Lol, i do this maybe once a month.. just picking parts for fun. I'll add my own system in an hour or two (commercial-break on a Jackie Chan movie i'm watching atm, think it's "the medallion"). Intel comes with some new CPU's in a couple of months (the high-end ones, "mainstreams" come not until next year sometime).. So i'll skip choosing them and pick one of the Extreme ones. Is it ok to pick the new ATI 4870x2 which is released on tuesday next week? Otherwise i'll pick the Gtx 280's... I'll try a pretty extreme machine lol. Fun thread, good initiative!

Not our neighbour, but the house after it. A swedish footballer (if i don't remember wrong, Josefin Öqvist), she plays in one of the 3 top teams in the womans elite football (soccer to americans) leauge. Also plays with the swedish national football team. She used to live here with her family until things started to going good for her, she moved away to somewhere (i guess in the same city as she plays football, don't remember the team she plays at tho). Otherwise, i know the keyboard player in a swedish band called Evergrey comes from my town too.

Hm, yesterday was a recovery-day (was partying (drunk) with friends until 04.30 when i went home... Nice headache when i woke up!). Today, not much. Been playing some games... Watching tv and looking for jobs. And i found a nice job. A specilized computer-chain in Sweden, called "Alina Systems", they are looking for a part-time hardware repairer/fault-searcher, in my town! So i'm gonna finish my application and mail it in. Would be awesome to get that job... Otherwise not much, watching Sky News and cooking 3 eggs to eat in about 6 minutes. Nadril @ How's your fingers? If i were to be banned. I would not make a new account, because it would too boring. And i've already experienced the best period in RS, which was RSC. Atm, i'm not playing more than maybe 3-5h a week. I'm really bored at grinding, and crappy slayer tasks all the time that needs to be nerfed.

It looks nice and works nice, but the steering sucks. I tried different settings and really tried to steer... But i just keep sliding... So i gave it up. You can't push the steering much or i'll just slam right into the wall. I give it 5/10, mainly because the sucky steering. And i've played motor-games for over 10 years... So i'm not a noob on it lol.

Never understood it, never will. I have seen and read some stuff... But i never got the point. I'd rather read a Donald-Duck magazine than anime/manga. A friend orderd a box with a couple of "action toys" and some magazines in spirit of this game "Dofus", which was magazines in anime/manga... whatever, for 50$... I couldn't understand why you spend that money on it all. All i do is i spend 30 euros a year on 10/11 magazines from Sweden Rock Magazine (swedish heavy metal magazine).

Only way to check is by taking a look at the psu itself. The problem with prebuilts is that they usually chuck in a generic power supply that just covers the specs for the computer. I wouldn't bother upgrading unless psu is upgraded as well, because a dedicated graphcs card will take a lot more power than an integrated chipset. Download Pc Wizard and run that. Should show what type of motherboard you have, which would show if you have the right pcie slots for the graphics card in the first place. Or you can look at the recipe/note also, it should be there too.

Eggz coverd it well. ATI's 3xxx series was/is really good too in performance/money. The most price-worthy now is anything from ATI's 4xxx series if you're looking onto having serious quality-gaming. Otherwise you can choose a slower ATI/Nvidia card if you don't need extremely much performance. They both are good companies. Say a budget and a couple of games you like to play, and i'll give you a couple of options on both ATI/Nvidia cards. A DX10/.1 card will run fine with DX9.

I'm too lazy to boot up the Vista machine. On XP: Start - control panel - user accounts - "XXX".. admin - change name... "The fish rocks!". Should be similar on Vista or if you're using an older system.

What the hell, i have no clue about half the people leaving tif or stepping down from mod-spot. What? 4870 should be cheaper than gtx 260. In my country, currently (on a well known store, komplett.se) the cheapest 4870 is at 215 euros and the cheapest gtx 260 is at 260 euros. Please give me the link to where you are buying these parts.

Ah ok, i understand. I know that both ATI and Nvidia are working on the next cards. But no date is known, so if you're thinking of 6-12months, more information about the new gpu's will probably be known. Or the 280's will be even cheaper! =) Have fun and give the quad-core to me for replying three times lol.

They shot up in price over night last night :| check newegg. I do plan on running SLI in the long run. I prefer the 280's over ATI. The way the 280's work when they are not being used by video games and such is what attracts me. I'm not from the U.S, so i don't check newegg much. Where i live, gtx 280 was introduced at 480 - 620 euros. The cheapest i found now was at 360 euros, so they've dropped much as you see. Well, i suppose if you have the money and think it's worth putting so much cash into it, go for it. I guess, if you buy a 280 in a month or something, and then buy one at x-mas or something, they won't be as expensive as now. I'm buying an ATI 4850 this month (with a new computer), will be enough for me hehe. Good luck.

Why 1000w PSU? Have you something extra planned for it? GTX 260 and 280 have already dropped in price, they won't drop much further in price. The motherboard, have you planned on running SLI? To be honest, i would not invest in it. Especially if you plan on buying a 280. I would buy a 4870x2, will be cheaper than two 280's. Otherwise it looks nice. Your 7900gs will run two screens if it has two outputs and supports the monitor-resolution.

Vista 64 is fine with drivers, don't spread false information. @OP: you really need a better PSU, 340W is not going to cut it. Also I would do the HD4870 instead of GTX260. UPS - 340W PSU - 750W =)

Good build. The PSU i guess is because the 260 requires alot of power. I don't know if they've launched the gpu named GT200b yet, but it is 55nm instead of 65nm, and runs cooler and greatly increases overclocking. I'm not a "fan-guy"... But i would have chosen 4850 or 4870. They are cheaper, 4850 is not much slower than 260 and sometimes even beats it. 4870 is faster than 260 and sometimes beats the 280. I really wonder if you'll use all the power from such a card, do you play in really high-res with highest settings? E8500 is really sweet, and got a big room for overclocking. I guess this is a pure gaming computer, since you've chosen an ssd disc and just 64gb. Have fun =) OS vs OS threads... They all have their pros and cons, whether it's OSX... Linux or Windows. And such always tends to end in people flaming lol.

Bunny ears is my most used item lol. I change hair-colour and and clothes in RS maybe 1-3times a month lol.

Even works awesome in the winter.
