  1. So sorry that you're a one-trick pony, but the game can't be made to cater to just you and your habits. Time to expand your horizons, or have fun elsewhere.
  2. Gin_and_Tonic's point is actually very interesting, and it seems probable. Junk trades could very well be used as such a loophole. I'm kinda worried now...if something isn't done about this, we could have some serious issues with RWT in the future. A player can circumvent the GE's regulation on prices, and now has full range/domination over the system. That's at least how I get the idea. Dunno how you missed that. ...I don't wanna know how you know that. Seriously.
  3. When you and your Dad aren't really doing anything with your machine, just run it, then jot down your IP address. After you start it, go to Capture -> Interfaces, then select the one you believe to be Wireless. After it's started, enter this as a "filter": ip.src != 255.255.255.0 || ip.dst != 255.255.255.0 ...where 255.255.255.0 is your own IP address. (And no, that address won't work in it as is.) If you see any activity on that system, then you've got someone pilfering your bandwidth. Cruiser has already explained how to reset your router, and you should be able to get in to block their MAC address from ever accessing your system again. (A MAC address is simply 6 hexadecimal numbers, sometimes with colons inbetween...like {00:FF:00:FF:00:FF}.)
  4. Pretend that you're someone that has absolutely no clue what ALT+F4 does. Pretend that they drop their things and hit ALT+F4. [Don't worry, it's not kids that don't know what ALT+F4 does -- I'm sure that a ton of teenagers don't have a freaking clue, either.] Learn to talk with some sense instead of stupidity, and you won't get black marked. [Off-topic: The airport analogy made me laugh.]
  5. Time for you to leave, I guess. If you can't present your debates in a mature and non-detrimental way to those that participate, then you're not welcome. Proof's in the pudding too -- you just don't know how to behave around here. As for your post, I have four pure accounts. Four. They can't operate in BH, but then again, I'm not fazed by it -- I only played them on occasion, and if I was on them, I would normally do something I enjoyed elsewhere in the game. I had fun with my pures in and out of the Wild, and even to this day I can find fun in and out of the Wild. Do us all a favor. Take a long walk off a short dock. Do something in your own real life instead of trolling these forums. Maybe you could use a sabbatical too, if you can't tell someone to "get out" without swearing like a sailor. [i guess long months wasn't long enough...] As far as I was concerned, you were doing alright until you said this. PKers were a deplorable community with their manner of speech and questionable maturity, but I don't think that they were intentionally killed off. After all, PKers still exist in Bounty Hunter. Restore what faith I had in you and not speak of such silliness again. I'm going to say this again for you, you don't have to reply the freaking post! So shame that you are not here to discuss the content of this topic but only flaming someone. Its expected all the universal people will come and blame we wilderness pkers harshly. However, plz dont forget this: Wilderness pkers are still deserved the rights to ranting in the tipit ranting forum. Even wilderness pkers dont like the way of Jagex doing, they still deserve to log into runescape anytime. Actually, you have no rights. You have choices, though -- to either pay or not -- and if you pay and still complain, you have the discipline of a child.
  6. 1) I didn't know Teaks were freeplay. 2) Teaks are much more valuable banked. 3) Willows, in my experience, seem to be a lot faster (and dropping the logs is 100% optional).
  7. Willows, as already mentioned, don't have any other purpose in the game besides quick Woodcutting experience. When I am forced into a sabbatical, I'll probably get 90-95 WC there. As such, I'll be bringing in tens of thousands of the logs into an over-saturated market. But uh...Hohto did a very nice job of explaining the entire situation and what-not, so I'll just leave it at that.
  8. We don't need to know that. More power to you, though. [see, this is the kind of thing that gets on people's nerves, more or less. Folks that come on, say they have a girlfriend, and we can only assume that they met them online.]
  9. The question isn't whether or not the word "noob" should be censored, it's why are you so lazy that you cannot hit the "Ignore" button?
  10. Quoted for truth. @TeamBloody: I'll just reply to your suggestion in PM, since it would take this thread off-topic, mmkay? As for your latest post... Educating the users about stolen credit cards is kind of like educating them about the RIAA. Taken seriously by day; completely ignored by night. Also, there's no evidence that the stolen credit cards are originally from players (or parents of players); they could be coming from anywhere in the world. Lastly, limiting the number of P2P accounts to 1/card is also a bit harsh, and would almost certainly cut down on Jagex profits much more than the 60,000 that conducted a recent exodus. It also would not guarantee that the accounts are 100% legitimate, etiher.
  11. I'm not too sure if this is going to be such a good thing...I can already see people trying to bum my dragon armor already... I also can't quite put my finger on it, but I really do pray that this gets released sometime late in the year. Bug testing must be thorough, thank you very much.
  12. Look into a program called Wireshark, it's something that I use to diagnose the security of my own wireless router (if I ever had the thought that someone could tap into it). Just make sure to note your own IP address (ipconfig /all), and if you notice anything abnormal that's not coming from or going to your IP, you have a perpetrator. Also, for your own security, there is a way to reduce the likelihood that someone can compromise your bandwidth. Whenever you get into the control panel again (reset the current config and start from scratch), you can disable the SSID broadcasting. Then, add a WEP key. This combination will keep *most* people out of your connection.
