  1. Nah, I've got the CDs for all the games I'd like to play, just want something that will play them optimally, that's free and open source prolly. @ the question about optimization: Some of my older games do work, they just don't work really well, so I wanted to go a different direction and try using a virtual machine. Some of them don't work at all though. [Lego Island, Lego Racers, Lego Alpha Team were all questionable, even on XP, so they don't work at all on 7. Lego Island 2 is whack because it was designed for 2000 but sucked on it, but the graphics on XP are too nice for it. etc etc.] I looked at VirtualBox a little and it looks like it will do what I want; anyone have any experience with it or care to explain what it's about?
  2. I want to download a virtual machine to play some pretty old games on my computer. It needs to be free, good quality, and trustworthy. Also it needs to work on non-administrator accounts, but that shouldn't be a problem. I have a Windows 7 machine and want to be able to play games from CD [possibly floppy to usb as well] that were designed for 95, 98 and 2000 comps. I don't know anything about virtual machines besides what they basically do, so a link to some info would be helpful as well. One big question I have is can a virtual machine utilize all of the actual computer's RAM? I just think it would be epic to play some random old game super fast because it was designed to work with 128mb of ram.
  3. Happy birthday, Rach! :D

    Today...

Heyo. Got my ACT scores today, a 32 overall. I'm happy with that. All I wanted was a 30 or better. Plus I actually got some Diet Voltage Mtn Dew at Wal-Mart and they were handing out free Sun Chips.

How on earth do you need 2.75 rolls of tape on one tape job for a goalie stick? lol @rpg: sweet car, pics if you get it :D Erm... Wrapped the top 5" or so, then wrapped the very top to be like an inch around knob thingy. Then I overdid it on the blade and used a roll and a half, but it's nice and done now. Also did the grippy part at the top of the paddle with a bunch of tape, then ran some up the stick for good measure. Mostly put so much tape on it to hide a lot of the bright redness of the stick because it was kind of obnoxious.

  7. Still have our purple cube, and three controllers. The off-brand ones fail, but the black one is still great (although we got ours near the end of the console's lifespan, late 2003). Animal Crossing is by far the best, but I also love Super Smash Bros. I never got the chance to play Super Mario Sunshine and I think my childhood was ruined because of that. I never figured out Luigi's Mansion. We also have Pikmin 2, which is really entertaining.

Now I feel awkward posting after those two but here goes. I GOT A BRAND NEW GOALIE STICK FOR $40 YESTERDAY! And I went to a hockey game (where I bought the stick) and they won, and fun stuff happened. Then I used up 2.75 rolls of tape on it.
  9. That's totally awesome. Someone should post this on the front page.
  10. Ah, that's the reason I haven't noticed much of a difference; I'm in the US. Tbh, on image-heavy pages (screenshot thread) it seems to be much slower; it may just be me though.
  11. Is Super Mario 64 good? I'm considering downloading it on Wii Virtual Console, since I've got 1200 points still (got Super Mario World, highly recommend it).

Diet Voltage Mtn Dew IS NOT IN STORES. Liars. I am angry. Plus I have to go to the dentist now, but I have the day off and nothing else I need to do = Mario papercraft, goalie art, Super Mario World, maybe dl VC Super Mario 64. Plus my bro found a $40 lego set on clearance for $20 today, and it's sweet.
  13. For German language movies, I really like The Edukators and Baerfuss. They're pretty epic, the Educators is about some guys who go around threatening rich people [i can't properly summarize storylines], and Baerfuss is about a girl with a psychological problem and a guy who falls in love with her. Both are awesome.
  14. Yeah, I liked the Lost Hero better than any of the Percy Jackson books. Speaking of Riordan, over the weekend i read "The Red Pyramid", which is the first book in "The Kane Chronicles". If you liked Percy Jackson, it's a good read. Yep, I read that recently too. I feel like I like the whole 'Camp Half-Blood' storyline a little better, though that might just be because I'm used to Riordan and Percy Jackson.

    Today...

