  1. My grilled cheese I like to make when I have the time: Garlic bread, "Tuscan Style" butter (basically butter + olive oil, garlic, basil, oregano, rosemary, and thyme), cheddar cheese, crushed oregano, roast beef, and a strip of bacon. Lightly browned in a frying pan on medium heat with a vented lid to let the cheese melt.

How do you check this without actually logging in and resetting it?
  4. Is his case, it's the height when laying down that makes all the difference.

Make it five. Also, I quite like the look of this... thing: http://www.autemo.com/dc/users/1/AT3MO/40/chops/Bugatti_Veyron_1945_by_rc82_workchop.jpg It's a combination of a Volkswagen Bug and a Bugatti Veyron. Very cool.

Many of the early-mid 90's Toyota pickups (Hilux, for those elsewhere in the world) that I see around here have manual transmissions. V6 engine, too.
  7. Already out here in the U.S. I spent quite a bit of time with ones in the store over the last few days and decided that I like it better than the full-size iPad. It's unbelievably light, comfortable to hold with one hand, and the screen doesn't seem too small. Needs a retina screen, though clearly they left that out for this initial release to get people to buy the second version.
  8. Romney has called Obama to concede. Romney should be on the stage within 5 minutes and Obama shortly thereafter.
  9. My 15" Acer monitor has been a royal pain in the rear; several dead pixels, as well as a strange coloration change in one corner. Not saying they're all like that, but that's my experience.

Elaborate? Anything by Tesla, Chevy Volt, Ford Focus or C-MAX. Or did you just want to get into technicalities, such as "most 'American' cars aren't built in America" or "you have to use gas to charge an electric car"? Electricity still counts as fuel tbh. You still have to stop x number of miles to 'fill the tank', and still has an amount of emissions stemming from the creation of the electricity. Yes, but that amount of emissions is less. Or in places like where I live, where we're 100% hydro, essentially nonexistent.

You're silly Europeans for not wanting to sell your fuel efficient cars to the Americans. Just California, as far as I can tell. ...which is calculated on the European cycle, which is anywhere between 20 and 30% higher than the U.S. cycle. Taking that into account puts the Polo squarely in the sights of the Prius, which is a larger car. How about the rapidly growing number of cars that we build that don't use any fuel at all? The hate carries over from the (previously correct) idea that diesel cars are loud and smokey. Just 10 years ago VW was exporting diesel Jettas to the U.S. that make quite a racket (I've heard a few examples over the past couple months). Maybe efficient diesels will catch on here one day, but it's clear that U.S. and Asian manufactures are going the direction of electric cars and it seems the European manufactures have little desire to export their best diesels to the U.S.

None of the VW cars sold in the U.S. get more MPG than a Prius. And you also have to consider that diesel is more expensive than gasoline.

Thanks to AP classes, I didn't have to take any more Math, English, or Science classes when I got to college. Absolutely worth doing well in them, IMO.
  15. And this is an internet forum. If you don't want your opinion to be attacked, then don't post it. It's pretty simple.
  16. Looking good, MPM! Nice to see you pop in again. :)
  17. I tried on some toms, they were a little less than what I wanted and the sole was too skinny. I went to a huge mall and spent at least a few hours going around to all the stores with shoes and trying stuff on... ended up getting these. It'll take some time to get used to walking around in a flat shoe, hopefully they work out. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. :)
  18. I've always managed my photos manually since I tried iPhoto a number of years ago and didn't like it, but I'm going to give it another go when I get a new computer in a couple of weeks. Glad your transfer went well!
  19. I did a clean install on my MacBook about a year ago due to a lack of hard drive space. I had enough space on my external hard drive to do a full Time Machine backup as well as back up all my folders (pictures, applications I wanted, documents, music) individually. I wiped the computer's drive and did a clean install, then copied over files from my manual backup as I needed them. The nice thing about doing a Time Machine back up as well, even if you don't use it, is that it gets every file on your drive, so if you miss something in your manual backup you can manually go into the time machine backup folder and grab that one file you missed. 10.6 should be fine, that's what I'm running and my machine is older than yours. Honestly there's no real need for an Airport Express unless your whole household uses Apple devices. For normal households it would just act as a wireless router.
  20. Looking at shoes... I don't care about style so much, but I have no clue what is out there. I'd like something slip on, should come in a wide size. I'll be in Portland for the next week so I'll be able to go to some stores to try stuff on. Thinking something like one of these: http://shop.vans.com/catalog/Vans/en_US/style/qfdwsh.html?categoryId=10147&colorCode=QFD6HF http://www.landsend.com/pp/mens-suede-moc-slippers~228815_-1.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::TVY&CM_MERCH=IDX_men-_-shoes&origin=index Have also looked at Toms... so I'm totally open to ideas.

That's nice, but I don't necessarily want friends who are only friends because I have a printer, haha. It does seem like a good way to meet new people though! I bought about 3,000 sheets of printer paper for my house [i live with my family, my brother's in middle school, my sister's in highschool] and we ran out completely about 3/4ths of the way into my second semester this year. You will need a printer. Well it depends what your major is tbh. My first two years of college I used <100 sheets of paper (over the whole two years). Maybe even <50. This past year I used about... 5 or 10, but it was all for printing non-uni related things. So yeah, definitely depends on your major. In some cases, it's hardly necessary. If you're doing like an actual English course or any other writing-intensive course, then it's definitely better to buy your own printer. Well I'm done with English classes, and hopefully math and science as well. Not sure how printer-intensive my architecture classes will be, but I'm pretty sure I be writing a number of papers for my history classes.

So many of you are saying to wait to buy textbooks... does/could it ever happen that your professor starts actually using the textbook in class before you have time to order yours and get it shipped? Do professors just not use textbooks for the first two weeks? What do you all think about printers? I have a printer in my dorm run by the on-campus printing business, but many of the students I've spoke to said it's best to have your own.
  23. I second this, or whatever we're up to now haha. Very few cars look nice lowered, especially once the wheels start hiding up behind the fenders.

English, and enough Japanese to stop me from looking like an idiot if I ever go there.
  25. Ahh I've played the paper version of this for hours on a ferry with a bunch of friends, it's so much fun. We ended up with a whole pile of funny ones...
