent, etc. Make updates, not things where there are other alternatives. I'll be damned if Jagex can improve on any current voice options, because you know there's no way in hell they're going to implement IRC bots, or allow file sending / link sending, etc.

Anyways felt this warranted a bump. I notice a lot more Bob's in the Wild, specifically Edgeville now. With the new ability to PJ (Like you used to be able to), seems like the extra healing can come in handy, although Jagex stated you're not supposed to be able to PJ like you currently can. This may or may not be a good update for Summoning tanks because arguably Summoning tanks won't get good loot now considering their combat range has just dropped 8 - 10 levels.

Is the Zaryte Bow the best at anything?
Logdotzip replied to Lugia_Lvl138's topic in General Discussion
I saw one sold for about 520, so I'm guessing that general area. -
New Kill messages, I think lol
-
Has been there for quite a while, when it was first discovered it even had the strength to do various bugs as penguin outside, poh-like weapon stances, various smuggles...etc. Then it was nerfed and half a year later people use it in duels... It is far from an obscure glitch... I know, but I kind of just threw that in there to discourage anyone from bothering to try and find out how to do it.
-
There's another glitch going around involving dung where a player can reset their HP and spec bar twice from anywhere, so be careful whilst duelling. This is apparently an obscure glitch though and hasn't been fixed for ages.

Seem pretty rare, I may have gotten lucky. But I made about 6m in 40 minutes there, woulds stayed longer but a team of pkers killed me... well, tried to. panic yak'd everything.

01-Feb-2011 - The Wilderness and Free Trade Return!
Logdotzip replied to Logdotzip's topic in General Discussion
I ALWAYS MESS UP THE COLOR FORMATTING LOL -
HERE IT IS [spoiler=News Post] As of today, players will be able to trade freely and engage in the dangerous, thrill-seeking activity of Wildy PKing! Saving precarious worlds, slaying ancient dragons and delving in chaotic dungeons is one thing, but dare you test your skills against your fellow adventurers? It's where true legends are born... Wilderness WARNING: The Wilderness is a dangerous place where fortunes are won and lost. There are no gravestones and you will lose all items dropped on the floor. A well organised group of PKers is, without doubt, the most dangerous combat you will ever face in RuneScape, with a range of tactics (and combinations thereof) that would put any boss monster to shame. Do not underestimate the power of the PKer. Only ever travel with equipment you are prepared to lose, no matter how skilled you are. However... As great as the risk is, the potential to gain fantastic gear and untold wealth is undeniable. Take no prisoners and fight to the death! Only the wicked and wise will survive. We have written a few guides to explain to you what the Wilderness is and how it works – a getting started guide, a Wilderness guide and an area guide. We highly recommend that you spend the time reading these before heading north and risking anything. Pay particular attention to information about being 'skulled', as this dramatically affects the items you keep on death. Several items also behave differently when lost on death, so only risk items that you are prepared to lose. Previous tactics of dropping items before death or running back to collect untradable objects will no longer work! For those seeking even greater risk, try our High-risk Wilderness worlds, where the Protect Item prayer and curse cannot be used. Several activities (Clan Wars, Fist of Guthix and Stealing Creation) have now been removed from the Wilderness and into the Gamers' Grotto north of Falador. Please consult the world map or the Game Guide for more details. The wilderness also features: The new, revenant-filled Forinthry Dungeon! Improved drops from the Chaos Elemental. Faster respawn time on the Wilderness runite rocks. Staking Members will now be able to stake items freely, up to any value! Free-players will be able to stake up to 40k in a duel. Free Trade and the Grand Exchange All players will now be able to trade freely, able to give gifts, and decide what prices to pay for items in both player trades and via the Grand Exchange. Every tradable item will have an associated 'guide price', which is calculated from the previous day's trading on the Grand Exchange, with a maximum movement of 5% (up or down). The guide price is just that – a guide. Feel free to offer or demand whatever prices you like. If you would like to know more about trading, look at our starter guide, or the pages on trading and the Grand Exchange. Gravestones Gravestones will still appear if you die outside of the Wilderness. Most gravestones have had their timers doubled. The recently released royal dwarf gravestone now lasts for 15 minutes. All acts of blessing and repairing gravestones have had the cost reduced to 0 Prayer points. Party Room and Drop Parties Players can now place unlimited wealth into the party chest and can have drop parties. If you're worried about your party being gate-crashed, bankers no longer shout about Party Room drops! The POH treasure chest has also had an increase to how much gold they can award. Quests Set in the Wilderness If you're doing Spirit of Summer or Summer's End, look for Summer outside of the Wilderness (just outside of Varrock's north gate). If you're doing Defender of Varrock or Curse of Arrav, speak to Captain Rovin or Hartwin upstairs in Varrock Palace to be escorted safely through the Wilderness. Any parts of these quests that are set in the Wilderness will be in safe areas, so you do not need to worry about PKers while playing these quests. Mod Mark RuneScape Lead Designer In other news... The armour repair stand in a player-owned house now correctly reduces the cost of fixing the torva, pernix and virtus armour dropped by Nex. The Summoning status globe next to the minimap now has a new 'Interact' option.