  13. Your belief is way off base. I have both a CD drive and a DVD drive in my desktop. I tried the disc in the DVD drive (since it is a DVD), and the drive seemed like it was working, but it wasn't...Then I tried to see if the CD drive might work (weirder things have happened, so I gave it a shot), and nothing...I know for a fact the CD drive works because I had just used it. Also, I can not use my friend's discs because the second one is corrupt. I try to install it, or even copy the file from the disc, and about halfway through, it says there's some redundancy error, and before that it said it couldn't read the file. I'm not going to reformat the drives except as an absolute last resort. While it is an option (well..not reformat, but DBANing, which is a reformat and then some), it's the furthest one down on my list. Never say my only option is to ditch the system if your one suggestion doesn't work..I'm sure many people, including those on this forum, would disagree with you (and some, including myself, may refer to a flogging/bludgeoning for such ignorant behavior). Must've misread your post then, or I didn't necessarily understand that you were using a DVD drive. [specify, specify.] Anyway, if it doesn't work in one drive but it does in another, I doubt that the disk is bad. Could it be that the DVD drive is bad? You claim that the CD drive works, that's fine, but that's not exactly what we're on about here. Second, go easy with the violence there. :-# It's not ignorant, it's honestly last-ditch. I don't go around, telling people to reformat unless they *need* to, and a 30-minute startup threw up a flag. Are you going to attempt to disable the AV startups? If so, let me know how that goes, and see if the machine starts up a little bit faster. Sorry that I touched such a sensitive chord with you when I said "reformat". You took it better than most people I know, though. :P
  14. If you haven't made a suggestion on how they could fix it, then you're not helping your cause. If you haven't quit members, then not only are you full of hot air, you're also proving your immaturity. Besides, there's no cover-up. No one said that the next year of updates were "cover-ups". Those were actually next in queue for the company to put out. Actually, I want to see some suggestions. I haven't seen one good suggestion that could not only accomplish what Jagex set out to do in the first place, but keep you "PKers" happy. Do you happen to have a few links to some? If not, then your point here becomes moot.
  15. I fail to see why your "best computer" couldn't run the new RS. It doesn't say that it needs Windows to run it. It will run on Linux/OSX/Windows as far as i know. Or am i missing something? No, you're right. All you need is a Java Runtime Environment for the machine, and you're pretty much set. That's how I'm running it on Ubuntu right now. :P It's going to be a miracle if that machine lasts another year and a half. Tone it down already so you can enjoy it longer. Sure, super-hyped up specs are one thing, but they don't help you when the processor finally walks off the job. ...Really? So your graphics card is good, right? Because that's what we're really focusing on here.
  16. A simple way, from my point of view, would be to just use a linux distro to do the wiping for you. There are other methods, though.
  17. How could they block Java? If you mean the site, that's probable, but doesn't Windows Vista come with a JRE? Anyway, it does kinda sound like you're trying to play the game on a console rather than a PC, but that's only from first glances. At any rate, there's no way to get RuneScape onto a machine without it running at least Java SE. Sorry.
  18. First question: My belief is that you're trying to read a DVD from a CD drive, and that won't ever work. There's no way to use a DVD drive remotely that I know of, but you could just pull that drive out of your mother's tower (with her consent) and put it into yours. Just keep in mind you'll probably need higher than a 330W power supply to do this. If that doesn't work, my guess is that you should ask your friend for the five CDs, and use the key you paid for. Second question: That machine I believe is hosed. Although, surprisingly enough, it's probably not 100% the virus' fault. You must understand this, and it holds true to computers, too -- too much of a good thing is a bad thing. [Although I'm still on the fence as to whether or not AV is a "good" thing...] Anyway, I've heard good things about NOD32, and you should invest in that ASAP. Before you install it, though, be sure to wipe all the other AVs off. Also, since we're not in the business of moving delicate system files from one (completely different) system to another, my advice to you is to try to disable the startup feature for *most* of those AV/anti-spybot programs. More or less, it's their fault that the system is taking *so* long to start up. Try disabling the AVs first, then look into NOD32. Do not move one system file from one computer to another. That's just asking for trouble. If the AV thing doesn't solve the slow bootup, then your only other option is to treat it like scorched earth, get what you can off of it, and wipe the machine clean.
  19. Something like this happened to me before, on my old laptop, when it was still running XP. Purple screen, could hear sounds fine, and mouse worked okay, but nothing else would respond. My best guess is that something went wrong with the memory. However, it's not a serious error (as the Big Red Button saved my bacon back then too), so what I'd advise you do is to just turn off the computer for an hour so the RAM can "reset". I hold doubts that this was a graphics driver issue. Drivers shouldn't just "stop working" at random. Something didn't load right.
  20. What do you mean, "new dance emotes"? I don't see anything new in that screenshot.
  21. 1) Irritating posting styles is against board rules. This includes all bold. 2) Who genuinely gives a damn if someone else wants to get an e-boyfriend or an e-girlfriend? It's not like they'll listen to your advice if you tell them it's wrong, nor could you really stop them from getting "involved". At least it's reportable...
  22. I don't mean to belittle your efforts or endeavors here, but seriously, what's the point of creating a memorial day for it? If you go around, trumpeting out that kind of information, you're pretty much pouring gasoline on yourself (and your cause), and giving those that do not sympathize with your views a few dozen books of matches. It's not that I don't like the idea of creating a memorial day. I just don't like what it's all about. [Coping? If people can't cope half a year later, they've got issues.]
  23. You were at a low enough HP level to realize you were in mortal danger, and you even had plenty of opportunities to eat beforehand. Now, why are you upset that you died? Well, at any rate, I guess there is *some* compassion to be felt, but at least now you know better.
  24. So, what does "effin" mean in your dialect? Because in English, it's a filter evasion of a bad word. [Who's stupid now?]
  25. I don't see why we'd need separate worlds for this "high detail" thing. In reality, all that's being transferred is the new graphics layer, and even then, it's being used clientside, not serverside. No need to fret or cast any FUD on this issue. Those that *do* lag are the ones that have bare minimum specs.
