  1. For people who have divines, yeah. But most people don't HAVE divines. And I team bosses because it's more something I do to relax at night (when there are fewer crashers and I don't have "Mom" hovering over me [bleep]ing because I've been on the computer for four hours straight). With all the crap that exists now (ext/ovl/turm/chaotics/unicorns, etc), GWD is a joke and I only really need to dedicate half my attention to it. And yes, Nex will SUCK really badly for the first month or so after its release. Then, hopefully, if it is as strong or stronger than the CB most of the "gotta-do-it-nows" will crawl back to their holes and leave the pros to do Nex. Crashing has never really been much of an issue at CB (at least, nowhere near as bad as GWD) because you can't "farm" the Corp like other bosses due to its HP and damage output. If Nex is on-par with that in terms of difficulty, I think we'll see a similar situation where a lot of people will stop going after a few weeks when the novelty wears off and just the die-hards will remain... That's especially true if the KC process is as tedious or worse than Kree'Arra's.
  2. You don't know what you're missing. Schedules, [wagon]s, dry streaks, elitists, etc... Cool generalization bro  Nah, it's pretty accurate. And I say that as a monster hunter. It's a good money-making method, but it comes with a lot of headaches. Finding a three or four hour block of uninterrupted time to MH when you have to juggle school and other responsibilities (especially when you still live at home and have to deal with Mom's demands) is often difficult (and the main reason I don't play WoW), you encounter a LOT of elitist [wagon] both when trying to find teams and when getting crashed, and the dry streaks can be really demoralizing.
  3. Wat. Who are you?
  4. I remember trying it and not doing it until weeks later, same with legends which I eventually did in mid 2003 (I think it was mid 2003). Worst thing about classic was quest release days.. talking to npcs, or getting quest items.. eg dwarf remains on dwarf cannon release = hell. Yeah the one-person-talking-to-an-NPC-at-a-time was a huge headache. I remember when dyed capes were released and there were lines of people spam clicking Aggie to try to get dyes and colored capes were selling for quite a bit. Also, people were trading party hats for rune pickaxes when they first came out because it was so difficult to buy one from the shopkeeper.
  5. Nex is too bad-ass to need minions ;)
  6. I think the boss is androgynous. The BTS uses the gender-neutral "it" to refer to Nex. Also, to me the voice sounds very similar to the Angel of Death in Hellboy 2  Not that that has any correlation to RS, just an observation.
  7. That Latin phrase is associated with "memento mori" which is a genre of art meant to remind people of their mortality. It translates as "remember you will die." Vita brevis breviter in brevi finietur, Mors venit velociter quae neminem veretur, Omnia mors perimit et nulli miseretur. Ad mortem festinamus peccare desistamus. Life is short, and shortly it will end; Death comes quickly and respects no one, Death destroys everything and takes pity on no one. To death we are hastening, let us refrain from sinning. Ni conversus fueris et sicut puer factus Et vitam mutaveris in meliores actus, Intrare non poteris regnum Dei beatus. Ad mortem festinamus peccare desistamus. If you do not turn back and become like a child, And change your life for the better, You will not be able to enter, blessed, the Kingdom of God. To death we are hastening, let us refrain from sinning.
  8. I wish I could join OTG, but they have stupid requirements like 96 summoning and 95 herblore. Yaks are a personal benefit in that you can bank drops; ponies are as good or better most of the time. And you can make OVL at 92 herb easily.
  9. Know what would be a good theme for Nex? Ghost Love Score.
  10. I'm not even going to try for the first couple weeks. It's going to be crowded beyond belief, and that's just not fun for me.
  11. All this x1000. I can only hope that with their intention to balance out the huge hits in PvP, they make the drops relatively common. But yes, it's going to be anarchy for a long while there. Judging from the pictures, it looks like half the time he'll be on the ground and the other half he'll be flying.
  12. I think that's overthinking it. Latin at some point recently became "ominous and dark," so it is fitting that things associated with Zaros use Latin. The Zarosian Hymnal had Latin incantations, too. See here, here, and here.
  13. Not really, if you corp enough you will have formed teams weeks ago ready for this boss ;) plus there are monster hunting clans out there that are ready for it All the more reason this is going to suck for the average high level scaper. All the elitist MHing clans like OTG will monopolize every single world so going with a team of friends is going to be nigh impossible for a long time. <_<
  14. I seriously doubt that, maybe something can crawl up out of them (very unlikely), but pushing players down wouldnt make sense it'd be instant death :P THIS... IS... ZAROS!!! *kicks* It looks as though the boss has at least two different "attack forms," one where it is flying and one where it is on the ground. Therefore, I can assume that it will be invulnerable to melee for at least part of the fight.
  15. I remember doing the Underground Pass the day it came out, before the era of multiple fansites racing to see who puts up their quest guide first. It took a long ass time, especially because I had to leave and return multiple times due to running out of food. The large spike pit half-way through where you had the option to pick a lock to bypass it was especially difficult. Lots of fun, though. Quite a memorable experience.
