  1. Don't do it if you don't feel like it. If you feel like training melee, go train for an hour untill your bored. Then go craft or whatever you want. Then go play a few rounds of castle wars if you want to. Do whatever you find fun, the levels will come. Yeah, it isn't as fast as powertraining, but I can honestly say I've had fun training; whenever I get bored I do something else.
  2. frankly slash atks have less +to hit and so less accurate, unless its a a 2h which has the lowest speed, and with the defence difference its EVEN LESS! They hit much faster so the small difference is made up for several times over. It's better to hit three times with a 40% chance to hit each time than it is to hit twice with a 50% chance to hit each time. its more like 3 time with 40 percent against 2 time with 70 Nowhere close. Please test your weapons for several hours under controlled conditions before posting next time. I would, but I'd rather spend the time testing something with a less obvious outcome.
  3. it isn't only exp. per hour its also which is better at pking, because monsters are much different than battling ppl who all have different stats due to different armer Correct, it's not only XP per hour. Not only is d scimmy much better XP, it is far better in PVP also. i'm in battle 24/7 with my warhammer, ive tried baxe, maces dont want to cuz ide get killed as im not a pray dude (i am making pray dude w/ maces so i used them, just not good ones) and i had my freind try the longsword out, he said its kills scimmy, but then again all these are prefrences Why are you going to get killed any faster when using a dragon longsword vs. dragon mace? i would agree, its a +11 stat, and FYI i guess ill test to see how many hits per second a ls can do compared to scimmy. Don't bother, D scimmy has been proven superior by many thousands of players. i will test that and prove you wronge, i was just using both and couldnt tell any dif, but now ill actually see how many times a minute each hits If you couldn't tell any difference in speed, you obviously haven't tested them very methodically. Exactly. Also, it must tell you something when about five times more people use the Scimmy than the Longsword lol. There is a reason for it being the preferred weapon  ppl only use it because it looked cool, then it became popular, like the baxe Scimmy looks stupid, and saying people prefer looks over stats when training is rubbish; I haven't seen anyone at barrows with flowers and vestments lately. Scimmy is far superior, that's why it became more popular. If small bonuses are so 'not worth it' why do people spend millions on furys to get a few extra bonuses than glory? Or millions on bandos tasset and sacrifice defence (again saying so small it doesnt matter) but want that tiny tiny extra strength? Or those DK rings? Such a big price on a tiny bonus. You people are redundant. good point, those idiots probably nearly die for thos furys Yes, we're idiots for buying furys. Thank you for pointing that out. I nearly died for my last fury. What? how do u know a dragon is bad against sta? plus ls is bad w/ its stab Because it's been tested, and D long is the best stab weapon. Speed is far more important then a small stat boost.
  4. It is good, it just isn't worth the time to get unless you use it after 99. And there really aren't that many uses for it besides training.
  5. I really don't know, but given the stats, 8% is a good figure. To be honest, its probably worth it - if you really want to train strength, get the SS. I'd advise whip on controlled, but if it was me I'd probably do SS just to max out melees fast.
  6. Think 100-120 points an hour, if your lucky. I miss the old PC with heart unit... :boohoo: Really though, you'd be better off if you just spent the points on XP, or better yet, spent the time training. I got the melee helm + range helm + gloves + staff + 150 points, but I don't even want to bother getting the last 350 for it...
  7. Since when did ponies start restoring prayer? If they have not, then the above statement is false. Pony = 21 HP a minute, SGS = 6 HP and 3 Prayer points per minute, if your lucky and heal an average of 30 HP per spec, and don't spec 6 zeros in a row as I did the last time I tried it. Prayer points really aren't that valuable - we're talking 180 an hour, about the equiv of 1 3/4ths prayer pots, or 14k... Oh, and if Greene is reading this - I've started Piety flashing with whip, and I'm quite impressed - I can kill large batches of green drags every trip for a cost of 6 or so prayer points, all with piety. I'm even *shudder* considering buying bandos, I can't think of anything else to spend my gee pees on.
  8. The 10% difference was about DFS vs. defender; obviously 10% faster training would be significant. I must admit, however, that training with a whip on controlled seems like a better idea the more I think about it. I mean, if your training slayer, your going to end up woth far more XP anyway; why not train it faster? Let's ignore facts then use 37 greater symbols to emphasize our point. Bad bad bad. :shame:
  9. I've had that if I lag upon login. Sometimes it even pops up the message box window, despite me not having any new messages.
  10. Saradomin Sword: +82 slash Dragon Scimitar w/Defender: +86 slash You were probably a higher attack level when you used SS then when you last used a scimitar, as the slash attack is slightly higher then SS. And don't forget that small defence bonus from the defender also :

Like that :wall: A proper phrase would be "you can earn money fletching, then use it to buy bows and spend it on alchs". There's a lot better ways to earn money...
  12. compfreak847 replied to Wizz's topic in Help and Advice
Nah, don't worry. I just get annoyed when people say 'you can make X amount alching if you make your own nats, pikc the flax, cut the yews, make longbows and alch them, so magic is profitable'. #-o
  13. compfreak847 replied to Wizz's topic in Help and Advice
I've got an even better idea! He could do GWD, then use the money he earns to buy 200k nats, then alch the nats for 30gp profit each! That way he can profit by alching! Who says you cant make money with mage : OT: Alch yew longs Someone's going to quote me and call me an idiot for alching nats, I can feel it coming.
