Slayer Sucks
But the comment about my melee stats vs. slayer level - That's another thing I'm sick of. I choose to get far better XP and drops using methods other then slayer; why does that matter to you? The fact that you were dumb enough to waste 100s of hours training slayer disgusts me. (Sarcastic irony, by the way... I realize that some people enjoy training slayer, and like I said I have no problem with that. I just don't like them saying that it is the best way to train combat) The same argument could be used for anything - to see someone with your stats only having 70 cooking, it disgusts me. The thing is that a hard skill(hard being it takes a while) like slayer commands some respect. Cooking on the other hand can be trained insanely easily. If you have 76 slayer with 99 melees, it just shows you stayed in a spot and clicked your pots. Hell, you even said zombie monkeys requires "zero attention". I don't think parking at zombie monkeys, opening up another screen and watching family guy is worth anything. So your insulting me for not having a high slayer level? L0L nice runecrafting level nub. And hunter. And smithing. And agility. And herblore. And prayer. And total level. And blah blah blah. Just because someone chooses to train a faster, easier way does NOT mean you should insult them. Sorry, I'm off my high horse. Seriously, using my 76 slayer as an insult kind of annoys me. I choose to train my combat faster and with less effort; you chose to train it more slowly and work harder for it. It's your choice; I'm not saying anything bad about it, and you shouldn't be insulting mine. New subject, please. :?

Slayer Sucks
I tried, feel free to correct me if I haven't. Oh, and forget Robin - any argument based on criticizing a person's levels is meaningless. Flaming doesn't really bother me, I'm expecting a lot of it over this post. Earlier today at Spiders I was arguing with a level 77 about slayer. He said it was the best money maker, and you could make 'millions' with 99 with abby demons. I said that it was 300k an hour if you were lucky. He replied with 'yeah but u can get a wip'. I tried all sorts of arguments, and he repeated that line several times until I gave up. Some people I'd rather not waste my time arguing with. :|

You... Get... Free... Total.. Levels... I can't really argue there, I guess. But the comment about my melee stats vs. slayer level - That's another thing I'm sick of. Thanks for the last line, but I would like to point out that focusing on the slayer XP does nothing for you XP\hour rate, unless you mean it forces you to pay closer attention. However, my 'argument method', Zombie monkies, requires zero attention - meaning that the XP is still far better then slayer, even if your paying very little attention and not focusing on XP at all. It frees up a lot more time for talking to friends without losing XP, also.

