  1. I'm giving this a bump because of today's updates. Could everyone PLEASE craft 1k essence of whatever rune of your choice (preferably nature rune for members, air rune for f2p) Then post here your level, and the number of runes you crafted. 1k essence is enough to get a VERY accurate number of the actual proportion of extras. It'll take 20-30 minutes of your time, but will the community out tremendously.
  2. I understood pointers, until one day I was passed a pointer to a pointer. Talk about a headache.
  3. 74 runecrafting. Crafted 1k ess into 4567 waters 2287 crafted first 500 2280 crafted second 500 74 runecrafting. Crafted 1k ess into 7462 airs 3732 crafted first 500 3730 crafted second 500 BTW- can everyone else post their data? It seems I'm the only one doing this.
  4. The difference between a true player and a bot is that a botter will eventually do something stupid to get itself banned - the interface will change, and they won't change their code, or jagex will subtly change something like they do every month, and the bot won't be able to handle it. Also, the big thing about bots is they don't talk to other people- most scapers will be social when they grind, respond to others. Bots don't have "intelligent" conversations, this is somewhere that kiddy scripters will never be able to fully implement, and if they do, 'gratz - they'll have solved the whole AI thing.
  5. Sounds like this makes it very cheap to operate a single world. Haven't they identified the server locations on the non-themed worlds? Are there really just 25 of these? Seems like they've nearly got one for each state, and one for several countries. I wonder if there are other ways they can prevent bottleneck... this also gets back to the major interwebz backbones increasing their bandwidth.
  6. I'm interested in hearing what everyone is up to. At work right now, I'm programming an xlet (java applet for bluray players and tru2way cable box) to test features of a cable box. For my robotics team, I'm helping to program logic to make mecanum wheels work with a gyro (do a search for airtrax, its some of the weirdest stuff ever). At home, I'm starting to look for a new project, I might do something that interprets text on screen. What are you up to?
  7. Contradictory. If its so useless why are players buying it? And the point of it was it shows Jagexs stance on items such as dmed being available for P2P in the first place. Pretty much a.....TRIAL version. I don't know why they're buying it, but THEY ARE BUYING IT. The fact that I would never sink 100k+ into something that is only guaranteed to last 30 minutes is different from the fact that F2Pers are spending HUGE amounts of GP for relatively SMALL bonuses. You tell me that F2Pers wouldn't be able to afford the Dmed at 600k each, but they're willing to part with 3.5 M to use a Corrupt Dragon Battle Axe for 30 minutes. And you're making the huge assumption that F2P is not swimming in money. I can point to many items that cost more than 1m on the GE that are traded: all corrupt items, all god / trimmed armours. Getting 1m cash in runescape isn't very difficult, all you have to do is grind a skill for a day or two. Please Dont assume Im interested in anything about you. Im interested in the topic. I would suggest you take on board that in life people will disagree with you and your motives, and occasionally tell you things such as I disagree or No so stop mistaking it for attacks. If you want posters to take you more seriously then don't profess to be a fountain of knowledge then get upset when people disagree. If you scroll up and actually read the rest of the thread, you'll see that was a sarcastic response to what DemonicSushi said - "Sees all, how the [bleep] would you even know wether or not KBD is an active P2P boss if you are an f2p?" I'm pretty sure most people here would consider that as an attack, and would call it trolling. Thats a pretty easy statement to make as you are retired from the game so it doesnt affect you personally. Jr, that's a stupid thing to say, espescially after making such a big deal about how you're not interested in anything here except the topic. How about we stick to debating the topic at hand, instead of trying to discredit others points and opinions. It might still be in use as welfare gear for some, but the current price demonstrates how much demand there is for the dmed. And the fact is that most people prefer to alch it rather than use it. If that wasn't the case, then the dmed would be worth more than 61k. If the dmed alched for 30k, I'd expect it be 30k or less.
  8. How about mods give negative reputation when they have to take action against a user... they lock a thread, or delete or censor the contents a post? That wouldn't be more work than what's already being done, and then positive and neutral reputation is left to the common users of the forum.
  9. I don't understand how you can say that the rune full helmet is "superior" to the D med.... you should check the stats. The D med gives better defence to both melee and ranged. 70K is merely 10K higher than alching price... not much added value there. The D med's low price is not because of how rare it is, its because there are much better alternatives to it. If the D med was the best f2p could buy, the price would skyrocket. Supply would not be able to keep up with demand. The 300k-600k figure is how much they'd be in the long run, partly because people would know that after 30 minutes of wear, they'd still have something.
