Well, I just finished reading through the thread, and it seems that this wasn't the case.

Someone on Tip.It said that he befriended Emma Watson in-game a few years ago. I have no idea if it's true, though.

Second Life.

Personally, I don't see how a RuneScape film will ever be appealing. However, I think an animated series would fare much better.

You guys will definitely laugh at me. I used to hide whenever the music during the introduction of the National Geographic shows starts playing. (I think it was because of the bass.)

I know this is probably a really dumb question, but here goes: I've noticed that unmarried couples (i.e., boyfriends and girlfriends) often talk about their anniversaries. What does this "anniversary" refer to? The couple's first date? First kiss? The day they decided they were "officially" in love? Or does it vary from couple to couple?

Post Your Notepad Easter Eggs HERE ~ 10 CURRENTLY ~
ixfd64 replied to Atom Smash40's topic in General Discussion
I've tried a few combinations involving various Internet fads, such Chuck Norris, Rick Astley and 300, but I haven't found anything yet. I'll see if I can uncover something eventually. -
I haven't had the time to read all of the replies, but I agree with the original poster. Any level 99 skill, no matter what skill, is still impressive. Cooking 50,000 sharks is no small feet.

Things like this aren't exactly new. My cousin Cathy's middle school had a rule against hugging.

Yeah, I also consider myself to be more of a "scenery guy" as well. I generally prefer going to national parks instead of metropolitan areas (although cities like Los Angeles and Las Vegas are exceptions). Cool! Watch out for real life level 99 thieves (i.e., pickpockets), though. :D Yeah, traveling to Europe is expensive. I wouldn't have gone to Spain if it weren't for mileage points.

My RuneScape character dances better than I do.

According to local newspapers, there were over 100,000 people celebrating.

A few of you may remember me asking about things to do in Barcelona a few weeks ago. Anyways, I just got back from there two days ago! You can read my trip report here and see the photos here. By the way, are any of you going anywhere this summer?

This is a bit embarrassing to admit, but my father thinks my strength level is way too low.

My college is pretty liberal when it comes to rules, so I don't have any problems with them.

Whats happened to the meat shop at ooglog?!!!

I think it was more of a money making method than a way to "transfer." -
All of those are pretty good suggestoins. I'll definitely take them into consideration! :D

Yes, there are legitimate sites that pay you for taking surveys. This is how I pay for my RuneScape membership! However, I probably shouldn't post the names of them publicly since it may encourage people to post referral links.

Are there any unique, weird or downright crazy facts (or stories) about your childhood? Post them here! Anyways, here are mine: 1. A long time ago, my mother once turned off the TV after she got mad at me for doing something bad. I don't remember what I did, but it seriously pissed her off. I then followed the wires and looked into the electrical outlet, thinking it was where the television images came from. 2. I used to think the darkness of night was caused by clouds! 3. In my early elementary school years, my teachers joked about having special powers, specifically telekinesis and the ability to teleport things. I actually believed them! 4. I went on my first "hunger strike" when I was a month old. Our family doctor had recommended that I be fed from a bottle, but I would only drink my mother's milk. I did not want that stupid infant formula! The doctor suggested that I be starved until I accepted the infant formula, but I still did not relent. After four days, my mother finally gave in! I would probably have died had I gone on any longer! 5. I took on the role of Robin Hood during Easter egg hunts. I used to steal eggs from other people and give them to the children who arrived too late! Of course, that made quite a few people mad! 6. I used to live in Sunnyvale, California, many years ago. I once did something bad and my mother told me to walk home from the nearby Ponderosa Park by myself. Having been to Ponderosa Park many times, I was overconfident and ended up getting lost! Fortunately, I finally found my way home just a few minutes before my parents were going to call the police. This incident scared my parents so much that they promised never to do it again! Remember that this was way before cell phones and GPS devices!

My family is taking a leisure trip to Spain (specifically, Barcelona) next month. For those of you have been there, I have some questions. Does anyone know of any fun things to do in Spain? My family generally enjoys trying new things and going to new places, so I'm wondering if there are any places in Spain that are worth considering. Of course, I want to be safe, so I also want to know if there are shady places I should avoid. Also, are there any foods that are worth trying? Similarly, are there things I should steer clear from? I've also heard things in Spain are very expensive. How do the prices in Spain compare to those in the 'States? Oh yeah, and one more thing: thieves. I've heard there are many pickpockets in Barcelona, many of which are quite good at what they're doing. Some even say Barcelona is the pickpocket capital of the world. Is the threat of pickpockets just a big hype, or is Barcelona really the real world equivalent of Ardougne? In any case, I would not want to run into a level 99 thief in real life!

