Flaming...
How ironic. I fail to understand why some people are ranting over nothing, as well. Perhaps you can help me out with that.

Rethinking Bounty Hunter
I've got two pures, and I've used them on occasion to go to Bounty Hunter when I'm bored out of my mind. There's a handful of flaws with it, but it's something that I'm sure that people would disagree with me on. Currently, the only high-level craters that have any activity whatsoever is on 17 or 18. This means the other two worlds do NOT get any usage as far as that is concerned. I've talked with another BHer, who happens to be a longstanding PKing buddy of mine, and he agrees that there should be some kind of limit to the number of people in one world, as far as BH is concerned. There are three ways I'd suggest revamping BH. One of them is indeed the restriction of players in BH at one time. Since I'd wager a guess that 3/4ths of the server is genuinely at BH, we can cap it at 1,500 players total at any one time in any crater. This will force them to move on to the other worlds. The second method is to eliminate the 3-crater system, and expand the BH fighting area itself. Inside, create three zones. Zone-1 would be for the lower levels, Zone-2 would be for mid-levels, and Zone-3 would be for the high levels. It might create *some* confusion for the lower-mid levels, but keep in mind that there was plenty confusion to be had at Mage Arena. The final method would be to change the way that a fight could be initiated/ended, and how a player is rewarded. If you're a target, regardless of what zone you're in, you can be attacked by your Hunter + Rogue. Keep in mind that on freeplay, armor is really overpowered, so you're not likely to hit anything in combat (using my highest level character, 119 cmb/96 A/D/S). So, to that end, I propose the following: If you're attacked by/attack a Rogue: Defense or attack falls to 3/4th of original level, and weapon speed is increased by 1. Rangers get an extra hit in, and mages' spells do slightly more damage, and hold for 5 seconds longer. If you attack your Target: +15% A/S/D/R/M and a chance to hit 5% higher than what you would. You should not be able to exit the arena until after ten seconds of combat. You should not be able to run from combat if you engage an opponent. Rewards: If you kill your target, you gain their armor + an extra 25% of the equipment's market worth right off the bat. You also cannot be attacked for fifteen seconds. If you kill someone that is not their target, restrictions remain the same + you may not run if someone else attacks you. Yeah, I think that's good enough. Of course I'm probably way off, and no one would really like these ideas, and that's fine, anyway.

Obsidian (Zerker) Necklace: What Happened to it?
In the practical sense of our day-to-day training, we find much less exotic/expensive methods of training, save for the Saradomin Sword. Whips are about as common as Rune now, and so are scimitars, so players will opt to use those a LOT more often than an Obsidian Weapon + Berserker Necklace combo. Players also don't use an Obsidian weapon on a daily basis, so the Necklace becomes moot. Oh, not to forget the Obsidian pures that used this; they're long gone now.

FM needs good update, read tifers ideas 5K+ Views!
not exactly. the highest shade requires that you burn them with magic pyre logs. when you do, you get the rarer silver keys and have a slightly better chance of getting the better reward. I would train my firemaking to 85 then forget about for awhile... I kinda forgot about that part, it's been years since I've pyred. At any rate, I do believe that Shades of Mort'ton is long overdue for a revitalization.

RSOF Prices Just as 'Whacky' as G.E?
It's all the merchant's fault. Their instinct tells them that the GE is broken, so they use these methods to rob players blind.

