  1. I have no reason to tell these people to play this game, but since I'm a programming student, at the very least, I can show them how powerful JOGL is. Whether or not they decide to play is up to them.
  2. Word-of-mouth does a lot more for Jagex and RuneScape than some high-priced advertisement.
  3. You want to get realistic? Alright, I can play that game. First of all, your inference that P2P worlds were excluded is incorrect. In fact, the blunt majority of players that complained about the sheer number of bots were members, probably because that's the only class of players allowed on the RSOF. So, that means, if you're right on the number of servers back then (I cannot recall), there were between 15K and 45K bots on at any given time. Second, did you forget the massive display of immaturity by the community? A lot of players took off, and the official number which is floating around is around 6% of the member populace, not including any freeplayer accounts (although I'm willing to believe that only 1% of freeplay accounts took off). I'll get you a source on that the second I find it, but I at least believe it to be true. Third, you also have to account for the number of pures that can't fight in BH. I know mine can't, so I don't play on them much anymore. If they're not on, that will naturally bring down the number of players on at any given time (and you can bet that for every player online now, they have between them 2 to 5 accounts). Lastly, perhaps some of the players had better things to do this summer vacation. It isn't like everyone's going to spend their waking moments of a break on RuneScape, y'know. I sure didn't this past week that I got off, thanks to the DNC; I used that time to finish up two Java programs. If you're going to make such silly inferences about this, you'd better be prepared to back it up with thorough logic. Just because some graph on some site said RS's popularity was slinking doesn't mean everything; you have to find reasons for it. And I believe that I did. EDIT: [Here's my source for that 60K; ninth paragraph.]
  4. There are three types of lies: Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics. Give you three guesses as to which one this falls under. What I'm getting at is that those numbers could mean anything. It could mean the 60,000 players which quit during the December updates haven't come back (and yes, 60K is an official number), or it could be a mix between bot accounts and spoiled brats that had their grand exodus. So, in other words, RS isn't dying because of those numbers. RuneScape will have to suffer a major injustice before it dies, such as removing the ability to speak, trade with other players, or remove various skills. THEN, and ONLY THEN, will I agree with you when I say that RS is dying. [Also, I recall making a snide remark on your previous post. I showed a graph of Tip.it's Alexa ranking, and said that it was decreasing, thus inferring that Tip.it is dying. That is the power of statistics; a weak inference point.]
  5. It seems that you're not one to read the ToS. It clearly states in there that you can make an account if you're younger than 13, but you won't be able to see any chat besides QuickChat until you become of age. Now can we PLEASE let these "issues" die?
  6. Why is anyone trying to debate the value of charms through the method that they're gained? All that really matters is how much people are willing to drop on the charms, and with the sheer amount that come in through Rock Lobsters and Waterfiends, they'd start out high and then fall way down. It's not about how it was acquired, it's about how it's valued.
  7. Question: Why are you going to make him jump through fiery hoops? Most people aren't comfortable with opening their machines up, so just go with an easier alternative.
  8. Provided that you can hook both machines up at the same time, plug the both of them into your router and do file transfers in Windows. If not, invest in an external hard drive -- they're not expensive nowadays, and they can really be a lifesaver in the long run.
  9. Really? Well what the heck happened with the AGS? Did the Bank of Varrock get robbed or something? What is a merchant, well if we ask Merriam-Webster, it says a merchant is so it was clearly not merchants who killed the price of the ags, because they themselves are taking a loss I'm not sure whether I find it amazing or sickening that you totally missed the point of my response. You claimed that merchants were keeping the prices steady - I asked what happened with it. That's as canonical as it gets. If merchants didn't kill the price of the AGS, as you claim, and merchants are maintaining the price for the AGS, as you claim, then what the hell happened?!

To be frank, there's no point getting it past 60. So what if you can mine Adamant and Rune at higher levels? It isn't like it's available in large abundance, unlike Sharks or Magic Trees. The whole skill needs an overhaul. The way it is is just unacceptable.
  11. First, if the bug was unabusable to begin with, then neither of us would have ever heard of it. Second, it doesn't matter if it's harmless or not, any bug is seen as detrimental to the game as a whole. Those that don't understand that don't get that a bug in code this complex can mean any number of things - it could be something totally inane, we don't know, to something that could cause another Falador incident. Rule of thumb: Don't abuse any bug, for any reason, at any time. It's not worth it.