Slayer Sucks
EDIT: This post has been majorly redefined in the responses; items like Armored Zombies and refining of numbers have been mixed in, much of it the result of a 400 page argument between me and ydrasil. It would be a good idea to read the last few responses before you post something. (Note: Please read the entire post before posting) Slayer. The longest, and hardest, 99. The skill loved by all. The skill proclaimed to be the greatest thing since RS2. In short, it sucks. Widely regarded as the best way to train combat, slayer simply isn't. Every thread I see asking about combat goes something like this: *Post about training combat* *Post saying X monster is good* *Post saying Y monster is good* *Post saying slayer is good* *Post saying 'the above guy is right'* *Post saying 'yeah train slayer"* X 8 Same with combat money makers. Reality time: Slayer isn't a good way to train. Slayer isn't a good way to make money. XPwise, slayer is a nightmare. At near maxed stats, you are lucky to get 50K xp\hour. I used to train slayer, but I started to get fed up with it after the new release. I'm on my 49th task, and I should get 50th just so I can buy runes and make a bit of money, but I can't stomach it any more. My tasks went something like: Iron dragons, for the 1000th time, (skip, 41 points left), 60 steel dragons (skip, 11 points left), Mithril Dragons (Can't skip, 11 points left). I spent way too much time trying to kill mith dragons before realizing that it really wasn't worth it. XP per hour with slayer: 50k XP per hour with Zombie Monkies: 110k Yeah. But slayer earns money, you say? Zombies cost too much, you say? Slayer is LUCKY to earn 50k per hour before level 80 (I can't vouch for after 83, but from what I hear it really doesn't pick up a whole lot). A few tasks make a little money, but most tasks I consider myself lucky to break even. Subtract prayer pots\armor repair\Summoning pouches\scrolls\super set costs, and your left with a pittance.Zombie monkies, with my invo and outfit, costs 5 prayer pots per hour, + 1.5 pure sets. XP per hour with slayer: 50k, Profit per hour: 50k XP per hour with monkies: 110k, Profit per hour: (-40k) 1 hour at Zombie Monkies = 110k xp 2 hours at slayer = (If your lucky) 110k xp You turn out 100k (profit from slayer) + 40k (loss from monkies) = 140k ahead with slayer. Hopefully most of us can make more then that in 1 hour. Ah, but slayer is easier, right? No, zombie monkies is standing there clicking a prayer pot every couple of minutes, and running a few squares away and back so that the monkies are aggressive again. You can literally read a book and turn your attention to RS for a few seconds every couple of minutes. Slayer means constantly running around and attacking monsters, or piety switching if you want to train prayer. Danger: Slayer is fairly dangerous; I've lost several dozen million to it, quite a bit from metal dragons. Not paying attention and letting your prayer run out can result in nasty things happening to you. Zombie monkies, on the other hand, and incredibly safe. Your prayer drains very slowly, and in the off chance that it runs out, the monkies hit very slowly. If you do manage to die, you lose proslyte and not much else. Not that it matters; your grave is less then a minute away from any bank with Ape Atoll tele. Slayer is 'fun' - I can't really argue against this one; everyone's idea of fun varies. I do zombie monkies during times I can't pay much attention or don't really feel like playing; when I 'play' runescape, I do whatever I find fun, usually PVP games like CW\Fight Pits, or else get some real training done with chinchompas and whatnot. If, for you, the funnest thing in the game is killing various monsters, you could just as well train at monkies during downtime, and kill random monsters not on task when 'playing'. You'd still end up ahead of just slayer, although if you want to train the best would be to kill monkies steadily. Like I said, opinions of 'fun' vary. The last argument I hear is that if some new item comes out with a high slayer requirement, you can make a lot of money. Which is sort of true, but not a viable argument. Whips were one exception; no one had the slayer level when they came out, and the first people to 85 slayer made a massive amount of money. Dark bows did OK, but few people really had a good strategy for killing dark beasts, the bows were rare, and they dropped like a rock. Put the letters two, eight, and seven in the first three digits of your reply to prove you actually read what I typed. Dragon boots had the same problem, and dropped very quickly, but they remained a decent money maker until recently. However, those perks for the first day or two that items come out will never come close to making up for the fact that you were earning 50k an hour for all those hundreds of hours of training - you could have made more money then you would ever spend by doing something other then slayer for the time. Slayer is downright horrible for training range. I can earn 65k XP an hour right now at level 50 spiders while clicking on my range potion once every 7 minutes, at a minuscule cost. When I have time and feel like doing something, I can get 220k XP\hour at Ape Atoll for 450k an hour with grey chinchompas. With slayer, I can get 30k XP\hour, getting lucky to break even when using decent ammo so my XP rates are acceptable. Meaning that I get 7.3x the XP at chinchompas, for a cost of 450k an hour more. So, I would be spending an extra 6.3 hours to save 450k - 71k an hour. I can find a few ways of making more then 71k an hour, thank you very much. At level 50 spiders, I'm losing 20k an hour to get 65k XP, vs 30k XP for free with slayer. I can make more then 9k per hour, so I like spiders better. Besides that, I can do spiders while paying virtually no attention whatsoever. Training magic using combat, in any way, unless your bursting rock lobsters, is a bad idea. No need to argue that point. In short, slayer is bad for any form of training. The only possible way slayer would be a good thing would be if you really enjoy the skill, and are willing to sacrifice huge amounts of XP and GP just so you have variety in training. I'm welcome to any opinions against this, and I'm sure there will be plenty. But don't post any arguments of the following kind, which I have already covered: 'Slayer is better XP then you say, because I get X xp with Y task' No. Slayer is 50k melee XP at the most, and 30k range XP if you are lucky. With banking time and the time spent getting tasks, the XP rates go down dramatically. And for every 'good' tasks, there is several bad ones. 'Slayer is easier\less clicking\requires less attention and is less dangerous then X method of training' No. I already covered that. Zombie monkies for melee and giant spiders for range, the two methods I use in comparison, require a couple of clicks per minute at the most, and both have virtually no risk. Slayer, on the other hand, requires constant attention for most tasks, and some tasks carry a significant risk. 'Slayer is funner' Fair enough, if you find it fun then that's that. However, read my section on 'slayer is fun'. In short, saying 'slayer is the best way to train combat' is a horribly wrong statement. A correct version would be 'slayer is a slow and unprofitable way to train combat, but if you enjoy the skill it is worth training. Just know that you will be losing out on a large amount of XP and GP.' I have nothing against slayer, but I get tired of people saying that it is the best way to train combat... READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE POSTING. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE PATIENCE\TIME\ATTENTION SPAN TO READ IT, PLEASE DO NOT ARGUE AGAINST IT. Thank you. [hide=]Read the entire thing before posting, PLEASE Seriously, read it. I know at least 90% of the posters won't, though.[/hide]