Account Sharing: Jagex, Players, Yes or No? Kinda Bad?
In the most common analogies I've seen on this thread, they all fall under the same pattern -- I just needed the help, or for them to do something for me just one time. I suppose I'll be frank and state that I am absolutely against account sharing, and my reasons are as follows. My first reason has to do with the analogies above. My philosophy is, if you can't do it yourself, you shouldn't be doing it. Sure, there are many things I could barely handle myself in-game, such as getting a Fire Cape. But I did it eventually. Puzzles, tricks, getting out of tricky spots in-game -- I managed to get through them myself. Let's not even get started about quests, as I recall writing the quest guide for Mourning's End part II (Maze) for another fansite. I was able to persevere through all of it, and managed to take care of it myself. People have asked me to get their Fire Capes or do their quests or what-not, and my answer has always been the same -- "If you can't do it yourself, you shouldn't until you can", followed by a swift report. My second reason has to do with the recent RWT updates. Now, Jagex has done a fantastic job of locking down the system so that RWT barely exists, but what happens if you're all of a sudden permitted to trade accounts? BOOM, we have ourselves another problem. And as much as I enjoyed the updates to the game last December, I'm almost certain that no one (myself included) wants to go through the thousands of whiny voices everywhere about a new "no account-trading update". Psh. My final reason is a simple one. If you lose your account, you're going to feel bad, and want compensation, no matter what you agreed to. Players aren't going to read the fine print of everything they sign up/agree to, and if they don't, they're going to make more work for moderators everywhere. I guess it's just a huge can of worms to be opened up that no one needs.

What is the use of Quikchat only worlds?
Notwithstanding the pleasant silence you experience, it's the place where underage players can actually play, since their accounts are locked into Quick Chat anyway.

Changing wired IP
What OS are you using? I know it shouldn't matter when we're dealing with wireless, but I've never seen that error message before.

How to make sure you can play RSHD! ALL PROBLEMS LOOK HERE.
@Chibby: I've figured out what's wrong with your predicament. According to Jagex, your graphics card -- an Intel 915G -- will NOT run HD. [Source] @Killerred005: Go more in-depth about this "pinwheel", and provide OS information as well. If the OS you're running is Vista, chances are you don't have enough available RAM to run the game. ------ I'd like to provide a little bit of information/quick FAQ to this guide, since many players are running into similar problems. I'll also provide some preliminary Linux [Debian] support as well. The most common issue that players are running into is that the game will load, but will look garbled or will crash eventually. The players also report that they have already done everything in the FAQ on RuneScape.com; updating Java and their system drivers and what-not. The problem here is that the system does not have enough available RAM. Nowadays, most operating systems (especially Vista) take up plenty of RAM, and while 512MB is the bare minimum to run most OSes, you'll be cutting it close as far as HD goes. Some advice to remedy this most common problem: Buy more RAM. Paging/swap file does NOT count. 1-2GB is commonplace, and not expensive -- you can find what you need at Newegg, or your own local hardware store. Also, keep in mind that 4xAA is rather taxing on older graphics cards, and even if they support them, chances are that the system will run hot/shut off unexpectedly/crash. Always bear in mind your system's specs, and make sure if you run RSHD, run it reasonably. Some Linux Support: Confirming if you can run RSHD: This is a lot trickier to do on Linux than any other machine, since chances are, your machine's processor is being throttled down to conserve power. Many newer processors do that nowadays. Anyway, the best way to check your machine's information is through a little tool called sysinfo. To install, type sudo apt-get install sysinfo. Run it (found in GNOME under Applications -> System Tools), and go through it systematically. Click the CPU tab to see your CPU specs. If they appear lower than you think they should, note the processor's model name (mine's an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57), and search online for the machine's specifications. Click the Memory tab to see how much you have available. This will also tell you the current capacity of your memory and how much swap you have. Click the Hardware tab, then click the "Graphic card" drop down menu. Expand whatever is there, and this will tell you the type of graphic card currently installed on your machine. Enabling fullscreen support, direct from the RS Website: Get to a terminal and type the following to ENABLE the modification. cd/usr/bin/X11 sudo cp Xorg Xorg-backup sudo sed -i s/XINERAMA/ZINERAMA/g Xorg ...then hit CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE to restart X. You do *not* need to restart your entire machine. Note that this will end any graphical programs you're running; make sure to save whatever work you have open at the time. To DISABLE the modification, type the following. cd/usr/bin/X11 sudo sed -i s/ZINERAMA/XINERAMA/g Xorg ...then hit CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE to restart X. Finding Graphics Drivers: For most distributions, the graphics driver that you require at bare minimum can be found in the repositories. However, the driver in the repos can often be out-of-date, and *may* not work with RSHD. [Your mileage may vary; I was able to at least enable fullscreen/look at login screen with an out-of-date NVIDIA driver. I say "at least" because I'm not a member yet.] Installing a graphics driver for Linux is NOT for the faint of heart. If you do this, you must be prepared to re-compile it for EVERY kernel update. If you're not, stop reading now. IMPORTANT: Before you do ANYTHING, make CERTAIN that the OLD driver that you're currently using is UNINSTALLED. Also, make sure you have the following dependencies resolved [depending on your graphics card this may be incomplete; please seek to resolve these dependencies BEFORE compilation]: linux-restricted-modules-common xserver-xorg-core libc6 libgl1-mesa OR libgl1 libglu1-mesa OR libglu1 libx11-6 libxext6 gcc libgcc glibc glibc-devel glib2 glib2-devel gcc-c++ libstdc++ libstdc++-devel [NVIDIA]nvidia-new-kernel-source [NVIDIA]nvidia-settings NVIDIA drivers: 1) Visit the NVIDIA driver download site, select your card and architecture, and download it. After it's downloaded, move it to your /home/$user directory. This is much more convenient for when you have to re-compile. 2) Drop down to another terminal (tty). This is best accomplished by hitting CTRL + ALT + F6. I've used this terminal, or tty6, personally through Ubuntu Linux, with no hitches whatsoever. 3) Type the command sudo chmod a+x NVIDIA*, the * representing a TAB on your part, to autocomplete the name of the driver. This will make it an executable file. 4) Type the command /etc/init.d/gdm stop to stop X/GDM/KDM. This is required of the driver install. 5) Type the command sudo ./NVIDIA*, the * representing a TAB on your part, to autocomplete the name of the driver. This will start the installer interface; accept anything that it asks you to, including running nvidia-xconfig on its own. 6) Type the command /etc/init.d/gdm start to start X/GDM/KDM. Provided that nothing went wrong, you should see the NVIDIA logo before your login screen. Extra: Install a userspace utility like nvidia-settings to confirm the version of your drivers. ATI Drivers: I'd prefer if a Linux/ATI user came up and wrote this part, since I have no experience in it. However, I was able to find a How-to here. I cannot confirm if it works or not. RuneScape [HD] on an x86-64 kernel: The only way to get RuneScape, let alone HD, work on a 64-bit distribution of Linux, is by using the following tutorial, provided from the Ubuntu Forums. Assume nothing, and read everything in this mod tutorial. [Tutorial for Java on AMD64 Platforms] ------ I hope I helped a little bit. :P

