  1. ...You know that free trade is going to SOLVE most problems we have with manipulation, right? Manipulation is caused by the GE price limits making it so damn easy and profitable- now that a manipulated item won't take several days to lose its false GE price and become normally tradable again, there's little incentive to operate a merch clan. Now, instead we will see a group of "manipulators" set up shop at a specific item's spot and all collectively spam "SELLING X ITEM FOR Y GP MORE THAN EVERYONE ELSE." They'll drown out all the competition through numbers, and the competition will quickly sell their items because it will be cheaper and so soon everyone will have to pay the manipulators' prices. It's not viable long-term because they can't stay on all the time to keep the prices at what they spam, but it is a hell of a way to profit short-term.
  2. But that's my point. It wouldn't really be a problem, because to get a fully-outfitted setup of the best gear, you'd need to shell out over a hundred bucks (or several hundred, if you wanted spirit shields or Torva), even if Jagex set the bar as low as $1USD per mil. Other than the people who use their parents' cards without permission, I don't see many people being able to convince their parents to shell out over a hundred bucks for RSGP.
  3. I would like to buy an Ely if I had the resources, but I've never had over 200m cash. So I'll probably just enjoy being able to buy stuff when I want it and not having to suffer through "buy-out" phases where resources are impossibru to buy (like potions and food are right now <_<) . FWIW, I am half-expecting Jagex to start selling their own gold when they re-release Free Trade and PKing in order to combat RWT. While I strongly disagree with this concept and believe it completely poisons an MMO's community, it's important to realize that even if Jagex set the bar as pathetically low as $1/M, it would still take hundreds of dollars to acquire any of the top-end items, especially accounting for the inflation that doing something like this would bring. So this really wouldn't result in "rwt products" aka noobs who are rich because they bought all their elite items from Jagex. And yes, I know they said they would NEVER start selling their own gold, but they also said they would NEVER bring back Free Trade/PKing. Jagex's words have no veracity to me anymore.
  4. Re: Zammy solo, yeah, but it's a really easy and pretty fun way to spend a greater demon task now that they updated Kril to count as one . The killcount is super fast and it's never crowded. As for the soloing thing, people already do this, but the issue is that your group is crashable by one guy if you're not lootsharing. I don't see much changing on that front, because you'd still need at least one maxed out player with good gear to stand a chance against crashers. I'm hoping that the "trust" issue will keep EVERY non-LS world from becoming super-crowded like the LS worlds. Hopefully, dumb as they are, the RSOF teams (which comprise most of the teams at GWD) have enough sense not to trust each other to be truthful about drops.
  5. Ironically, Pernix is probably more in-demand than Torva. There's only really one place where Torva would be worth its cost to use and that's solo Bandos, but Pernix would help immensely at Kree'Arra, Corp, and Nex. Everywhere else, Torva is just overkill since with plain ol' Bandos you can still stay at any of the other GWD bosses in a duo/trio for as long as you have familiars/pray pots. Healing really isn't an issue. Torva would also be really good for Sara and Zammy solos with divine (you use melee armor and mage prayer for both of them). But yeah, as far as mainstream boss strategies, Pernix is a lot more useful than Torva. Zammy solo is a wonderful waste of resources, since the best drop is a paltry ~15m. Sara Solo is viable, though. I also thought I'd mention that in the case of GWD solos, you'd best do it NOW if you want to because after Free Trade comes out the non-LS worlds will likely be as packed as the LS ones. Trusted friends will start camping the non-LS worlds and just splitting the GP after they sell the items, as was done before LS existed.

  7. Except it's not a bot. All it does is streamline efficiency with item switching by using specifically programmed hotkeys, something every other MMO in existence has and something Jagex SHOULD have added ages ago. You still have to be playing, you still have to have the skills, you still have to kill the demons yourself. And FWIW, that spot is great but you have to know what you're doing to use it properly. There are several demons around that area and you can usually safe-spot them pretty easily. If the spawns get messed up and you do get two on you at once, there's an easy fix to it. Wait til one gets on melee and then pray against the attack the other one is using. With OVL + Turm + Chaotics, you will drop it pretty quickly.
