  1. It isn't like you're going to lose Rune to anyone or anything, just things that your opponent can use in the heat of battle, such as food or runes or arrows. Besides, a set of Rune is like what, ~180K? That's not a whole heck of a lot to lose.
  2. The only thing worse than your biting ignorance is that you dare call FFXI a better MMO than RS.
  3. That's kind of inconclusive. Basically, if someone has a damn good Internet connection, and is not interrupted for the duration of about an hour, and their machine doesn't suffer any hiccups (disqualifies most Vista users right there), then they can solo the beast. That idea is too subjective to luck and probability, namely the Internet connection. Not all of us have Cable, some of us have a measly 7Mbps line, so I don't think that this method will become prevalent. I wonder if or when people will face the fact that this beast is not soloable.
  4. While I don't think that it's illegal, the companies would beg to differ. Although there's nothing stopping you from doing such, if you own the software, I personally don't think that it's a crime to download a working copy. Just err on the side of caution, alright?
  5. Well, there's nothing wrong with breaking something, but you're trying to jump into an Olympic pool before you learn how to float. :P W3Schools has a few tutorials on its site for the real beginner, and the php.net site has a lot of useful information for beginners as well. Take your time and wade through those before messing with the phpBB include directory.
  6. I don't think that such a thing is possible. More or less, it'd involve that your "spreadsheet" or database be online, and you'd need a script to pull the current GE prices from the Internet or some other intermediary.
  7. When I was learning PHP, I found Pixel2Life extremely helpful in tutorials. Now, there's a lot of them there, but they're broken up into sub-categories to get specific for your needs.
  8. Don't believe there's a way to compress a DVD ISO onto a CD, so you're out of luck there. You might do good if you could find a friend that has a burner, and is willing to let you burn things there. Also, I'm not 100% sure that the Wii will read copied games. It might not even bother with it, since the console may have been hard-programmed to reject game copies. You'll have to look into it.
  9. I was aware that he had everything "plugged in", but that doesn't mean there isn't a short in the line. That's happened to several CD/DVD drives that I've had, so I usually try and check there first. Since it's a desktop, you might do good to go into your case and swap out the power connector for another one that's not hooked up. If you can't afford to do that, make sure that the power connector is in there in the right way, and is hooked up nice and snug. Do the same for your IDE/SATA cable.
  10. The "Presario" part tells me you might be on a laptop, but I'm not 100% sure. Could you clarify? This way, I can differentiate between the ways to fix the two possible problems: loose cable or cable short.
  11. No, that actually is impossible. There's nothing out there that could let you hit often enough on the Beast, and let you heal yourself at the same time. Guthans. How often does the healing effect activate? Now, how often will the Corporeal Beast smack you around for damage in excess of 60?
  12. What exact type of drive are you using, and what exact type of disks are you using? This is very important -- DVD drives are only slated to burn a specific type of DVD-R, so doublecheck what you have.
  13. ...And how many years ago was this?
  14. No, that actually is impossible. There's nothing out there that could let you hit often enough on the Beast, and let you heal yourself at the same time.
  15. Going to take a guess at this as i am no java expert but i think that error means it can't find a class object. Well done. It refers to the embedded advertisement now shown on Freeplayers' login. If you've got adware/spyware programs, whitelist RuneScape.com before you get back onto RS. I'm thinking that RuneScape doesn't like being played through proxies. In effect, what you've created actually is a proxy, and from my experiences, proxy = bad. I also don't know how to set your "internet" up globally so that all of Windows (?) can use it. It probably won't work the way you intend since those devices aren't really designed in mind for someone to use them as hacked modems (although doing such is just plain FUN and enjoyable).
  16. CCCP isn't bad, but I'd go with VLC personally. Supports most any format right out of the box, works great with any OS (as I think CCCP is localized to Windows - bad if you're on Mac/*nix), and it's reliably fast, too.
  17. Okay, the problem is that Jagex won't ever do such a thing. They enforce the unspoken rule of, "If you won't say it in front of your [grand]parents, it's probably not a good thing to say in public." Just use your brain, for God's sake. What you said may have been borderline, but even so, tone it down a bit.
  18. ...but you're taking the exact same view when it comes to bandits. You don't like it when players steal your spot, so we suggested that you try more popular spots. Can't help that they're normally Slayer monster spots, either -- many players seem to enjoy camping dust devils or Abyssal Demons. I go to college too, so my time to play/train is either strained or completely nonexistent. That's a fact of life. But, when I do train, I usually do my slayer tasks. They give more experience for me, since I know how to do it effectively. Anyway, you have to either accept that Bandits isn't the best place to be training, or deal with the crashers. What more could you possibly want?!