  16. Wait, why again are GS better than a whip at TDs?
  17. Whoops. Knew it started with an 'S' lol. Yeah, it's almost 2 am and my brain is misfiring.
  18. Oh, I see. Wow. Glad I got 92 herb on my 15k spec restores when I did, then  Do OVLs still save Torstols?
  19. Use a ROL, always use a ROL. If you step out without prayer, chances are that if all nine lobs are alive you will go from max HP to critical before you can react. Because lobs hit every 1.8 seconds and because you'd have nine of the [bleep]ers on you and they are pretty inaccurate, there is a good chance your ROL would save you. Also, use burstinglobs CC to get in and also have it in mind in case you need a bless. If you beg and say that you lost a lot, chances are someone will hop to bless you. Anyway: *these items I'll explain later Battle robes > Ahrims* > Mystic God Cape > SW cape* Fury=Arcane Surge Necklace* SOL > Ancient Staff Mage book > Arcane Spirit Shield* > Zammy book > Tome of Frost* Ring of Life Infinity Boots > Mystic Boots Barrow Gloves In inv: Proslyte Plate Proslyte Legs God Mitre (highest prayer bonus in the game) SW cape God Stole if you want, just more items to switch every lure Runes for Blood Barrage + Ice Barrage EEE (I carry it just because) Holy Wrench (I carry it because I rarely ever complete a full trip's worth of pray pots) Pray pots Teletab *Ahrims: If you wear Ahrims instead of Battle Robes, just wear the Mitre as a permanent headgear. It has a decent magic bonus. *I recommend that you bring both the God Cape and the SW cape, although it's up to you depending on how much switching you want to do. *Magic damage boost only applies to one monster, so while the ASN would be useful in finishing off that last pesky lobster, it's somewhat unnecessary. If you do bring the ASN, I recommend you bring a stole for luring. I personally just use a Fury, since it provides extra magic defense while luring and that helps protect me from the Wallisakis. *Tome of Frost's rune-saving ability is deceptive. The 43k tokens it costs could be used for 4.3m GP in chaotic item repairs, so it's up to you if you think you'll consume more than 4.3m gp in water runes. Otherwise, I'd recommend you use a Mage's Book or Zamorak Book. I recommend a Mage's Book over an Arcane SS because it's not worth spending that much GP on a marginal magic attack boost, and the Arcane is crashing hard so you'll end up losing millions by the time you resell it, where as you will probably still lose a little on the Mage Book but not NEARLY as much.
  20. And what changed about that? FWIW, spec restore pots used to be cost-efficient because the super energies (which were saved) were at one point quite a bit more than the avantoes.
  21. You're that terrified of other players? I'd love to see how you'd react if you ran into a black guy in a dark alley somewhere  Nice racial stereotype.
  22. Seriously it's way easier to say which Weren't affected. But to answer your question, it's not all but some: Extreme attack strength defence ranging magic, Prayer potion, magic potion, energy potion, restore special, super antidote, antidote. Seriously, major fail there jagex. Wait, what? What did they do?
  23. Removing protect item will cause HUGE backlash, though. A lot of people want to be able to use their spirit shields and godswords and chaotics and claws. I have a mixed opinion on doing that. On one hand, it'd greatly go towards re-balancing PvP, as you would rarely ever run into the overpowered crap (divine/claws/AGS/chaotic) that exists if protect item were disabled while skulled, so all these "spec products" would go away and the wild would be much closer to its pre-GWD glory days before everyone did 2/3 of a maxed player's HP in a single hit. On the other hand, this would absolutely destroy the price on many items, and I don't really want to lose that kind of money. :| I think Nuke's idea is awesome, though, and it saves Jagex a LOT of work. "You can only be attacked by other players in the Wilderness if you are skulled." Keep Revenants in the Wild, but make them neutral to you if you are skulled so that you don't have PKers who worry about dealing with other PKers and revs. As Nuke mentioned, allow skulling by attacking a skulled player, using the Abyss, or talking to a new NPC in edge bank who automatically "skulls" you. This way, the wanna-be PKers can't kill clue hunters and/or skillers, but they can still RC PK and there is still some danger to skillers in the Wild because of revenants. Perhaps they could also make revenants more common to compensate for the PKers who whine that the Wild was meant to be dangerous for skillers. As far as untradeables go, they should be valued in tiers, with tier 1 consisting of chaotics, fire capes, PvP armor/weapons, and imbued fremmenik/onyx rings and giving the greatest "potential" to get PvP items. Tier 2 would be BA items like torsos and fighter hats, dstone (i) ring, along with the SW cape and barrow/drag gloves, and this tier would give moderate potential. Tier 3 would be dragon/rune defenders, skill capes, rune gloves, dwarven helm, and painted rune shields/helms and this tier would give small potential. Tier 4 would consist of Achievement Diary items and lesser imbued rings and RFD gloves, along with lesser defenders and other miscellaneous quest items and would give negligible potential. A system like this has to be set up if they're going to reward people for untradeables, because if they just gave people chance to get PvP items because people wore untradables, as somebody mentioned people would just farm kills in achievement diary gear.
  24. Knowing Jagex, that's probably how people will get Statius and Vesta and such stuff when the update takes effect. That would actually be something I think I could agree with. Me too. It's a good way to solve the loot-related issues caused by people who PK in mostly untradeables.
  25. Why lol, then just rollback to the golden age 05-06 and not implement chaotic / gs / [cabbage] into our wild PKers comprise a very small portion of the overall player-base. I don't know why you expect Jagex to update the game around you.
