  1. RS2-product. Started May 2004 joined members later that year. I joined before the 'cook all' / 'smith X' / slayer skill / Pest-Control...... So, that would make me '0lD-sKo0l RS2-pr0duCt' ? Seriously, I really don't see why some people find the labels so important. It's the personality that counts.
  2. hmmm, throwing away billions of collective manhours spent on the game, reducing all the things people have played, strived for and accomplished gone in one push of a reset-button. I would say, about half of the people playing this game would find a different button too: 'cancel membership' (conservative estimate). People on F2P having high stats ? Do you think they'll continue to play ? It will cut down severely on the (active) player base and as a result will heavily influence Jagex' position on the advertising market, simply because they have a smaller player portfolio to offer to potential advertisers. Less revenue, from memberships and from banners. Jagex having to cut back on staff, servers, anything. Yep, let's just push the reset-button Jagex, because some people are supposedly starting to lose interest in the game. Instead of Jagex pushing a button, how about pushing one yourself: 'create new character' ?
  3. I can imagine a few sponsored adds inside the game: While killing a dragon: 'case of bad breath? Mentos, zeee freshhhmaker' Killing a goblin: 'Splitting headache ? Tylenol, new and improved' Anyways, reading the corporate message, I guess you can swap 'game' with 'RS-client'. The sponsorhips/adds are distributed through the java-client (which is 'the game') but not through gamecontent. The moment Jagex decides to put sponsored items into their content, is the moment I quit. When I want to watch half an hour of hidden advertising, I'll go watch the average soap on TV.
  4. 2075/23 = 90.2. Time to go work on hunter I guess
  5. My biggest brain freeze was a while back, before the 'operate'-functionality was introduced on items. I used to always have one drag ammy in my inventory to teleport and one ammy on my neck as a back-up for when the one in inventory ran out of charges (yep, I forget to swap them often for fresh ones). It was shortly after fury ammies were introduced and I had obtained one pretty quickly afterwards by crafting and selling death runes to the store. I had been doing abyss runs for about half an hour, changing the drag ammy in my inventory as needed. I ran to the abyss, when I got stopped by someone asking if that was a ghost ammy around my neck. Totally convinced I told the guy that it was a drag ammy and that his monitor colors must be off, or that he was color blind. I guess he didn't like that, because he quickly unloaded a few jabs of dds specials on me. When I made it inside the abyss, I decided to check what the hoopla was about and clicked the equipment-tab. And yes..... there was my fury amulet around my neck. Ever since, I always check what I'm wearing before rc'ing. Then I check again and well.........then again. I mean, I don't mind throwing those abyss pk'ers a drag ammy every now and then, but a fury, that's a tad bit too much ;)
  6. I rather have Jagex finish Runecrafting: the message that you can craft souls/bloods is there when you attain the required level, the rifts are put in place in the abyss. Only the quests that open up the ability haven't been put in yet. This skill is how old now ? Since RS2 started I think ? Grrrr, get to work Jagex !
  7. I don't particularly like the looks of Verac's brassard on a female character: it looks.......well........tacky.
  8. I was doing the elemental workshop I quest, killing earth elementals to raise my combat some, when a strange plant random started growing. I had never seen this random in my newbie existance, so I didn't know what to do. Lucky for me, there was another player training and he knew what to do: he told me to not pick the fruit, since it would give me a lot of herbs in my inventory once fully grown. We had been nicely chatting a bit before that, I didn't really have a reason to doubt him. So, of course the plant fully grew, poison hit me and I had to run out of the area to get an anti-pot. It nearly killed me as well :( I remember this occasion because it was one of the reasons I decided I should go look for information about the game and I ended up finding Tipit. This is about 2.5 years ago now.
  9. Define failure and success. Judged by the number of people wearing skill capes I see inside the game, I'd say they are a big success. They scored high on the tipit general P2P thread on the best updates of 2006, so yes people obviously like them for various reasons. Personally, I'd like them more if Jagex had left out the emotes, but hey, that's just me. They provide something to aim for to some. To others, who already obtained the 99 before the capes were introduced, they were a nice extra feature. The majority of the Runescape skills are non-combat. Still expecting a cape having nothing to do with combat (e.g. thieving, woodcutting) , to give more combat bonuses than the purely combat-based fire cape is not realistic. On that same line of reasoning, I'd say they give more bonuses than I would've expected Jagex to give them. If people expected a cape with awesome unrealistic bonuses, then one could say they are a disappointment to those, but not a failure.
  10. Least admirable for me are fletching and cooking. It's a great feat accomplishing getting them to 99 don't get me wrong. I achieved those long before the skill capes were introduced, so to me, the feeling of accomplishment had worn off already. I haven't bought them yet. I don't particularly like how they look and that would be the main reason for me to buy one (after all, of all the thousands of runescape players, I'm the only one looking at my character 100% of the time). Maybe I'm a little too practical in that matter, but I'm not going to buy something at 100k only to store it somewhere and have it collect dust ;)
  11. I would say a few trips around farms to settle me down. Some woodcutting of magics, though the area sound of those make my ears bleed within one min (so yes, I turn the sound off when doing that). Fishing at Burgh de Rott or Piscatoris. In short, anything that doesn't involve lots of clicking and is away from big crowds will relax me.
  12. Sheesh people, I told you you were part of the debating club on page 2 of this thread. I guess it took alot of debating to finally come to terms with that ;) j/k. I hope this new subforum will provoke some good discussions on various topics of the game. At the same time, I hope enough traffic is generated to attract 'new blood' to this corner, so that we can have people shedding light on subjects from all possible angles.
