  1. It was a guitar one with giant amps, wasn't it?
  2. I apologize for the semiblurriness of the pictures, I can't be bothered to scan them in, and the pictures I took of them... Didn't turn out amazing. Thoughts, C/c appreciated. Suggestions for other scenes/people to 'minifigize' would be awesome too. Sci-Fi: Fantasy: Action Sports/Goalie: Steampunk: Street Smart/Punk:
  3. Epic, as always, although I do like the new waterfall/knight one better; I think that style is cooler overall because of the lack of black defining lines. I have a request... Will you make me one? :ohnoes: Pretty please? I need to make a contribution to the Gallery now...
  4. Defraggler is made by the same people as CCleaner and it defrags hard drives nicely.
  5. Depends on which Norton you get. The 2011 version is actually decent now. EDIT: I concur with 'don't buy a Dell'. CCleaner - run it. Leave your laptop on overnight, Win7 will defrag and clean itself up pretty well. This might just fix your problem. Do as Dark Slayer said and check the start up programs. Run Spybot/Malwarebytes and do a whole virus scan. Update Firefox if it's not updated, it can eat RAM. I feel like iTunes can do this too, so update it as well. Lastly go through all your stuff and delete anything you don't need; this probably won't help speed that much but it's a good idea anyway. Buy a can of air and check with your computer friend to get the dust out of the interior; again might not help much but worth doing. Check task manager for what's running in the background; if there's weird stuff, google it and find out what it is and if you need it; if you don't, find out how to stop it from running. For kicks get the RAM/CPU usage widget for your desktop and watch it, see what you're doing when your RAM is being eaten. It might just be a particular program that's causing issues.
  6. Women's 9 to 11 generally... The shoes I wear the most are 10.5 womens'. EDIT: Sorry those are US sizes.
  7. Was pretty psyched about the front page of the paper today when I found out they'd sweeped. Nice.
  8. Yep. I live in Michigan too, and one of the worst things is being forced to sit through a class where the teacher can't teach it. Fortunately at my school we only have 2-3 of these... One's a math teacher and can't even teach Alg 2 properly... Other one's a special ed teacher, who's also supposed to be in charge of NHS and doesn't do squat. There are a couple other teachers everybody just dislikes, but it's not because they can't teach. I think they're trying to fix this, or make it so they get paid based on how well they teach. I'm all for it.
  9. Really? Everybody so far has mostly said cutting teachers' pay is the worst thing they could do. Do you know how little they pay for their healthcare, and how nice it is? And there's this thing called tenure, where even if a teacher sucks, they can stay because they've been there. And they get paid more just because they've been there. They put collective bargaining and unions to horrible use by conning the system out of stuff for free. In my school district, they hardly pay 10% for their health insurance, and they get vision and dental (how do I know this? My mom is a non-union employee at the school and doesn't get these things, but knows about them because she can buy into it when she retires). I don't know about you, but my dad works at a large company and gets really great health insurance, and has to pay around 40% for it. I support paying them based on how well they teach. If they don't teach well we should be able to get rid of them. Also; sports programs practically pay for themselves, with ticket fees, concessions, and the fundraisers the have athletes do. The athletic boosters at my school are probably in the best shape of any program. So cutting the money the school gives to them doesn't really do anything because they're pretty much self-sufficient. I'm least against cutting teachers' pay. I'm most against cutting funding for the arts because they hardly get anything as it is, and with the new graduation requirements it's harder than ever to get kids to take them, although they're really awesome classes.
  10. I dunno why I'm posting again, but I am. I recall having written a particularly inflammatory post about (I think) the thing Obama spent a bunch of money on (ARRA was it? American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, yeah that's it) because I was very angry about it. I believe I did actually swear in that post; I went to great lengths to back up my side, but looking back I know it was a bad post and it was just waiting to be deleted/hidden. Even though that's been my only 'run-in with the law' I think there are times when you have to realize that yes, what you said wasn't helpful in any way and was probably a little extreme; so don't expect it to be there later. If you make a habit of this, in my opinion you're just waiting for a response; getting banned is that response, unfortunately. I hate to sound like a broken record, but I think it's partially the users' fault for not feeling the moderators do their jobs properly. If you were a mod, how do you think your life would be on a daily basis?
  11. [hide=offtopic but i'ma answer it anyway] [/hide] In all seriousness, I'm going to take a good long stay at Livid Farm. Once I buy a few ten-thousands of runes. It'd be more interesting if there was more to do, I'd like to see Jagex expand it. What episode did that happen in braw? The only other time I remember ever seeing him smile was on that episode where they were trying to make hoverboards out of leaf blowers. [/hide] The one where Adam dressed as Jamie to see if you could fool a person with a latex mask. Obviously it's possible in a poorly animated gif; it's actually Adam. Looking forward to tomorrow's articles. Hopefully one of them will keep its title.. :P
  12. Day 2. Why do I hate this song? Because it jacked the riff from Sweet Home Alabama, is by Kid Rock who I don't really like anyway, and is just a dumb song. Also, whenever it's on the radio I think it's Sweet Home Alabama, but it's not, it's this dumb song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwIGZLjugKA

    Today...