  19. On limited lootshare worlds, where teams fight oneantoher I don't see the issue here. If you mean that teams are fighting one another over who gets the spot/elixir, then they need to grow up and learn to cooperate. That's all that is. If they can't, just wait a month and a half until the hype dies down. [sheesh, why do so many people have to be so damn immature over one thing...]
  20. It's a great read, but there is a lot of presumption here. I'm pretty vocal on the matter of the Saradomin/GWD bug, and with some experience as a [Java] student programmer, I can start to pick apart a few of the fallacies. Fallacy #1: Jagex doesn't do enough bug testing. To begin with, Jagex has only 400 or so people employed, with about ±35% working on QA. This means that there's ±140 people testing. This might seem like a lot, and a large part of the major bugs get caught. HOWEVER, (and this is very important as a lot of people seem to miss this), 140 doesn't even register in the face of between 1 and 4 million people testing this game's new feature at once. Those 140 guys know how it's supposed to behave, because they've received dossiers/paperwork on how it's supposed to work, and they could probably view the source of the update-in-question (I dunno which programming paradigm they're using, so I can't say that for sure). Jagex didn't know that the cockroach's range attack/defense was poor in the face of freeplay. Jagex didn't count on over 1,400 people in one person's house, and they sure as hell didn't count on that bug being extended out to the rest of the game world. It's not a matter of poor QA, it's a matter of being outnumbered, about 7,142 to 1 in terms of bug testing. Fallacy #2: Bugs are contestable. Various bugs that have cropped up throughout the history of the game, such as the KBD/KQ safespots, the Guthix Tea glitch, and the GWD door safespot are being contested as "legal features", and "oversights on the part of Jagex QA". Do you think that a level 333 x2 boss's effectiveness should be marginalized to make it easy for one to camp? Do you think that a level 276 fireball thrower should fry warriors without Antifire, but not a ranger in full Karil? Do you think it's right for a level 570+ to not be able to attack you back when you're fighting? It's a weird thing to see players rise up to defend these kinds of things, because it was clearly unintended -- all of these boss monsters [at one point] dropped things worth over 2M, and introducing them into the game at the rate that these safe spots would have would break the game. Fallacy #3: Jagex doesn't have enough QA staff to help with bugs. Well...the truth is that we're really Jagex's QA when it comes to game balance. If we think something's unbalanced, we let 'em know about it. When a glitch occurs, we're supposed to let them know about it. Well, we're supposed to...but even in the article, the Saradomin safespot had remained a secret for months, which doesn't mean that Jagex dropped the ball, but rather, greedy players wanted a leg-up over others, and abused a very critical flaw. I suppose in the end, it was still a great read. But don't go blaming Jagex's QA for all the faults in the game...you're supposed to report them as you see them, too...
  21. ...Or people could learn to just get along... It's not hard to form a temporary alliance to get Elixers, and you'd get part of the loot with up to three people anyway.
  22. The making part's been answered; the difference: Hasta == Spear, except the Hasta is one-handed.
  23. The game revolves around skilling. Hanging out with a bunch of people is great, but most people play to have fun, and [apparently] the only way to have fun in this game is to spend otherwise productive hours levelling one's avatar. I'm torn between two factions, obviously. I like having fun in the game, but grinding gets so damn boring, I don't mind just talking to in-game players.
  24. You can just tell that buy the title. There is no way vista can run on an xbox360. You just made my day. That's got to be the funniest thing I've ever heard -- Vista on a 360. Anyway, while I'm pretty sure it couldn't void your warranty (what, does Microsoft have a vendetta against itself? It's practically running SOME version of Windows, for God's sakes), it wouldn't serve much purpose beyond proof-of-concept. It's not powerful enough to handle typical day-to-day tasks of the average computer user.
  25. Magic isn't nearly as expensive as it used to be. Consider Ice Barrage, the strongest Ancient Magic spell. With Bloods at 600 and Deaths at 300, it would cost on average 2.4K a cast. Now, with bloods/deaths at 275 and 287 respectively, it's more like 1.7K a cast. Not to mention the amount of runes entering the market. So I can't see how magic is getting expensive. It's more tedious than it used to be, but not more expensive.