  13. I'd say a valid point of concern, considering how Jagex handled the 'rule 7 and 9-issue'. Or actually they didn't handle: they just caved in to players' protests. In January's behind the scenes, there's talk of a quest requiring high combat. Of course it remains to be seen what Jagex actually considers a high combat level, but it's a new year so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt ;) For me, a big part of the fun of questing was having to raise my skills to a certain level to meet the requirements. The last time I had to do that, was for Mournings End II (agility) I realise I'm not the average player (I have 5 skills that are below 85, rest are 85+) and expecting that of a quest now is out of the question of course. When I reached a certain breaking point in my skill levels, I stayed away from questing for a long time. If having high quest-requirements also means a captivating story and an overall difficult quest to complete, then I'm all for the challenge. I really enjoyed Recipe for Disaster ;) All in all, I'd say it's another reason to change the whole quest-cape requirement into a set number of quest points, rather than having to have done all the quest.
  14. This is something that has puzzled me as well. I guess the answer is, that you can't put logic or reasoning behind someone's idea of having fun. To each his own, it's what makes people unique. If you ask 10 different people why they play Runescape, chances are you will end up with one answer: having fun. Continue to ask what defines their fun, chances are you will end up with 10 different answers. Personally, I like to be able to do everything in the game, when I want it, wherever I want it, for as long as I want it. I am a total skiller, hoping to get 2100 total a few months from now. To me it's fun to be completely self-sufficient without denying myself a lot of the game content. As a level 3 skiller, there is an incredible amount of game content you withhold yourself: certain quests you cannot do because they involve combat-experience as a reward, weapons/armor you cannot wear, areas of the RS-world that remain inaccessable to you, mini-games, monster-drops (any drops !). Always having to walk, instead of using a spell to teleport. Certain skills you have to stay away from, which as a 'skiller', is quite ironic if you ask me. Is it more impressive ? I would say no. Are you really playing Runescape on a higher degree of difficulty than others ? The distance from yew trees to catherby bank is the same for a lvl 3 as for a lvl 126. The distance from a fishing spot to the fish-guild/Catherby bank are the same for every level. The distance from the mining guild to fally bank are the same for any level. Random events ? Their level 19 randoms have the same attack radius as my level 159 randoms. Just a click away from safety. Monsters attacking you ? The roads going to the skilling spots may be dangerous, but once there, nothing is stopping you from camping it for the next weeks/months/years. I'd rather call the level 3 skillers more noticeable, than impressive. Noticeable, because they are out of the ordinary, not what you'd expect judged on their combat level. So yes, when you encounter one, the name might stick. Of course it will also mean you will have to fend-off the 'autoer-stigma' often. In my opinion, if you look at all the things you're denying yourself, you're not really playing Runescape: you're playing a game that has less content than F2P even. To each his own: if that's your idea of fun, nothing's stopping you from playing the game as you see fit to your fullest enjoyment ;)
  15. lol, I used to play SG and heard some people on it talk about Runescape in regi-chat. I decided to check it out: that's close to three years ago now.
  16. Wayyyyy better than the authentic Runescape music score =D>
  17. Diplomacy/politics : - Level 1: become head tribes man of Tai-bwo-tribe - Level 10: become mayor of Rimmington - Level 20: become mayor of Seers ....... - Level 50: become mayor of Varrock ....... - Level 90: become mayor of Ardy - Level 99: become king of Runescape......go manage your kingdom ! To rise in the ranks you will have to do personalised tasks/mini-quests that are specific to the town (e.g. something related to woodcutting for Seers, thieving for Ardy, mining for Fally and so on). Or you can get certain benefits in skills for being mayor of a town. E.g. when mayor of Seers, you can get 28 maple logs by only cutting 27. Get 55 gps per thieved knight instead of 50 when mayor of Ardy.
  18. I've had the same happen to me several times, also around that particular area, when buying d-bones. Not logging out, but just running away till I hit a new loading block (- loading please wait - message) then running back to the spot solved it for me. It's like it needs refreshing. Hope that helps.
  19. I hope they will finally complete runecrafting and introduce soul and bloodrune crafting. The vampyre theme in the Myreque- and Hallowvale questline seem to indicate it, so I'm hoping Jagex put that on top of their to-do list for 2007.
  20. Around 2.5-3 hours on weekdays. If I have nothing planned in the weekend: 5-6 hours.
  21. Most of the questions I get are about my naval outfit from trouble brewing minigame. They look good if I say so myself :P Alot of people are curious how to get them and/or want to buy them of me (they're untradable).
  22. - 3 Dragon spears: moss giant (my very first ever drag drop woohoo), shadow warrior and one from a nechryael. - 5 d-legs: all from iron drags. - 3 d-skirts: 2 from iron drags, one from a steel drag. - 3 left-halfs: two from steel drags, one from abby demons. - 0 d-meds: ! I used to love doing those 160+ iron dragons slayer tasks ;)
  23. Be *VERY* careful with what you say on RS these days. I know you had best intentions and didn't want to actually trade the accounts and played along. However, a mod doing reports at Jagex HQ doesnt pick up on that, unless he sees the whole convo. Look at your first few lines, where you tell the scammer you're interested in buying an account. If the guy approaching you hit the report button right there and then.....then well......let's just say it doesn't look too good for you :-s So once again, be VERY careful with what you say, even when having best intentions trying to smoke out vermin.
  24. I doubt it. -.- A Dutch kid did, earlier this year. Shortly after I think, Jagex posted their 'responsible gaming reminder' on the homepage. I think it was in March or April.
  25. Depends on my mood: abby demons - alot of my friends hang out there or Burgh de Rott - just me and my harpoon.