  12. First, have you ever considered that the so-called "rules of engagement" don't apply to anyone, anywhere, at any time? If he wanted to attack you while you were casting Curse, so be it. If he feels like killing you, he has a right to do it, and you have none to complain about it. Second, it's not anyone's fault but your own for being so damn gullible when it comes to this minigame. Win or lose, survive or die, that's the whole freaking point of FoG. Level differences mean little to nothing if you've got a brain in your head. Third, I don't see where Jagex has said over 135 million players. I see accounts, so yes, they took into account that 1 player created more than 1 account for themselves. Lastly, goodbye, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Perhaps when you come back to us next, you'll be a little more mature. A longshot, yes, but perhaps.
  13. I'm sorry, but I fail to see how RS could possibly be in a recession. Sure, the prices of high end things are crashing down about our ears, but how many people does that really affect? The higher end items plummeting down to reality can't constitute a recession. Now, if Yews went to 600 and Coal went up to 300...and getting profit from boss NPCs was nigh impossible...then maybe you'd have an argument.
  14. One word: Bunyip. It's more useful than Guthans, and while collectively more expensive than the set itself, is seen as a cheaper alternative to it. Besides, that set was way overdue for a price drop anyway. The days of when it was worth 9.5M are still emblazoned in my avatar's bank account...
  15. Absolutely not. It isn't like Attack, Defense, and Strength are buyable, so why should Summoning be? Besides, with all the doomsayers about the market ranting and raving now, who knows what they'll start preaching when Crimsons hit 2.4K per...
  16. Before you use GParted Live, please, PLEASE back-up any critical files. Re-partitioning a hard disk is relatively safe, but anything could go wrong.
  17. Well, here's what's wrong with it. It creates silly premonitions about this group of players when they come to RS, and it also creates artificial maturity when a player is a certain age. That's what I'm trying to get at, and that's who I feel is really immature/undeserving to be a part of this community. [My philosophy: Either co-op and grow up, or get out.]
  18. Because every good items is droping in price. Not only the sarasword. All barrow set, all gwd items, whips, dragon boots, dfs and way more. I think everything is gonna go back up in about a months or so  What makes you think that? The way I see it, since the way to get the items you've listed have become simple/commonplace, they'll be going down.
  19. No...the real point of RC was meant to give players a 'free' source of runes, without having to rely on monster drops or stores. Besides, if all they want to do is play that minigame with 50 RC, what's wrong with that? To be frank, it's the exact same goal-setting as someone that wants a pure, or wants to get 92 FM for that minigame, or get 85 Fletching for Magic Longbows.
  20. Well it looks like your wireless IS connected, but I'll need to know what your wireless chipset is before I can finish up. lspci is a valid command; I just ran it and it gave me the information that I needed to know. If it's not installed, that's kinda bizarre -- didn't think that it wouldn't have it. If it's not there, just rattle off the Wireless chipset/card you're using, if you can remember it offhand.
  21. Run an 'ifconfig' command and post the output of that here. Then, if you please, run an 'iwconfig' and post that here, too. Lastly, I'll have you run 'lspci', and post that here, too. That'll help figure out what your ethernet/wireless chipset is.
  22. Really? Well what the heck happened with the AGS? Did the Bank of Varrock get robbed or something?
  23. All weapons follow the same trend as the fabled Abyssal Whip - When more people start utilizing the methods to get it, more of the item comes into the game, ergo the price falls. Why is this coming as a giant shock to people?
  24. Let this be the question to end all questions about this subject. What is so bad about children playing this game? Seriously, let's think about the situation for a moment. People have been upset with players from Miniclip before, only because they believed that they brought immaturity into the game. [As stated in an article I wrote a year ago for RuneHead], I don't feel that age means a damn thing when it comes to a game. After all, it is just a game. You're not even supposed to be able to ask someone what their age is, anyway. Besides, when it comes right down to it, you can say you're as old as you want to be, but that doesn't mean you'll act that way. To be frank, I feel that the players that view others that come from sites as Miniclip or Addictinggames as immature are ten times worse than the supposed "children" that come onto the game. If we're really acting paranoid about this whole thing, maybe we shouldn't be playing -- maybe we should be doing more "adult" things.
  25. When figuring out the price of any item, let alone charms, it's not even remotely about the cost of getting them -- it's all about the willingness of someone to pay for it. Personally, I'd be willing to pay 400 a gold, 800 a green, 1,200 per crimson, and near 6,000 a blue. Not because they're worth it, but because that's what I'd be willing to pay to train this skill.
