Seconded. Why fletch when you can mine rune ore  . You'll be special if you have a skill like fltech at lvl 1 since so many people have that skill as their highest. Very nice. Unusual skills but very nice nonetheless. -
Agreed about completing quests (although you have to understand these quests take A LONG time to make) Disagreed about less references to popular culture. I think those references are absolutely awesome and they should get MORE, not less, of them. : Have you already forgotten that "We need more cowbells"?

That would be great, unfortunately official in their book means they have control over it, and they don't have complete control over tip.it. (and if they decide to, we gotta hide all garbage in rants forum

Thanks all of you who came to the party  and sorry for those who couldn't make it :( . That was a huge success and I'll post the pictures up in a bit. : HOLY CRAP I ALMOST FORGOT!!!!!! I made it for the 4th of november to celebrate another important event, my 3 year mark of runescape. Yep, 3 years ago I was bored on the internet and stumbled on this game that friends had talked about, I tried it out and here I am  when you get entangled and then tbed, just assume you'll die and drop all pouches (in order of largest to smallest). Then when you get killed, run back and pick them up. I've actually ended up dropping them and miraculously making it into the abyss where I break a home tele, and get back to edgeville asap. Make sure it's largest to smallest, once due to lagg I only was able to drop giant, large and medium however I talked to the dark mage and got the small one back (yes, even when the others were in my inventory). And for everyone who would like tips on how to achieve these massive goals, check out my guide right here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=711498 From this trip in particular I learned how important self-confidence is and how strongly it can impact your goals. I did 99 rc feeling very confident and it now seems like just the other day that I got back from vacation with this goal in mind

Here it is: Sorry I missed most 99 messages :( . the lamp I used had an extra screen to go through and I also forgot to flip back to skills inventory (I show skill inventory when I get a level) Intersting fact: The rc cape message is done in two parts And finally the emote (with a crowd): Again, thank you everyone who came, it was a really good party and much bigger than my last one. And so I am now the 379th person to get to 99 rc : So now for some background: This is it.. 99 rc through the abyss. I'd love to say all through the abyss but unfortunately, I used the law company at times so it's more like 70% through the abyss. Still, that's millions of nature runes made and I'm proud of it. I've been working on this project ever since I got back from summer break and I'm proud to say that I did it! For 10 weeks I crafted over 1 million nature runes to get from 94 to 99 and here it is at last. The levelups during this goal: 95 rc: 96 rc: 97 rc: 98 rc: My quest for the rc cape, week by week: The first step in this project was to get all the ess needed (which was A LOT). I took a shot of my entire screen, just to show you what my setup looked like Then I took a shot each week (with a few missing) so after the second week: after the third week: after the fourth week: after the fifth week: Missing... sorry.. and it's too bad, it's when I was holding over 500k nats too.... ah well. after the sixth week: Notice what starts to appear : after the seventh week: after the eighth week: Ninth is missing and I didn't take a picture of the tenth because it was a shorter week. Throughout the entire project I stayed in edgeville, except for some small errants like changing to ancients for edgeville home teleport. I had to constantly resist the temptation to try out GWD or any of the many updates during my project which was really hard. My quest for a Green phat For so long I have wanted a green phat, it always seemed to escape my grasp. So i decided to go for it now, using the 300m (minus the cost of the ess) to get it. Unfortunately something unforeseen happened. GWD happened and all the partyhats jumped by about 30 mill meaning that I ended up racing to get the partyhats asap. It was so frustrating seeing them draw farther and farther away from me. But despite everything I got... first a purple: then a yellow: and finally the green: Note that ALL of the money there is money that I got from rcing. Even with 1 mill per hour it was hard as hell to get but I succeeded. Well there you have it. I considered it an endurance challenge or a way for me to test my limits and to fulfill goals that I had wanted to achieve for a long time. A lot of people ask me "how do you sit for hours doing something so boring"? Well, my friends, there are some tricks to it and I explain these tricks in the guide that I wrote. You could say that it's thanks to those tips that I am here today to announce this achievement. One of the funniest moments was while selling the nats. I tried boosting the price after the shop update and so I ended up with a bunch of comments along the lines of "Haha, you're stuck with them, I got my nats from an honest runecrafter". :XD: The joke is on THEM because I had crafted all these nats. Extra stuff: Now this is a bit special. I like to randomly kill the imp in edgeville at times, but when I saw this I couldn't believe my eyes  You know you rc too much when you get an entire agility level by walking through the shortcut :XD: Tripsis pulled the same stunt as well a few months ago This happened by accident, but it just shows how my rcing became such a habit. I actually went as far as clicking on the alter and only realized after the message said "you do not have any pure ess to bind into nature runes" Now is probably the most failed attempt at an rc pk ever. Yes I died but I dropped pouches and figured I'd try and drop gory as well. Seems like he took the bait and had already left so I got almost everything back (he took dueling ring i think). I've been pked a lot during this project, but I've never had to replace pouches and this is the only time that the trick with dropping the glory actually worked. Closing words There are loads of people to thank. First of all, everyone at gof. They were all there to support me.... such an amazingly awesome clan! second, people at supreme skillers. Such a warm welcome, and several of them have supported me by watching my progress The 2 Oracle, a great friend of mine and an amazing skiller. He showed me that it was possible to get the rc cape via the abyss and his collection of 99 is very impressive. Elemelement, Gahaha, Hazezor, Caim 01 and apcrump for all rcing along side of me. You guys all rule! Arvid aka R weed aka weedy. This guy went after countless abyssal pkers during the trip. He is awesome for defending rcers. Way to go! Smartik1, for giving me tones of furs for capes. You wouldn't believe how many of those capes get taken by pkers! and for helping me kill kbd (which lead to me getting the head of the kbd!!!) Aquriez, for nominating me in AotM : To everyone who wants to come to the party! Thankyou, let's make it a huge success and all the countless people that were watching my progress this whole time, I'm really touched to see that people care : I will keep going farther and farther with my goals. Reaching new 99s and such. Right now, my goal is to do dag kings and godwars dungeon until I have enough money to get the 3rd age mage; the final part of my dream outfit! I also want some higher range/mage/prayer/hp and all for the sake of more monster hunting. It's gonna be fun 8-)