Changing wired IP
We're talking about from the Internet/WAN side, right? If so, then restart your router. It's as simple as unplugging it. If we're talking about a home network/LAN side, then - For Windows: 1) Start -> Run -> cmd OR type in 'cmd' in the search bar. 2) Type in the commands ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. 3) Provided the router you're on doesn't have an infinite lease time for your IP (some do), you'll be with a new IP address. For Linux-based OSes: 1) Get to a terminal prompt, or type in CTRL + ALT + F6 (if you do, you'll have to log back into your account). 2) Type in the command sudo iwconfig and find your wireless device. It should be the only one that pops up. 3) After you've found it, type in the command sudo ifconfig $WIRELESS down; sudo ifconfig $WIRELESS up, taking into account that $WIRELESS is your wireless device. 4) You should have a new IP. :D 5) If you used the CTRL + ALT + F6 method, now is a GOOD time to hit CTRL + ALT + F7 to get back to your display.

can someone help me with new rs hd
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=748849 <- That's the link to the topic. Read through it, post questions if you have any there. I'd also advise that you put in your system specifications, too -- you won't get very much help if you don't say how powerful your machine is.

Cramped Worlds
I don't know about you, but the whole point of paying for RS membership is that it's 2/3rds cheaper than the competition MMO; as such, you'd never find me paying $30 monthly just for a few extra rocks or trees. I'm almost certain that the OP's point was that they wanted more resources in the worlds, and that can be accomplished much more reasonably than just adding more servers. I see adding more resources in-game as a long-term solution, rather than adding ten more servers for a quick fix.