Bad Connection
First issue: Odd as it may seem, wireless network adapters seem to have a 'pecking order', possibly having to do with how old they are\what enhancements they have. When I use a public internet connection, IE library\coffeehouse connection to download a file, I get fast speeds yet I can still browse web pages\watch videos without a problem, while my friends computer, right next to mine, struggles to load a basic web page. You could try using your router to establish a quality of service reservation for your computer\runescape, but I haven't found an easily solution to this problem :| The disconnection\freezing also happens to me when I use dial up, and is INCREDIBLY annoying. First you DC, then the loading screen comes up, then the whole thing freezes. You can right click anywhere on the screen and get the 'cancel' submenu, but that too freezes until you reload the web page. It started with an update a week or two ago, and I can't find anything to combat it besides a better connection. I hope they fix it, it never did that before. In short, I have no solutions, but I do have the same problems. At least I've finally decided to upgrade to Comcast's 1 Up\4 Down deal, and reserve 50% of network bandwidth for my lappy, so that should solve it. Good riddance.

Making Prayer Worthwhile
I like most of the ideas, but this one really has me scared: It could possibly work against PVP, but it should NOT work in PVM. Seriously, any monster hunting instantly becomes easy. Food, SGS, Unicorn\Buniyp and whatnot would all be far, far outdone by this prayer. Think of how fast damage can be dealt in PVM - this is literally giving guthan-like abilitys to every weapon in every combat style.

How do i beat NETGEAR firewall thats blocking rs?
DUDE I LOVE YOU! i knew i could do the ip and get to the runescape main page, but didnt no how to get the ip of a world. tyvm man, finally a real answer :) Command prompt is your friend : Stuff like this should be put in a sticky; if mods allow replys detailing it, why not cut down on the redundant posts?

How do i beat NETGEAR firewall thats blocking rs?
Really, the best way to do it is to talk to your parents. If they don't want you to play, live with it. Of course, the alternative 8-) Start off with the basic method - if possible, you could simply bypass the router by plugging the line from your modem directly into your computer. That failing, you could try and guess your router password and unblock it, or reset your router and set your own password. Either of those might make your parents suspicious, so you could change the IP of your router from the default (probably 192.168.0.1) to something like 192.168.0.5, and give your laptop a static IP of whatever the router IP used to be. Then set up a personal web page on your computer, and use it to replicatie your router's configuration screens. Obviously this would be quite challenging and take some time, but hey, without Runescape you've got plenty of that, right? Then again, if your parents ever want to change some settings on your router, they're bound to figure it out. Then you can consider any trust bonds broken, and you'll probably never allowed to go near a family computer again. You could also go with the sneaky method - get your own wireless router and hook it up between the cable modem and other wireless router, then turn off SSID broadcasting and connect to it from your laptop. Easy to find, though, if your router is in a commonly accessed place. Setting up a proxy at a friends house is another option, but I'm not sure how RS works through a proxy - I've never tried it, but I would assume that Java would complicate it a bit. If your router filter is bad enough to let you do it, you could simply enter runescape's IP instead of the direct address (The address for World 99 is http://nnap16-bond0-4.jagex.com/p0,g1, if that doesn't work you can try http://64.79.147.98/p0,g1). Either of them will probably work if your router has simply blacklisted 'runescape.com'. Or you could just talk with your parents about it.

