The creators of viruses do it to boost their ego and affect as many users as possible. But this also cost money. Controlling 90% of the market, Windows is the obvious choice, you're correct. It's also because viruses can't do as significant damage on a Mac. The root files are not present at system idle. This goes a step further to prevent applications, changes, installations, or deletions of significant data, without the user password prompt. Does anyone know if Linux's root files are available at system idle on a user account? Am I right in figuring that since they're both UNIX this is true? Vista doesn't let you go to the root of things even when not idle, remember, UAC? ( i think anyway)

Today. I have an Ati card in one computer and a Nvidia card in the other. I do like AMD processors though. Such as the Athlon dual cores and the Phenom 2s.

Go with Nvidia, they make very good drivers. Ati have stronger cards, yeah, but the drivers suck so much that you lose a lot of performance. Also the reason why I'm never going Ati again.

Even with Opera, I don't use the mouse gestures, only the keyboard shortcuts. I have to say, though that I find Opera both safer and faster than Firefox on my computers. I do use both, only, I will probably never use a browser such as Chrome or IE.

I never have more than 5 add-ons. I usually have the securiy ones, and sometimes those that I find useful at the time.

Untrue, there are viruses for macs too. What's your antispyware, op? You could try running scans with Ad-Aware if you didn't already.

Well it's not too bad for the time, but you got ripped off. The computer I have now also comes from 3 years ago, and I'm going to tell you the specs it had before I upgraded it. I paid around $900 in Canadian money for it. Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 <-- Much less bugs than 2002, but still has a lot. AMD Athlon Dual core (2.4GHz) 2GB RAM 320GB hard drive Geforce 7300LE<-- performs less than the card you have Cheap HP 19 inch screen though. Wow, when I come to think of it, I did upgrade that computer a lot O_o, since I'm now on Vista (which runs MUCH better than xp media center used to), and I'm pretty much at the limit of the motherboard for the upgrades. The computer's prices were higher at the time though. Now it's quite easy to have a computer much stronger for much less.

Don't do this with CD's you bought from a vendor though ;) We can still make Iso's with them, depending the protection there's on it. I was talking about international copyright law. As for you, I would try running a registry clean with CCleaner (and the normal clean too), then go to add/remove programs to check if they're there. Try to uninstall them from there if you need to uninstall something.

I would still go for the rosewill. The ones you posted in the post above mine have bad specs for the number of W they give.

You should still bring it to a computer shop to make them clear the dust, opening a laptop is not as easy as opening a desktop to get the dust out of them.