Got my results for my practice test for AP Calc, missed a 4 by .2 points. So I feel pretty good about it, because in my class of 14, 6 of us got 3s, 4 got 4s and 4 got 5s. So if you average all that out on a curve, I'd end up getting a 4 in the real world. So that's nice. Procrastinating studying or typing my notes for that class because I don't want to. TGTF.

    Today...

I have some of those and I <3 them. Felt like crap today but murdered my calculus AP practice test less than before, so I feel better about it. Got mad at a recording on the phone at a place I was trying to buy something from. Watching Top Gear reruns now.
  15. Erm. Day 1 is hard, I'm gonna go with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Owb3do6ckVc
  16. Sorry, I'm stupid. It's the Tip.it theme I'm talking about, will post a screenie...
  17. [hide=quotes] Speaking as someone whose job is basically heavy graphics work, I can say that with a few exceptions this whole "OS X is better for graphics" thing is a myth. All of Pixar's animators, compositors, riggers, and probably modelers and technical directors use Linux (Fedora last I heard). And their movies are rendered on Linux. Enough said. Not really, I could go on. About use of Linux for general home use however, I would argue that Ubuntu has made it so easy to Get Stuff Done (Too easy for some people) that all of the stuff that the average computer user wants to do is easily just as good or better than Windows/OS X. As for the rest of the stuff, it really depends on what you want to do. Graphics work great- In fact, open-source graphics software is all I use for my job as a freelance web and graphic designer. Video is a little bit more patchy, but it's improving at a rapid pace. I don't claim to know anything about audio, but from my knowingly-uneducated layman's perspective, it's OK at least. Gaming... Well, it depends on which game, Source games (HL2, TF2, CSS, Portal...) and WoW are known to work excellently. Servers, databases, programming etc. on Linux obviously work great but that's possibly not what you're into. [/hide] Hey, good to know. Now I can't defend Macs at all. Though it really ought to be made more well known that Pixar uses mostly Linux, that's pretty neat.
  18. I have noticed, possibly since we switched to the new boards, that the Tip.it logo in the upper left corner (on Deflection theme, at least) no longer links directly back to Tip.it; instead you have to click on 'Home' underneath. I was wondering if this could be changed, as it's nicer (imo) and also easier to just click on the logo to visit the main page rather than finding one word in smallish text and clicking on it. I don't think it would require a lot of effort either... Unless the template for Deflection simply includes a picture spot, then maybe editing the skin could still be looked into? EDIT: It's the Tip.it theme, I don't know what I'm talking about. Here's a picture. I also noticed there's a useless link to Tip.It in the banner under the 'Signed in as vvvv' bit... Since it's already above, and preferably in the logo, you don't need it.
  19. If you prefer to use applications that rely on Windows (like MS Office), or a lot of games, stick with Windows. It also has a small learning curve, as opposed to Linux. On the other hand, you can do just about anything you want with Linux, so if you want to tinker and get everything you can out of your computer, it's probably easier to use Linux. imo, I'd only get a Mac if I was going to do heavy graphics work; I personally hate Apple products. I regularly use a Windows 7 comp and it's great. XP is decent as well, although I prefer 7.
  20. Alright. [hide=Work]9+3 is 12 48/2(12) 48/2 is 24. 24x12 is 288[/hide] Lulz at the last option in the poll.
  21. Exactly what Guy said. I read through that and thought it was pretty great. Tbh I have issues with my fingers typing faster than the keyboard can keep up with me, so I have tons of errors that I have to subconsciously correct. In game I think all I would need is to have somebody say 'English is not my first language' and I would be totally okay with however they ended up speaking (unless of course it wasn't english... then I'd be sad because I couldn't read it :P) I dunno if you use Firefox or not, but it has a built in spell check that might be of use to you, it's just like Word and underlines stuff in red if it's misspelled.
  22. Then feel free to do as the staff that's been posting in this thread has been saying, and report the stuff you find annoying/offensive in RS general discussion. If they don't catch it, it'll run rampant. I am not prone to enjoying discussion about RS in general anyway, maybe because of the crowd that plays it at this point in time. I pop in every once in a while and only see complaints on the huge stickies that I'm not a fan of anyway. I do think that you need to 'build up' or be here longer to be less intimidated by the staff... I've been here since what, 2006? And only maybe into 2009 did I feel comfortable PMing a mod. Getting involved with the community and forums helps to make you less 'scared' of staff and realize they're just real people like you, with a bit more responsibility. I still believe the staff does as best of a job as they can, dealing with a wide range of users who are not necessarily mature enough to express themselves well, and obviously dealing with those who exist only to bother others (ie trolls).
  23. I think the staff does a great job, considering there are many thousands of posts to sort through, and then you have to read them in context to determine if they are contributing or not. I'd rather have it be under moderated than over. And while I can't really speak for the RuneScape discussion boards (I tend to stay in the general discussions, T&C, the gallery, OT, etc) in OT and the other forums I haven't anything I find offensive or that should have been removed; therefore, they're doing their job. So here are some cookies for everybody plus some sour skittles for Tripsis since I know she likes them:
  24. Or not open source, but free to use... Yeah it doesn't actually say that anywhere, but that's what my computer repair teacher thought... Meh I'll just dig out the 2000 disc.
  25. Do I have to have the OS on a CD or whatnot to be able to install it? I believe I have a copy of 2000 lying around somewhere, but 98 is open source now isn't it?