Found out that the mean ticket lady gave us tickets to next week's game and not tonight's so I didn't get to go to a hockey game tonight. May watch the Red Wings game that's on in a little bit though. Plus I don't have school tomorrow or Friday so I can put together a papercraft, go to the dentist, practice/learn my bass, and generally waste time when I should be studying for a) AP Calc or b) AP Bio, or working on my poetry project for AP Lit. I hate poetry.
  16. Eh I don't think I posted in this edition of this thread yet, so here goes: I sort my M&M's by color and eat them in order: brown, blue, red and yellow (one of each at a time), green, orange. I get my toothbrush wet, then put toothpaste on it, then get it wet again. I pop my eardrums by blowing air into my nose while blocking my nostrils with my hand (did I explain that correctly?). I randomly crack my big toes and knuckles. I generally have at least 5 tabs open in Firefox, sometimes around 20. I have one pen and one brand of mechanical pencil I will use, and freak out if they go missing. (I have mechanical pencils of the type I use that I've had for almost 6 years now.) I can't type with a watch on. I wear my watch on my right wrist, and am right-handed. I can't lay on the floor and read a book comfortably. I [pretty much] only wear khaki cargo pants. The only class I use a pencil in is Calculus. I take all my notes (except Calc) in black pen. I hate blue pens. I eat food 'in order', one type at a time (peas first, mashed potatoes second, steak last, etc). Food items that are not supposed to touch MAY NOT TOUCH. Not even peas and mashed potatoes. I always eat the bread product last at dinner (garlic bread, french bread, or roll). I hardly ever eat breakfast. I think that's it for now.
  17. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, it's awesome so far and I'm only 5 or so chapters in. Also reading Candide for AP Lit.
  18. Sweet! I will be using it. I feel like he could be a little bit bigger though, he's kind of just there in the middle.
  19. What's happened since then? I've gotten a lot busier. I also bought myself a bass for my birthday, a Fender Affinity Jazz Bass, it's neat but I can't really play it yet. Looking into lessons, but I haven't found anyone yet. Plus 3 AP classes, an involved engineering course, and student council with an inept advisor yields me being braindead most of the time. Yeah that's it. I need to do some art asap, I've got Thurs and Fri off but have 2 doc appts on Thurs... Dentist and general, general to evaluate my anti-depression (generic Prozac stuff). It's kind of working, but not perfect... I want to draw a sine graph to represent my response to it.. Something like a normal sine graph represents a normal person's outlook/demeanor, with an amplitude of 1, and a 'baseline' at 0 [so their mood fluctuates from -1 to 1]. Before the anti depressant, I think I would place myself at a baseline of -8 or so, with my amplitude being something like 4 or 5. It spent much more time under the -8 line than above it though. Now I think it has a baseline at -5 ish, so it still doesn't go above 0, but gets close to it, and is less negative; like an amplitude of 2 or 3. So Friday is my free day! OH AND HAPPY PI DAY!
  20. Yeah, I think awards for AoW guides, or having a Times article published (as a guest author), winning a Sig of the Fortnight Contest, or POTM contest, would be awesome. Something else that might be cool would be awards for having been a mod, crew, TET, etc. I think in-game achievements would be okay to 'celebrate' as well, but only a few, like 138 combat or 99 in x skill. So agreeing with pretty much all that's been said, just things that say you're different and good at x, rather than you are superior to all people who've joined since you did, etc.
  21. Holly (Would You Turn Me On?) - All Time Low Heh, now it's Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne.
  22. Hoping you're not obsessed with having renders; if you are I can render these at some point in the near future. Use any or all of them if you want. (Jimmy Howard, #35, Detroit Red Wings) [spoiler=Jimmeh!] EDIT: Nvm, don't use the last one, it's already the one in my sig. :P Dimensions: Same as current, 450x150 or thereabouts. No text, maybe a white border of some sort if you want though.
  23. I like MS Office much more than Open Office; I have a personal hatred of OO. (The only good thing about OO is that it opens a bunch of filetypes.) 2003 is great, although I prefer 2007. I don't like 2010 that much. So go with MS Office 2003 since it's free to you.