Profitable PKing - No RWT
Way to easy for RWTers to find each other - set up a fight that few people would do, IE - Max combat level - exact level or RWTer, prearranged rules that would (Magic only duel, no food, potions, no prayer, summoning on, no movement, no armor, no special attacks, minimum loot restrictions of the max amount the player receiving the cash has - he can bring everything, because he knows he will be paired up with the RWTer) It'd be as easy as the old wildy for RWTers - they wouldn't have to worry about someone else taking them out. The chances of matching up with someone else with those rules are very, very slim, and even then you could easily take care of them - bring all the GP you have in runes and cast your best blood spell on them. 50/50 chance of winning, so no one would try and fight under those rules - and RWT would have no problems.

my idea
Here we go again. 1. Variations in animation are the only 'plus' I see here, if you could call it that. 2. The difference in max hit is small, and the lower level spells are more accurate anyway. Few people train magic by attacking specific 'fire' or 'water' creatures (waterfiends and fire giants?), anyway. Jagex could easily make it work with the existing spells - there just isn't much of a point. 3. That's a sort of valid point, but this is a fantasy game anyway - who's to say that air spells should be slightly lower hitting, but slightly more accurate, then fire spells? 4. And this would solve that how? All of the runes you mentioned are widely used - you want to increase the uses for the rarer, more expensive runes (IE water, earth, air), while reducing the uses for the super common, almost worthless fire runes (It took me 4 days to sell 600 in the GE - they have become essentially 'junk'). This isn't opening up new uses for worthless items, it's reducing uses for near worthless ones. 5. I'm going to guess that you completely missed my point - changing the animations and runes for spells does not increase the range of minigames - Jagex could do exactly the same with the current fire\water\air\earth spells, but they are working on more important things. And assuming your comment was an insult, insulting people offering constructive criticism is generally not a way to improve your posts. I would, for example, be supportive of NEW spells, not modification of old ones. 6. Given the current prices of runes, I really don't think people are going to pay twice as much for the same XP because they like the animation of a certain spell better. And if it was anything like what the current set is, it would simply be a different color. 7. I didn't say costs changing would be a bad thing (although, now that I think about it, even less uses for fire runes and more for waters would probably be a terrible thing), I'm just saying that this change would do nothing... Your just making all the strike spells equal, but changing the animations so that people could pick and choose the color of the bolt they cast. Not really worth shrinking the spell book to essentially 4 combat spells and ruining fire and water runes.

is vista really this bad...
off topic: jesus christ dude....of course its gonna work on ur pc....look at the hardware >_> thats godly....and about 3k+ worth of stuff on topic: kk i suppose ill get a lappy (<-- dont ask) and 2 gigs of ram...thx guys =P $1050, actually. My 1100$ lappy runs vista like a dream. I threw the SSD in it once just for fun, and it beat the pants off almost any computer I've ever used, except for my 'work' desktop with an SSD.

my idea
It's a great idea... except I really don't see the advantage... :?: Sorry, I just don't see the point...

is vista really this bad...
Nowdays, with SP1 Vista is virtually equal with XP in benchmarks - and much faster in real world usage, due to superfetch and other 'under the hood' performance tweaks. There is really no reason to go back to XP. Compatibility is a non issue - I'm running Vista X64 on one of my desktops, complete with 8 GB of RAM, 64 GB SSD, 3.33 (OCed) Intel E8500, 260 GTX, Corsair TX750 and the lot, and EVERYTHING works on it - from ancient applications to an old scanner and printer. I found X64 drivers for every single device easily. The machine absolutely SCREAMS, with bootups in the 13 second range (Go SSDs ), general program execution in the ~.1 seconds, 60+ FPS on every game out there besides Crysis (Ok, 40+ on Crysis...) In short, no, there is no reason not to use Vista.