  10. Well, spam the terminal with print statements. It'll give you much more insight into whats happening than a stranger who only looks at your code :P Best of luck.
  11. I'd rather get the mechanics of dragon armour / bars done right before I concentrate on black / white armour, as I can see sharpened dragon weapons and buffered armour be used much more frequently in game. Because black and white armour are (basically) steel, they can have the same levels as steel but different rates. Coloring it makes it more brittle? Who knows. But like I said, I'd prefer to have a solid dragon expansion before I tackle the other unsmithables.
  12. Corrupt dragon armour is pretty much useless. However, I'd like to prove a big point: F2Pers are willing to pay 156k FOR A DRAGON MED THAT ONLY LASTS 30 MINUTES. That's almost 3 times as much as members are willing to pay for it, even though IT ONLY LASTS 30 MINUTES!!!! Saying that the price would not "take off" if it was introduced into f2p is ridiculous, I'd estimate that it would increase in price by about 5, even 10 fold. A 300k-600k drop would make most monsters worth while. I don't know how common the drop is, but I'd imagine its somewhere around 1 in 100, as that's about how common the rune med drop is. Point is, it would generate a lot of interest in the KBD. Oh, but don't take what I say seriously, because I'm just an ignorant F2Per. For all you know I could be zezima. You only know about me what I choose to let you know, and it reflects more upon you than me when you attack me.
  13. You could also to check to see if the rocket is within range - for instance, if the rocket's distance away from the mouse is within the length of the next update, blow it up next time instead of updating it's position. I.E. - mouse is at 300,400, the rocket is at 305,400 and the update size is 10. Therefore, the rocket should blow up next time, but if the logic isn't there it could skip the mouse and move to 295,400
  14. Could you please provide the (relevant) source code here? Can you also describe the physics of what you're trying to accomplish? You're probably going to need to add some conditional statements for fringe states.
  15. If you want to write games for graphing calculators, I'd suggest going to ticalc.org and reading the stuff there. It might be more difficult than learning Java, I don't know. I can help get you started with Java Game programming, most games are designed around a loop, and I think I still have my source from the game I did in high school. I could strip out my game logic and let you put your own stuffs in. (That might save you 2-3 days worth of time). If you learn C, and you know it well, the jump to java shouldn't be too difficult. There are some things in C that Java doesn't use, but are good to know for your understanding of the inner workings of a computer.
  16. Finally we're getting you to debate. I base #1 on the fact that a dragon med is only worth it's alch. People buy dragon meds to alch! Its the same as willow logs, or certain unfinished bows. Its junk because its price is based on its high alch value. The suggestion is to kill 3 birds with 1 stone in a very simple update, which making the KBD F2P would do. There are plenty of helmets in Runescape that have better stats. Your argument is exactly the same as "the rune med helm isn't useless because of it's low value". Face it, there are better alternatives, and more alternatives. Whens the last time you've seen d-med on a recently written guide to anything combat related? They don't even put it there because of the alternatives. I don't know how many members there are with 60 defense, but I can guarantee you that there are easily 5-10x the number of F2Pers, at any instance in time. The med helm has slightly better stats than the rune full helm, and people will recognize it based on how "difficult" it is to obtain. Sara armour is worth 20x that of full rune, even though it doesn't have better stats. I'm not saying there will be the exact same ratio, but you better believe the price would go up.
  17. The solution to pay $5 a month isn't a "solution", because it doesn't address the OP's concerns: 1. The dragon med is a worthless drop. 2. The KBD, Giant Mole are outdated monsters, partly because of valueless "rare" drops, and partly because newer armour makes them no challenge. 3. F2P doesn't have a boss monster, so F2Pers can't relate to P2P boss hunting, nor can they utilize lootshare worlds. Paying $5 a month so that I can join members only to ignore outdated monsters doesn't solve any of these. Developing a completely new boss monster solely for F2P would be costly, and wouldn't fix the fact that the dragon med is worthless, nor would it fix the fact that there are perfectly good monsters already developed in F2P areas that aren't being used because they're no challenge. If you read the OP, you'd understand that, and we wouldn't be calling you a troll. You'd also have saved a lot of thread space and time. It seems no one here has a problem with that. I don't mind the fact that trimmed and god armour are only obtainable on P2P, and cost much much more than rune armour because of F2P. What Jagex needs to do is create more demand for the dragon med. The easiest way to do that is to add another few million people to buy it. Off topic: I found this handy feature under My Settings, Profile, Manage Ignored Users. You get the idea.