wow, jackpot! -
Well done, 100m exp is a neat milestone! : go for all skills 70+ now?

Ever since the first achievement diary I've come to realize the magnitude of Jagex's projects. So it could very well be that they have been working on summoning skill since 2004. I'd say it's entirely possible, especially when you look at all the things on that list that have already come out successfully but when? nobody can tell. It's like waiting for anime fillers to end, you know it will happen eventually you just have no idea if it's weeks or months.
-
Considering how few people trade on fansites, I think that is irrelevant to your point, your other points may be valid but not this recent great exchange one. How about just having a little faith that jagex did the update to make our life easier and not part of some master plan?

Effects Of The Coming Update "Great Exchange" On The Economy
Solidus_77 replied to klankaos's topic in General Discussion
The service that merchants provide is that of convenience. They buys good quickly and sell them quickly so you don't have to wait around, but some of your money goes to the merchant. First of all, it's so incredibly stupid to call merchants scammers because they are actually helping you, and second of all you may notice that this is the EXACT same service that the varrock trading thing offers, in fact it does it almsot even better than merchants. How could the trade not have an effect on merchants when it's virtually replacing their job? The severity of the effect will be determined by how popular the trading thing is. The only exception I see (and this is a HUGE exception) is if they play an active role in the varrock trading system. This is something that could very will happen (and this means that we could get our goods almost instantaneously  ). I'm only evaluating the theory because I very little practical experience but this exception could very well happen and it is perfectly possible that merchants adapt to this new job. -
This update will replace the role of some merchants, it will have an effect but probably not destroy them. It all depends on how widely it's used.
-
Do you really thing this is a new discovery that is going to lead to any discussion
-
Wow, this is likely to change the game as we know it. However, merchants might be in danger of extinction

