  1. Oh, I see everything clearly as far as the hibernation goes. Wubi, while a great beginners tool to Ubuntu, won't let you hibernate. I haven't worked with it personally, but from reading reports of it from 7.10 until now, my guess is that it won't let you hibernate because there is no swap partition. Again, I don't know if that theory is true, but I can confirm that Wubi won't hibernate for now. As far as the sound goes, flashplugin-nonfree should work.
  2. So RS is now on Addictinggames. So what? Do you mean to tell me that this entire community is supposed to be pedophobic?
  3. Well, how would one go about making those items easier to understand? Poisoned Dragon Spear Super Poisoned Dragon Spear Karambwan Poisoned Dragon Spear Ultra Super Poisoned Dragon Spear ... Personally I like the shorthand better. Just flip through the KB and you'll get it sooner or later. Adamantine. I thought it was Adamantite. What is Adamantine?
  4. Looks like the novelty wore off. People are starting to demand it at a lower price, that's all there is.
  5. 1) Who knew you were Asian? 2) Why did you say your MSN anyway? It doesn't take but a minute to think about the situation. What compelled you to give out your MSN anyway?
  6. For what it's worth, that's a good all-around machine. Just so long as you don't plan on playing Crysis or UT on it or something, you should be just fine with it for school.
  7. No no no no no, Smellysocks is obviously on to something here. I also feel that RS without merchants would be Heaven. Here's why. Merchanting is, for lack of another word, a draconic practice. With the GE, we don't 'need' them anymore to jack prices up sky-high. This of course doesn't include making a very quick dollar, meaning selling slightly higher than someone right next to you. I realize that there are others that won't share my sentiment, but I feel that RS would be far better off without merchants.
  8. http://www.jagex.com/corporate/Jobs/vacancies.ws <- Hover over those links and you'll figure it out. [Just three and a half more years before I hop over the pond...]
  9. I didn't realize that an update could be done in as little as two months. Just be patient, they haven't forgotten.
  10. I can't truly take it for granted because of the complexity of gameplay that I do. Boss monsters > low detail, tiny screen. Although I'll admit, nearly a month of playing RSHD and your eyes can't properly adjust to the tiny screen...
  11. The only way it'd be a blessing instead of a burden would be if it were the turn of '07, and I could have sold it for 99 Smithing. :D But yeah I agree with you (except for the extreme paranoia in regards to hacking; you have okay security or what?), a rare at this day and age is nothing more than an eyesore. An expensive eyesore that burns holes in one's pocket.
  12. Specs. What is your ethernet card, what's the device you're trying to connect to, are you using dial-up, etc... I can help you, but I can't if I don't know what you need help with.
  13. Taking a tower hard disk and slaving it to a laptop just isn't possible without an external kit. Try as you might, you won't find an IDE (SATA) port on a laptop, nor will you find the appropriate power hookup either.
  14. What will happen? Nothing. Players will just be using them more.
  15. The main problem here is that the threat of a nuclear attack is a Catch-22 -- if they use theirs, we'll most likely use ours, and that will NOT end well for Europe. Outside of that, it sounds more like a hollow threat than anything that's to strike fear and terror in our hearts.
  16. If Ice Barrage never stacked, what made you think that ZGS's special should?
  17. When I was younger, playing RS was a huge thing for me. Then my folks got concerned. They didn't punish me or take it away or anything, but it at least sobered me up to the whole grind-fest. Besides that, I'm too old for my parents to care about what games I play online. [Just as long as my mother, who is several miles away now, isn't in earshot when I play Diablo II or Starcraft...] EDIT: It's not like me to skip two pages of replies, but this caught my eye just now: Just because something in a game resembles something in real life doesn't mean anything. You've got to realize that parents will demand their children do something constructive with their time, and if they don't think that RS is constructive, then it's 86ed. Besides that, a 9-to-5 parent can't hold an interest in RuneScape like their child does, and to top that off, they'll eventually realize the amount of time it took their child to get where they are now, and gain yet another anti-RS stereotype. (Does more harm than good.)
  18. Oh dear God, I haven't noticed the most important thing in this thread! Make absolutely sure that you have an XP install disc, NOT an XP recovery disk. If you have the latter, your friend will be sourly disappointed. Besides that, while I don't really prefer using it to wipe a hard disk, the XP install disc comes with an NTFS partitioner built-in. If you wanted to reformat, just delete the partition, then reinstall.
  19. I'm doubting that it's a trojan at this point in time. Do you just so happen to have AOL internet or AIM services?
  20. The truth about what's so good about Linux and Ubuntu is subjective to the source. I'm an Ubuntu person, but that doesn't mean that it's right for you. What many people seem to believe is good about the OS boils down to two facts: 1) Free (as in freedom) - doesn't cost a thing for you to use it; if you paid for it you'd only pay for support (depending on the distribution you received) 2) Less virus-prone - like it was stated earlier, there's a lesser likelihood that you'll become infected with a virus (which doesn't mean you won't be a carrier) because of the lower market share ...and the rest falls subjective. I can tell you this much -- the reason that I do like Linux is that when something breaks, I can turn off all the fancy stuff and get to the root of the problem. It also runs lighter on my machines, as opposed to Vista (even though this machine came with it in the first place). Lastly, it's fun to give it to relatives, since you can rest assured that if they break it, you can fix it, and if it's broken in the first place, it doesn't take long or much to fix it.
  21. It's not that Blizzard didn't care about it, it's just that they went about it using an inefficient and expensive method. Let's think about it for a second. WoW and RS have rules against RWT, and both frown upon it. Now consider that RWT companies can pop up out of nowhere, and disappear just as quickly. Not to mention, international laws often times make it tricky to legally pursue someone for this kind of breach of contract. Jagex did it the effective way. They control their own game, not the worlds' legislation, so making changes in-house is way, way, way, way, waaaaaaaaay easier than going after one RWT company.
  22. A facemask? are you serious? I'm asthmatic, so when I dust out my computers I usually put something over my mouth and nose. What were you thinking about?
  23. If you can't play on a hard surface (or otherwise fan-cooled surface), then look into getting a cooling pad. That might help the temperature regulation. [Although I still think that the Intel embedded chipset can't play HD...]
  24. Alright, so to begin with, I'll need some specifications. Can't solve this problem without at least that. As far as the missing rscache goes, if you *really* have to, then open a command prompt and type "mkdir .jagex_cache_32". It'll be set with your permissions. Then, to change the default Java, go to RuneScape -> Play Now -> Java Options. You can change it from there.
  25. If you don't use HD, then the only real other reason would in fact be overheating. Clean out your entire PC. Wear a facemask while you do it; that thing probably hasn't been opened in a while.