  18. Psh, who does that anyways? Why would you spend 6 weeks on the code that is generated in 10 minutes? To be honest, I've never done an application before Netbeans, espescially in java. Then I had to find a way to make some dynamic forms... and I learned why I hate application programming. thisFunction().thatReturnsAnObject().isReallyAnnoying().especiallyWhen().thereIsAnArray()[0].youGetThePicture(); Worst part is that Gui's are usually several paragraphs of that long.
  19. Well, it could end up being some good money makers for F2P. As far as the tally staffs, I think it would be better if you were able to store 5-20 ess in it, store up to 100 tabs of the same type in it, and give a chance to craft more runes with extra experience (5%). Lets face it, the tally staff is worthless unless you care *that* much about your appearance and absolutely have to have a mask on. And at 10k * price of ess (400k+ for f2p, 1m+ for P2P), its just a wasted bank spot. Anyhow, if you don't want to make it that, then change the amount of GOP tokens and the amount of FoG tokens. You get about 20x more GOP tokens in the same amount of time that it takes to get a FoG token. 20k+ GOP tokens is much more reasonable than 1k FoG tokens. I don't have much of an opinion on anything else though.
  20. First programming language I learned was BlitzBasic. Then I learned C my Freshman year of High School. Soon after I learned Java. Last year I learned MATLAB and Python. This year I learned ABEL, which isn't a really programming language, because it's more logic than anything else (more hardware than software). And although it isn't a "programming language", right now I'm starting to learn NI labview. On my Co-Op, I've used C and Java, for programming some consumer devices. I'm most familiar with Java, and the immense amount of "standard" libraries over crazy amounts of platforms makes it ideal, even though its performance suffers a bit. I'd recommend that you avoid basic at all costs, and that you take time to learn C for important concepts such as pointers and memory management which are lost in Java. I'd also recommend you'd learn Java for it's versatility, and the fact that netbeans is free. :P
  21. I work from 8-5 EST, so no. I think it would be best just to spam "When are you going to fix the Great Orb Project" over and over again, until he answers.
  22. The same question, does adding it to F2P make F2P any better, can be asked of trimmed and god armour. Technically the stats are worse than they are for fully rune (in the magic category anyway, everything else the same), yet players still want to buy it. Even if a dragon med had the same stats as a full rune helmet, people would still want to buy it. I'd estimate that there would be a high enough increase in demand to make the dragon med go up to 200k+ in price simply by adding it to F2P.
  23. I used to do range at ice giants in rimmington, south of port sarim. There were many options for safe spotting, and once they weren't aggressive the ice warriors are no big deal. I found that the time and the semi-afkability of flesh crawlers and spiders in the stronghold was more worth it. I must've watched 4-5 movies and who knows how many episodes of south park when I was training down there. Oh, and there's pretty much no point in F2P to having more than 20m unless you want a rare. If you never spend your GP, then you'll never benefit from having it. And buyable xp is ftw, <3 uncut sapphires.
  24. The community on CD is so much more vastly different than here. I think its in part because there's a near zero tolerance for spam (one warning and account is disabled), and because the community is self policing (user reputation). It also might be because nearly everyone there is either asking for help, giving help, or talking about the current robotics competition. I firmly believe though, that TIF could handle it. Tangent:Oh, and I just found the ignore feature in "My Settings". I think I have a solution to my problem. Ignore them in runescape, Ignore them on TIF. I don't need to give them a bad rep, I don't even need to read what they say. Life is good.
  25. Alright, here's a thread that shows that it really is rep, and not post count: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=80202 Poster #1 has 22 posts, and 3 bars. Poster#2 has 80 posts, but 1 bar. posts != rep. Last thing - On TIF, I do look at the post count. I have to be honest, that does factor in when I read people's replies. I know that if a user has >1000 posts, and have been around for that long without being banned, they must have done something right. Oh, and thanks for the wonderful job you guys are doing. Keep it up. (feel free to lock this thread)