First off, you're welcome, goldhawk : Now, I understand the thinking. You don't believe that people would be able to "find" the price of the nats. However, and this is one of the fascinating things about economics, what will happen is exactly that! At first the price may be significantly off, but little by little the price will go up or down until it has reached a point where all the nats sold are bought. This is known as the point of equilibrium. This means that if nobody knew what prices of nats were, they COULD start selling nats at 374 each but then the "invisible hand" will kick in. The "invisible hand", is an economic concept. It refers to the forces (of supply and demand) that re-ajust price to meet at a point where the quantity sold is bought by consumers, thus the point of equilibrium. Therefore, if nats start off at 374, forces of supply and demand (or "the invisible hand") will re-ajust the price to 300 each because we know that the equilibrium price of nature runes is 300 each. To see this effect in motion, it's a bit hard to visualize everyone suddenly "forgetting" the price so I've got an alternative that leads to the same effects: The introduction of a new item. When a new item is introduced into the game, the price is out of control. Not only is it typically very high but also the price varies considerably (Note that the price is way over the price of general store, thus the general store is irrelevant in this case). The only guidance that seller have is "how high are buyers willing to go for this item?". You'll notice that, over time, the price of these items will begin to stabilize. This is exactly what I am referring to as the "invisible hand" because the price is re-adjusted until it becomes the equilibrium price. This is why, without any early knowledge, people will find the equilibrium price. Fascinating isn't it? Economics is able to predict people's behavior. ok, now you are correct in saying that real life doesn't quite work that way, however you need to understand what purpose the shops serve in runescape. They serve what would be considered a "price control". In real life, a price control is set by the government who ends up buying up the excess supply (at a huge cost to society). Now, runescape doesn't function that way so the reasons and policies are totally different, however the effect on the particular market for a good is similar. It acts as a price "ceiling" or maximum price that people can charge (well, people can charge higher but it's pretty pointless). So in that reguard, it doesn't matter in what form the shops are, they act as a maximum price and runescape remains a market economy (which has, none-the-less, a very special "government" :D ) Price manipulation is against the rules (for rares at least).

Solidus_77 replied to Solidus_77's topic in General Guides
Good! Keeping a small amount of feathers in your inventory sounds like an excellent way to set "checkpoints". Good luck -
For construction, if you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it. :XD: Nah jk, it's really not that bad. I'm sure some people have come up with a free but horrendously slow method so the cost could be very small if you really want it to

Thanks, unfortunately you have to be in the US for it to work. Oh well, I'm sure it will help some people -
Rc pkers are pkers, but totally different attitude towards player killing. They would rather fight against someone they know is unarmed in the hopes of getting a small profit, however some will do it just for fun. These are the people who turn on melee pray when faced with an opponent armed with a pickaxe, or who get really mad when I successfully recover my pouches. Does that make them pathetic? that's up to you. I am merely exposing a fact. In the category of "motives" there at two types of pkers. Those who do it because they want what they call "easy glories", or basically money. Fairly straight forward, I mean who here doesn't want to make cash? I don't have a problem with these guys except when they vanish without a trace, leaving me incapable of buying my stuff back (Why they get turned on by spotted capes will always be a mystery to me, but that is an item that I almost NEVER get back from them) Then there are those who do it for fun. Basically, they don't care about the glory, they just want the rcer to lose his/her pouches and get pissed off. Quite honestly I don't like how someone can be so full of hate, are they annoyed at losing kills while pking? Are they jealous of rcers rich and prosperous life? or are they just plain emo. God knows, but I really don't care about their attitude because if I get annoyed at them, I am just giving them what they want. They are also there to "try" as best they can, to make sure I don't recover my pouches (which never seems to work, in which case they get mad). These guys are impossible to negociate with for buying items back because their sole purpose is to annoy me as much as possible. Are they just like other pkers? No. Are they "scum" "low life"? That's your opinion.

Considering the time frame, that's very impressive. Well done. : -
Gotta go with slayer tasks. You can train combat and slayer that way and get good drops
-
And because nowhere near enough dragonhides come into the market for alot of people to get 99. No, if there as a shortage the price would have increased.