No Longer An Age Requirement to Play RuneScape
Relax. No need to panic about "kids" invading your precious game, if they're honest.

Jagex, you're spoiling part of the adventure!
I agree with you, and this has been one of my latest complaints. These "BTS" give us way too much info and sap the fun and thrill right out of it. I'd prefer it if our updates were given to us in anagram format, as such we'd have to figure it out before next week. Even then, keep it so that little information is given in the actual anagram. :D

FM needs good update, read tifers ideas 5K+ Views!
The old point of Firemaking, which was lighting fires for others to cook them with, is now beyond moot. Take a look at the world map -- there's hundreds of ranges available now, and I've yet to see any player light a fire on the docks and let others take advantage of it. Let's be for real about this. If Firemaking were to receive a [desperately needed] facelift, what would that entail? Fire's usefulness only extends so far in RuneScape, where so many places have no need for it. My preference would be that the Shades of Mort'ton minigame get a revamping, making it possible to get more blessed oils before it crumbles, and amp up the rewards (possibility of a guaranteed valuable Treasure Trail Item from Fiyr shades). Barbarian Pyre logs only go so far, since few people get them as drops (50 miths, zero bones), and you only get to do it once, meaning it's neither constructive nor productive. I had a suggestion a long time ago in the "High Level Skills" thread, back when Mod Craddock was running it. My idea was that you could throw fire on your opponent for additional damage, lighting fire and doing medium damage to those with flammable things on (capes, magic robes). Of course, that'd be better suited to flaming arrows in bulk, but a man can only dream. Oh, one more question -- who else here wants to see Firemaking + Barrel Bombs finally unite?
-
Second time through the womb.
You've understood the thread, I presume. Bravo. -.- Anyway, I don't know if you should be given a second chance. Here you've admitted to breaking numerous rules, scamming, and the like. It feels like a serial killer who stole my car, torched my house, and came after my puppy is begging me for a second chance. I just don't know. Forgiveness is one thing, but if the PKers got wind of your existence (one of the people that changed their "Wilderness")... Look, if you want to come back, that's up to you, but if you don't learn from your past, you're going to be doomed to repeat it.

The treatment of F2P players
Has anyone heard of the addage, "The pot calling the kettle black"? If you haven't, here's a quick rundown -- a pot and kettle blacken with continued use on the stove, but the pot only sees the kettle's imperfections, and teases him, while ignoring the exact same imperfections on himself. Anyway, that's what I feel when Members call Freeplayers immature. There's obviously going to be some mature freeplayers, but since people only see maybe 25 act a fool, then the whole of F2P is "guilty by association". I just feel like members really should drop the holier-than-thou attitude, since they're not acting any better than the really immature F2P players.

Yeah, fire arrows exist, but they don't do any more damage than normal ones, and they're *only* useful during the Underground Pass Quest, in that *ONE* part. It'd be nice to see a new take on Firemaking, but we dunno what those blokes at JT have in their heads with it...

Got black marks for offensive language - unfair!
Sounds just to me. You knew what it was, and you knew that it would be offensive, so why are you upset that you're punished justly?

What will happen when the next "mega item" comes out?
I see a flaw in it already: Merchants en masse buy this good at 10gp a piece, then trade it off for massive profits.

I view looking at hard numbers and "saving money" as inefficient training. I'm certain that those that burn Yews are out to have fun and enjoy it, and it probably saves them time (I know I'd be looking at a third less clicks if I went that route).

laptop making weird noises eeek!
Much easier solution should be tried first. Unistall the driver on there now AND then install the latest driver. How the hell does a laptop fan have a driver?

Bank Deposit Boxes?
There's also one conveniently situated near a HUGE mine north of Yanille, which is the one for the Trawler minigame. Trust me, when Trawler was buzzing with popularity, that drop box was a godsend.

RS broken?!!?
Probably an applet loader bail. It'll display a white screen in general if the applet will not load (probably did away with the white background, red X). Tell us a bit more info -- what's your OS/system specs?