I have a 35 mW laser "pointer" that can burn things.

The God Letters - Bringing them back... (feedback please)
ixfd64 replied to Sanosuke's topic in General Discussion
I do miss the god letters. Since the gods are allegedly omniscient, it would be pretty fun to ask them about things only an all-knowing character would know (the chemical composition of runite, for example). Since Jagex now uses Postbag from the Hedge instead of god letters, there are only a few "omniscient" NPCs that players could turn to, other than the Wise Old Man, Reldo, Mr. Mordaut and possibly a few other scholarly folks. Also, I hate to go against everyone else, but I personally like the idea of unofficial god letters written by players. I've always wanted to how other players would reply to those letters as if they were one of the three main gods. Maybe this would make a great thread in the Varrock Library forum. edit: This thread is from January 2008. -
Bandos Throne room - Did drop rate on G Mace get nerfed?
ixfd64 replied to mbrun's topic in General Discussion
In order to find out if Jagex has "nerfed" the drop rate, you must first determine whether the fewer drops are due to chance variation. A while ago, I wrote an "article" on how to do hypothesis testing: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/User:Ix ... s_rarer.3F Maybe you guys will find it useful. -
I think Jagex's greatest achievement is how they went from an unassuming six-man company to a major name that is frequently recognized in the gaming industry.

Those of you who knew about Jagex since the very early days may remember the "Java Music" section on the company's website. Unfortunately, the section was removed some time in early 2001, but an archived version is available at the following link: http://web.archive.org/web/200101121748 ... usic1.html Andrew basically wrote an applet that allowed users to play XM files on their websites. For those who don't know, XM is one of the many file formats for module files, which are often associated with old school electronic music. The music on the archived page no longer works, but fortunately, I had downloaded them a long time ago. To play XM files, you will need a program like Plouf's ModPlayer, VLC media player or ModPlug Player. I have put together a ZIP file that contains the music, along with the applet: http://www.mediafire.com/?qryim4ntowd The songs are: Chase to the Edge (chase.xm) - written by Andrew in August 1997. This is one of my favorites. ACG Depth (depth.xm) - written by Andrew in February 1997. This track has a jazzy but electronic feel to it. I presume 'ACG' stands for Andrew Christopher Gower. Track 7 (track7.xm) - written by Andrew in July 1997. This is more of a "rave-ish" song. I always picture a really loud techno club whenever I hear this song. Vertigo (vertigo.xm) - written by Andrew in March 1997. This seems to be some sort of trance song. It's not related to the Vertigo games, though. Bounga (bounga.xm) - not written by Andrew. It was written by someone called "moby_of_sanity" in early 1992. Now that's old school! It's a bit hard to describe this track. Beneath Dignity (beneath.xm) - not written by Andrew, but someone called "mr.man/andromeda" in 1991. I've not sure "mr.man/andromeda" refers to one or two people. It is a slow piano ballad but it later picks up speed, along with more instruments. Distant Call (distant.xm) - written by "mr.man/andromeda" in 1993. It's mostly a slow piano ballad. Under pressure (underp.xm) - written by "Snap/Arkham." It's hard to describe this tune. Victory (victory.xm) - there seems to be no information about the author, but this tune was definitely not written by Andrew. Farlander (farland.xm) - same as above. I really like this song; it gives me visions of driving on a country road on a motorcycle through pastures, fields and windmills, like somewhere in Denmark. Some of these tracks are very rare and I don't know of anyone else who has them. If you like them, be sure to pass them to your friends! I've also included the applet that Jagex originally provided. If you look at the logo in the xmplayer folder, you will see something very interesting: Jagex did not stand for Java Gaming Experts in the early days, but Java Audio + Graphics Extension! I've also included the soundtrack for the original Vertigo game. In the original file, there are two tracks - one for the overworld and one for the main menu. Some XM players could not handle this, so I've split the song into two separate files.