  14. It doesn't have a use in slayer tbh. Maybe dragon hunting, but nothing else. Besides DK's or something... lol. Don't use them against any slayer monster besides dragons (I skip all of em anyways) Nechs - I use a geyser titan + barrows, no guthans. Abbys - I pray 10% str with v skirt and pro top... bunyip, no food needed. Black demon - Pray... (Ponies are more expensive than pray pots, no?) Suquas - I pray mage + melee def, it's the fastest way. Hellhounds - SKIP but not needed. Garg - Stupid task, but not needed. Rune defender is the ultimate training weapon, no question. But to answer the original question, train using whip on controlled. Yes, it's that good. Yeah, but because he's already 99 attack\defence, d scimmy would be better if he's looking to max out fast. Why would DFS be better?
  15. Your either praying on Black Demons or you have a pony, and are healed more then enough. Dragons are so obvious I thought I'd leave them out, but I'll let you have that. Suqahs don't hit enough to need it, hellhounds do not hit NEARLY enough to need it, I have no experience with Nechs so I can't say, and you shouldn't bee meleeing mith drags anyway. Oh, and for ranging\maging dragons, a regular antifire shield is better then DFS.
  16. Provide some monster examples.
  17. Yeah, I'd put it at roughly 10-15%. Not so great after all, considering that with 80 summoning and SGS you don't need food on most tasks. PVP its even worse, and its no good for any boss.
  18. On a second thought that sounds good :P I was too caught up w/ the DFS. It's a mania that I used to buy into, sadly. There isn't a single situation where DFS is good for melee.
  19. I completely agree with the above statement. Pony > SGS. Spend the money on bursting lobs instead, I assume you make more then 219k per hour.
  20. Considering your 4 levels away from 99, use a defender + d scimmy. Almost as good of stats. Never use DFS when meleeing.
  21. If it gets to the point where the whole economy is being fubar'd by a small group of players, and that is what is necessary, then so be it. Yea, because I'm sure the main market for unstrung yew longs is people who are buying one of them to string and keep. #-o http://itemdb-rs.runescape.com/viewitem.ws?obj=66&scale=1 What's with the yew longbow thing? No manipulators there. The economy is not in ruins, a small group of players isn't controlling item prices, and drastic measures are not necessary. Did anyone notice the whole PVP worlds thing? There's a whole host of reasons that some items could be behaving in strange ways, and even though some people may be taking advantage of it, I doubt they're really causing it. Think of all the hilts that come in from EVERY bandos world EVERY day. Now consider that happening every day that GWD has been out. Think of the thousands upon thousands of hilts in the game. Then think of the guy claiming to have bought 80. He's not exactly controlling the market, is he? Even if 5 of them each bought 80, they've only got a tiny corner of the market. Oh, and buying 80 at, say 30m each takes 2,400,000,000 or 2.4 billion cash, higher then the GP limit. Not a whole lot of people are that rich. The only thing that could cause real chaos in the market would be a huge, game changing update like PVP worlds, which didn't really do that much - it caused a few items to drop and rebound, but that's about it. Or a massive, wide-scale panic that leads to everyone selling items because they believe all items are going to crash, which, if they do that, they will. And about the only thing that could start that would be a bunch of price-manipulator witch hunts.
  22. I'm still unsure of what the whole price manipulation thing is. Yeah, the prices of some items are going up and down, mostly due to PVP worlds. A few people, myself included, are taking advantage by buying them when they're low, and planning to dump when they're high. And as for restrictions as to how many items you can own, just say NO. That's simply too much control, and what if people want duplicates, say, to loan to friends? Price manipulation is very difficult, and I do not believe a small group of people could significantly manipulate such a wide range of markets as Armadyl\BGS\DFS\Sara brews\Toadflax all at once. The trade volume is simply too high.
  23. I'm not sure why they're getting so much flack; they're being smart, not 'ruining the economy'. And it's not all them... Some of it has to be attributed to the latest PVP world craze, and the fact that all of the high level markets crashed and are rebounding. Oh well, I bought a BGS a while ago and held on to it, and last night I got this: Now I don't know if I should keep or sell my dfs\bgs...
  24. Wrong, barrows is better. 25% defence > 4% strength. I'll take your word for it, but you'd be amazed what concentrating and practicing super fast clicking can do for your kills per hour. I can usually kill about 40% more when I'm actually trying vs. waiting for it to die, picking up drops, clicking on the next one at an unhurried pace. IF you can though, more power to ya. =D>
  25. I'd probably go along with that if I had too, personally I'd say: [*:22ys8gdl]Gold: 2.5K [*:22ys8gdl]Green: 4K [*:22ys8gdl]Crimson: 9K [*:22ys8gdl]Blue: 12K Welcome to the high priced crowd \ 15 blues? How many times have you bursted? More like 4-6. Anyway, 250 crimsons worth of XP for 1.4m means 5.6 k per charm, plus the cost of the time to get them, as I already calculated out some pages ago. Prices could drop somewhat below this - but they could also shoot up. We really can't argue - as was pointed out, if they're cheap summoning becomes crazily unbalanced and everyone would train it, if they're expensive the economy is thrown into chaos. It's kind of like making agility tickets tradable... We're trying to have a debate, not throw a party
