Ffs, stop with the vista bashing. We may not all like it right away, because it's new and it's different, but eventually, it will eventually supersede xp, and all of you who refused to get used to it will be even more pissed off. On topic: do you really want to be wheeling a desktop pc to your lectures? :wall:

Connecting to the mail server with each and every post regardless of mail settings is a rather stupid way to do it when you can just selectively connect and send mail as required per thread. You can go look in functions_post.php for the user_notification function and look at what the code does. It checks for subscribed users before trying to connect. :P Fair enough. I don't go looking through a site's code though. Don't want to get blamed as a hacker :ohnoes: I think he means in the phpbb source code. There's no way you could see the php code of a site like this; iirc, it'll just say "Hacking attempt" and die.

Sounds like somone forgot to htmlspecialchars their fields before running a query... :-w (Jk. I am probably completely wrong, and this is making me look like an absolute idiot, but, whatever... =P ) Glad it's fixed. \ -
Fairly proficient with windows. I dare you to try and install/use gentoo as your first distro, lol :P Linux is very, very different than windows. I would start out with ubuntu, and if you're not sure, you can run it from a live cd, pay around with features, explore it a bit, and try some other distros. You, as a user, have a lot more control in linux than in windows.

Yeah, I can totally tell you value the opinions of those who know wth they are talking about. I have a solution: Required tool: Step one: Look at the back of your computer. Find the blue eternet cable that looks like this: Step two: Use the wire cutters to snip the aforementioned wire. Congratulations, you are now completely secure! (or are you??? :uhh: )

Do you know the difference between Socialism and Communism?

That's interesting. I had no idea they were two different things; always thought they were the same thing. american that you referred to> -
With all this president talk, is Stephen Colbert seriously going to run for president, or was he speaking in character when he said that?
-
I have to agree with that. It's not that I actually look at those details, but today it was outstanding. Those aren't normal breasts. Tell me about it. Off-Topic: I keep thinking you're Reb. -.- Is it still that confusing switch avatars week or whatnot? Wait...are you talking about the big middle panel? Are those seriously supposed to be breasts!? I thought it was a part of her bookbag  Edit: What I thought was a bookbag, was really just an 'overshirt.' Nevermind then, that is almost scary. Thirdchild, you have to give chris our input that ash's boobs are too big. *Visualizes awkward conversation* :XD:

Wtf? :? As a response to that :D That would be it :P

I can completely relate to that. There were a few months last year when I thought I was gay. It scares the hell out of me to think about it now. *shudders* And with your point, I can see what you mean, but that's why I'm saying that when the parents keep antagonizing her like this, it only motivates her to *god, can't think of any words tonight. something that means 'to make firm, or to strengthen'* her belief that she's like this. Compare it to an argument. In the heat of it, you start to make decisions/choices/say things that you know you will regret later, but you do them anyway, to show that you're serious about it, and you're firm in your stance.
-
Never Goddess!!!! You have your fancy books and stuff I'll probably never know about, but I don't, so I have to resort to crappy argument :-$ True, but I don't exactly know why the parents are disapproving of it. I'm not sure if it's because they've never been exposed to this kind of stuff, religion, or who knows what, but they seem reluctant to give sep a chance, and are so *can't find the right word, something along the lines of confused...* by sep's choices and behavior, they are trying to change sep back to being "normal", which sep doesn't like, and only give her/him/whatever the motivation to defy their parents. Even if the only reason sep is thinking/acting like this because of reading up so much on it (I'm not saying this is true), that still doesn't seem like the right approach to take.

Hey, all I meant was that it seemed a bit drastic to use distressed in that case. I have no idea about any of this psychology stuff, hell, I probably couldn't even spell psychology right if it weren't for this spell check, so I don't even want to go there. I'd say it's beyond uncomfortable when you've forsaken your own parents advice and have already made up your mind about trying to change your sex. That's rather distressful in itself. So, if I had a "mental disorder" that my parents, new nothing about, only that it was against a religion that I didn't believe in anyway, and gave me "advice" that I flat-out wasn't allowed to be myself. Not "well, see if it's just a phase, and if it's not when your a bit older, we'll look into it", but not even bothering to learn about it, or give someone the chance to explain it to them, it is definately in my best interests to listen to them? (Oh, and, I don't want to sound like a [wagon] here, but are you someone's alt, cause you only joined a couple days ago and are already in a good debate, and can actually spell. : ) Has nothin' to do with religion. I'm certainly not a Christian psychologist myself who is just trying to push an agenda, lol. And I had another account here, but forgot the password. New account. :P But I thought the whole reason their parent's rejected them is because of religion? :-s

Well, it's your perogative to call the APA liars and go with your opinion. I've got nothing more to say. I'm not...We can all clearly see by the OP's first post that what they said was not accurate. If someone is willing to be as drastic as to get hormone injections or a sex change, they were clearly distressed about their situation. Distressed really doesn't seem like the right word to use in her case. More like, uncomfortable.

Clare, I think you have sessions and cookies confused. From my understanding, session data is stored in a temporary folder of the server, and then deleted when the session is closed, reset, or destroyed. Basically, when you 'log out', or when you close your browser page. Cookies are like session variables, but are stored on your machine with a set expiry date. But that's how I've always seen it, and I've never used cookies for more than things like "Remember Me" on login pages, or on polls to see if you already voted. (Because of overly overly pranoird people/spware programs like the OP) And in most cases, I just use an if(isset($_COOKIE..., and then set my session variables off of the cookie. Oh, and, randox, as clare said, that's not possible. Cookies are relative to your domain.