Just got this

Except that there won't be a penalty for having them in single, unless KB is wrong (entirely possible), or unless there's a last minute change.

Is the Zaryte Bow the best at anything?
Logdotzip replied to Lugia_Lvl138's topic in General Discussion
Price shouldn't be a factor when determining how great an object is. Not everyone is going to train Range with the best bolts all the time. The price of the bow doesn't make it any less useful, just less available. But it will likely drop anyways after free trade. -

This thread got totally derailed. OT though it seems there Zaryte bow is capable of being a Jack of all trades but a master of none. It has it's potential uses everywhere but as of now it doesn't shine anywhere. -

Handcannon doesn't degrade, it goes from there, to not there. -
As you, the entire forum, and probably the world knows, "Old Wild" is coming back on Feb 1st. With it comes the traditional skulling system and original level boundaries. Protect Item finally gets its use back, and there's an actual true risk with letting your prayer drop now. There's one HUGE thing though that it *seems* everyone is overlooking; The Summoning mechanic. Yes, what this now means is no matter what level wilderness you are in, you can summon that Pack Yak or Steel Titan without any penalty towards who you can and cannot attack. A level 126+7 without a Steel Titan can now be attacked by another 126+12 with one. Combat familiar wise, this may not be a huge deal, since most 1v1 fights occur in non-multi, rendering familiar useless (However wouldn't it be cool if Jagex rewrote combat to allow familiars to attack just your target in single way? There would need balancing OFC, but that's a whole nother issue). There are a lot of passive abilities to be considered though, such as the Steel Titan's invisible 15% stab slash and crush defense bonus, or the Lava Titan's invisible +10 Firemaking boost (For Handcannon users). Familiars like Locusts and Forge Regnts may see some use, what with their ability to eat the opponents food or de-equip their items. The Wolpertinger will give a Magic level bonus equivalent to an Extreme Magic potion. There's also Bunyips, Terrorbirds, Unicorns and Pack Yaks to be considered. For those that BoBs are available to, our inventories have all been increased to hold considerably more items. All of this comes with the price of maintaining the familiar, as well as the scrolls associated with it, not even counting the price of the extra food / supplies you'll be able to hold. Finally, for those lucky enough to have a Pack Yak, risk of death may not be too high after all, considering you can summon a Yak last minute to bank all your high-end items. Keep in mind familiars will be a literal extension of the player, so attacking one or being attacked by one will skull you or the other player, respectively. I think a brand new style of PKing is going to emerge, very, very soon, and I think it's going to be exciting as ever. I feel this subject had enough discussion value to merit it's own topic, so please, share your thoughts and ideas on what Summoning is going to bring to the PKing table.

smells like RSOF in here

You can play RuneScape as young as age 9, you'll just have no free chat option. bound to quickchat. If you're gonna try to be a buzzkill, make sure you know the rules before you preach to others about following them. OT cool stuff right there. Nothing I would ever do though

yo I'm looking at Hood, 2H, Hex, Platebody

Yes, because what he wants for his Cracker is representative of what everyone wants for theirs. Tell him to enjoy his cracker, because he'll never be able to sell it if that's what he wants.

I'm interested in keyboard movements, moving off the grid, and preloading zones specifically