longsword beats scimmy so bad
It's not that simple a scimitar beats the longsword on F2P. My rune long got a slightly higher attack bonus and slash defense bonus (even better in combination with power ammy). That's exact what you need against a rune scimi + strength ammy user (typical strength pure config) in PvP on F2P. Scimi+strength user: Attack 45 slash defence 0 strength 54 ....Long+power user: Attack 53 slash defence 8 strength 55 I think rune long wins... Actually, it doesn't. Don't look at it from a stats point; there is simply too many variables and who knows what really goes on in the game code. The only real evidence we have is real world tests, ALL of which prove that the scimitar is superior to the longsword. Don't argue about stats, test it yourself. Scimmy's better in every way, period. No need for further argument :P

Guide to Killing the Corporeal Beast
Yeah, the standard 'criticism' for a guide today (if nothing else can be found wrong) is 'nice guide, 9/10... 10/10 if you add more pics). We don't need pics to show us which square to click on, or even of the inventory, thank you very much. Most of us are quite good at recognizing what a 'glory ammy' is without seeing the gold circle and purple dot. Some of us with slower loading connections have issues with them, especially when we're trying to train range while looking at guides... *ahem* Anyway, nice job balancing the pics with the information. I would like to know, though - exactly how profitable is it? Even a *very* rough guess at profit\hour would be nice.

Void knight range
No way. Whats-his-face on the RSOF (some famous guy I can't remember, up there with Zarfot...) did extensive testing with void and d hide, and found that the difference in terms of XP with chins between the two were too small to be measured accurately. At best he found an average of roughly 1k XP\hour better with void. That extra accuracy of D hide really does work wonders...
-
longsword beats scimmy so bad
But that NEVER happens. unles your haxxing. so long run the bit of accuracy and str of longsword could win out. Except that it doesn't. D scimmy, tested over and over, is superior to the D long in every way, on every monster (Except for stabbing metal dragons, but that's besides the point).

TRaining Whip on controlled really viable?
Isn't it kind of obvious? Look at the stats of whip compared to any other weapon - obviously any training method using nothing but whip would be the best :P As for the 'slow leveling' people, your getting XP faster then any other way - your going to get your 100 combat or X level the absolute fastest with this.

Who Is On Your HYT Snipe List?
Wooh wooh, the clue train just hit me and I'm not on it... What's going on with the 'sniped'?

Where did TzTok-Jad spawn for you?
Now picture me standing 1 square to the left of that dot when he spawns. Boom boom, I'm dead. You'd think I would have done better at level 133, but no... I think I'll have to live with a hitpoints cape. I still haven't gotten over it. -.-

Bandos + Barrows
Take a look in the guides section. Toast's isn't bad. :

Dharoks - RFD rock food possible to get back?
You should have trained shared with whip, but looking at your stats that seems impossible :wall: The rockcake is impossible to get back, I'm still mad at Jagex about that. Still, DH is an obsolete way of training strength - with a good summon, you can get XP rates in the mid 90s at zombie monkies with a d scimmy. A sara sword will boost that to 105-108k XP, with whip topping out at 112.5k (My figures). Dh really isn't that great - you usually get XP in the 70s or possibly 80s. It also requires a ton of attention - zombie monkies are (quite literally) standing there clicking a prayer pot a couple of times every 10 minutes, then running sideways and back + drinking a pure set to make them aggressive again. I'm a big fan of them. =D>

Prayer Switching Guide for TzTok-Jad
Not bad. It'd be nice if someone actually made an application with jad's animations\protect prayers on the screen that simulated actually fighting - even without hp bars\attacks, it'd be quite good practice. It would probably violate a few copyrights on Jagex's part, though.

How can i change my email on runescape????
Grammar and language do count... Don't bother changing your email - unless you use your default ISPs email and are now switching ISPs (ew...), leave it. You'll want those emails and access to that account if you ever need to recover your RS account.