  8. TDs. Crashers aren't USUALLY an issue, although they can easily kill you. TDs are more fun that other bosses because they actually require a little real life skill to be good at. TDs are also much quicker to get to than other bosses-- just bank in Lumby and it's about three minutes to your spot. Also, including effigies, TDs are more GP/hr than any GWD boss except Yak-Solo bandos, and to top it off, they are a great secondary source of charms.
  9. instantly. "arrghh?! i killd him n he droped oly rune?! whs my curupt draon!" the anoying thing is, people will say stuff like this. F2P pking will actually become less rewarding, since you usually got most of the items your opponent was wearing anyway, in addition to the chance of corrupt dragon. P2P, however, will become vastly more rewarding. No more killing someone in full ahrims + a whip and getting a seren statuette and a bunch of taters.
  10. I doubt it. That would make Elysian too powerful, since it's only 5% less than Divine but without the prayer penalty.
  11. Sure, there is spyware and keyloggers and things like that, but from interacting with a lot of people whose computers were FUBAR'd, it seems to be like the most common viruses are just meant to cause the user major inconvenience. They go in and alter registry files, corrupt files resulting in blue screens, demand most of your system's resources significantly bogging down your performance, or there's the infamous "Fake Antivirus" virus that is almost a form of phishing in that it gives a pop-up saying you are infected and asks you to click the pop-up to install free antivirus software to remove it; if you click anywhere in the window it automatically starts installing the virus.
  12. Well yes, humans are inherently selfish, which is why I can partially understand exchanging the items for junk. But dropping it all afterwards? They're just out of touch with reality. Well, if you hacked someones account and it had a lot of nice goodies on it. Then, trading all your junk for all his good stuff would benefit you. Then, you know you are not going to get to keep the account, and you don't really care what happens to it. So your evil side takes over, so you take all the junk you traded to this account and drop it so the original owner has to make it all back if he ever gets his account back. That just seems like the progression of what could have happened to me. Most of the time when people get hacked, the hacker puts everything tradeable in the Party Chest and destroys all the non-tradable items. Often, the only things people have left when they get hacked are stacks of untradeables like extreme potions, usually because it requires too much effort to drop hundreds/thousands of potions 28 items at a time. Unfortunately, the free trade update will give people a real reason to try to hack other players: you can actually get their items.
  13. Sad. Looks like someone got hacked and bought someone else's junk, then they just dumped the junk when they were done. Seriously, how are people so heartless? For some reason, it just bothered me to see this. Someone went out of their way to make someone else miserable. For teh lulz. It's the same reason people create computer viruses-- they themselves get no benefit out of it and they don't see or know the victims, but they do it all the same just to make someone's life miserable. It's the same reason PKers go out of their way to kill people who are only carrying a spade and a clue scroll... Humans have more inherent maliciousness in them in them than goodness.
  14. The poll was nothing more than PR insurance. When Jagex releases this and it turns into a giant cluster**** and people rant, Jagex can fall back on "Over 1.2m players said they wanted this, so deal with it."
  15. Looks like a manipulator got hacked. Good riddance
  16. Does it matter if you win or lose?
  17. I am already 300 rank, but I wanted enough points for a second fremmy ring imbue. How long would it take to get that, starting at no points?
  18. No. Then you'd have RWTers selling chaotics to people with 80+ dung by just letting you kill them and loot it.
  19. Make a .gif? Also to the above poster, yeah I was in TD gear.
  20. Comparing barrows to Ancient armor is a little inaccurate. Ancient armor is 10x what barrows costs to repair. Nevertheless, I suppose if you have 600m to buy a full set, then paying 6m for repairs is nothing to you.
  21. Interesting point. V helm, k top, v skirt setup becomes Torva helm, pernix body, torva legs. You may be right. Exactly, which is why atm a pernix body is near impossible to get. I tried trading my torva plate for a pernix body and the owner wanted torva pl8 + cash for it. Pernix street price is a good bit more than torva's atm aside from the cowl That is true, went to bandos gwd today and forgot a zammy item but my helmet protected me  Holy [cabbage].
  22. It is also worth noting that, as per RS wiki, the full set requires a base amount of 6 million coins to repair (or 3m with 99 smithing). That is a pretty huge opportunity cost for using a full set of this armor (particularly in multi-combat areas, since it degrades much faster), especially when the full set already costs 500m+ Then again, that is the RS wiki and it does claim that wearing any of the new Zarosian items will make all factions unaggressive. I somehow doubt that.
