  1. What up bro? Yea, I'm a mod again... interesting stuff innit. As with the fact of Dan, who I too am surprised hasn't died in his haze tent yet. On the side - anyone know what the fate of BEAR is? :-\
  2. I'm tempted to define 2001-2010 as the years of generic mass produced music, mostly thanks to the Idol shows and other spin off crap. Especially if the only thing you want to use as reference are the top hits charts and what dominates the radio.

    Stick Shifts

I disagree - the fact that all you need to do is steer makes it easier for idiots to get their licence. And... This is just wrong. It makes no sense to allow people to only drive an auto for a limited time, then let them drive a manual when they have never been tested on their driving ability in one. They start doing things right - light the 100hrs before being able to go for the P's - then do something stupid like that which negates the entire thing by letting them drive a transmission they probably have next to no experience with.

    Stick Shifts

If you can only drive an auto - you should not have your licence.
  5. In regards to phones... put the damn things on silent/off or you deserve to have it confiscated. You can't answer it anyways, so no point being notified during a class, just check it afterwards.
  6. Watching Corpse Bride right now. It seems to climb my favourites list every time I watch it :)
  7. Nice take, fairly accurate given the pay rises and cushy bonuses they give each other, even if they haven't done anything (eg: a pay rise for their proposals which are yet to be acted on due to having been in office for less than a week *cough*logan city*cough*). But seriously tho, health and education. the majority of other things can take a back seat. Oh, and harden up on immigration.
  8. UV radiation actually cause cancer, not EM. But to address the Technophobia bit earlier, you come across as someone who has personal values in simplicity and hence can't grasp why some people seem to be addicted... or to a lesser degree .. heavily reliant.. on mobile phones. I'm actually quite surprised that you have no dislike towards computers, which - imo - have the potential to be a more negative effect than mobile phones ever can hope to achieve. Edit: for kicks, go an count how many electrical appliances there are in your home, then compare that to how many you can either do without, or use a manual tool to achieve the same end result.
  9. I'll be blunt and say that there are two things I feel are ruining society 1) political correctness 2) technophobia Right now you seem to be someone who fits into cat 2.
  10. Same here actually. I have a K800i, and most of it goes to waste.
  11. I own my phone, I really only have one so that people can contact me when I'm not home. In regards to sms's... if they're not urgent they don't get an instant reply. Calls are another matter tho, I generally try to respond to them sooner rather than later since they tend to be important the majority of the time.
  12. Depending on the type of whiteout, it's possible to concentrate and inhale the fumes for a 'high' - people do it with spray paint (chroming that is) so if they're desperate enough.. whiteout is a decent substitute. Stupid reason to ban it tho, just expel the kids for doing drugs.
  13. When I was in primary school, RE consisted of Christianity only. While I am against religion being taught in (public) schools*, I have less objection to it when the classes cover multiple religions. I also do not mind a Chaplin being at a school, provided they are there to server multiple religions. With that said, the ethics approach is a step in a better direction, I'm not a massive fan of the age group being educated on it but it's a trial so chances are that might change slightly. * Private schools which are obviously focused on a particular religion can do what they want really. If you're going to a Christian private school, expect your RE to be about Christianity only, or at least primarily that.
  14. A nicely modified GQ, GU or Landcruiser. Not a big fan of street cars, concept cars, etc. I do like the Chevrolet Impala tho, very clean.
  15. aren't choo lucky <3:
  16. Ah, but the UK would've been more badass and not such a softie country who really only had the power to 'hold them off' rather than actually push back with any decent force. If anything, the UK could have been the 'top dog' and the rest wouldn't have had the opportunity to get so powerful, except perhaps Russia.. don't think anyone would have been able to do much about them.

    Aspergers

I can't speak for Aspergers but there was a kid at my high school with ADHD and since then I have met multiple people who claim to have it but in comparison to the kid I knew in highschool... they're just using it as a reason to get doped up on meds and be a bastard to people. So with that said, I also know some people with Autism and what tortilliachp wrote of is fairly close to them too. They're damn bright but always getting stabbed in the back by judgmental tossers at the top of the ladder when it comes to looking for work.
  18. Given that the question is 'What would the world be like without the United States?' not 'What would the world be like without North America?' I think those who are assuming the entire landmass is gone need to brush up on reading comprehension, but whatever. With no country, I'm going to assume that the Spanish took claim and it's basically a giant Mexico (or cluster of countries created by Spaniards through wars, etc. Some of which were later taken over by Cuba, especially around the gulf. And the ah.. invention factor, would have eventually happened elsewhere. World wars might not have happened either since 'World Powers' would've been right next to each other, trying to start anything would've been well beyond stupid. At least Australia still would've existed

    Today...

If it's just to get smashed, BYO alcohol is standard. If it was however say a BBQ then I would expect 1-3 cartons of beer and a number of bottles of Coke/Pepsi/etc for the people not drinking alcohol. The food is also expected at a BBQ.. when it becomes BYO meat, etc then you're just entering the world of a cheapskate host and should tell them to diaf. Back to a drinking parties tho, occasionally i see people pitch in for a better deal rather than buying multiple 6-packs, cartons, etc and just get a couple of slabs for less, etc. That's still BYO tho since they usually go out and get it rather than the host, so.. w/e. Bringing your own booze ensures there WILL be something available that you enjoy. Leave it in the hand of the host and you might find the only drinks available cheap champagne or some wine that tastes like warm piss. Or 1 slab of cheap beer that provides enough drinks for 1 each..
  20. Disconnect from the 'net too while you're at it. At least the insecure machine machines

    My Progress

Looks like some solid progress, and for what it's worth.. you can ditch the shirt (check rule #4 - http://forum.tip.it/topic/249174-sports-fitness-rule-book/ ) given it would be for progress shots. Would be slightly "counter productive" given the 10month shot is with shirt, but you can always do it moving forward if you wish.
  22. Been trying to "go fit" for a while.. and now that I may end up in the defence force... i need to get my fitness up asap. even if that doesn't eventuate, i'd just prefer to be fit again, so i can do rock climbing, etc and not be burnt out after 2 climbs
  23. Almost all homes in AU still have antenna for TV even tho cable/satellite is wide spread.. probably because free-to-air TV is still a strong medium and unlikely to go away any time soon.. at least here.. can't speak for the US or UK.
  24. I support the use of .rtf file format for projects while you're working on them, and .pdf as the version you hand in. .pdf opens on basically anything (same as .rtf) but your formatting is not going to break depending on what reader you use, etc and what fonts are available on the other machine, so nice and win.
  25. I would also be tempted to factor in magazines in this issue also, as they also carry targeted "news" articles within them. I can believe a "within our lifetime" end tho. Or at the very least, there is only a small number left to choose from.
