  1. I'm venting here, hence why I'm putting it in the rants section. If you can make me feel better, go for it. If you can make me laugh about it, go for it. If you're going to respectfully disagree, go for it. Otherwise, make your own rant ;) . So, I don't know about you, but I absolutely hate it when you attack person A, and they either ask for you to get off, or teleport, or run into a bank. Person A happens to be a few levels lower than you. Then, once they leave (in this instance, they teleported instantly), Person B comes in, (who by the way has a much greater level difference than you) and starts attacking you. Why? Because you hit someone lower than you. And, through their own reasoning, they're going to bring justice to the situation, and kill the "meanie" - who, by the way, did not pursue the person who teleported, or got off when the person asked them to get off. In this case, I had to teleport to get away from them. =D> Congrats idiot, you're a hypocrite. If you're going to do that, don't tell me why, just let me think that you're attacking me for the easy PK. ___ Another thing I don't like is when someone calls you a safer, but they're eating more than you are, to a fuller extent. I get to 20/79, eat a lobster, to 32/79 - This makes me a "noob safer!" - when they eat at least twice every time they get to the same point. =D> Congrats idiot, you're a hypocrite. Maybe somewhere someone should define it- Safing is eatting when your health points are outside the range where someone could kill you with one hit. OOooooOOOoooooooo - there, I just defined safing. Call it, Sees_all1's definition of Safing. I don't care if you safe, just don't call me out on it when you're doing the same thing. ____ The last thing I hate about PvP is how people complain about PJer's in bounty hunter, or similar. IMO, there are 2 types of PJing, the classical example is pile jumping - where a player hits another after they've PK'd, and are picking up loot - which I can understand why people are peeved about it. But, seemingly there's a new definition - player jumping. This is where someone is getting hit, and someone "jumps" on him, to bring him down, usually during a no-arm. What I can say is that probably everyone has done this - so the people that whine and complain about the injustice of PJers annoy me. =D> Congrats idiot, you're a hypocrite. The other thing I don't like, which really isn't hypocrisy, but its definitely annoying, is the players that sit at the teleport location in varrock - and whenever someone teleports in, they hit them. It took me a while to figure out what they were doing, and once as I was running away, and said "off" - the guy asked, "So u hve food?" This means that they're waiting for people to teleport in, and PJ them - why? for the heck of it I guess, anyone who kills someone like that sure as heck isn't going to get a drop. =D> Congrats idiot, you're an idiot.
  2. I'm sure most everyone who plays the Great Orb Project is well aware that Jagex sometimes can't count right - due to the fact that whoever wins the Air Altar wins the Mind Altar too, in the final tally. If your team wins the air altar, and stops playing, to restore run, take a break, or whatever, is this bug abuse? Seems to me that Jagex has dragged their feet on this one, and shouldn't penalize the players who recognize this. thoughts?
  3. but that would be like, giving f2p something. You can't do that!! :D I don't think revs were meant to be hunted and killed, at least on f2p. When revs first came out, I was going from clan wars to a bh, when an orc happened by. I foolishly followed it into level 20 wilderness, past, where I was owned in 6 hits. You can't eat fast enough with lobsters on revs. About a month ago, I was at clan wars, in a very busy world. Another orc happened by, and let me tell you, it was like pking of old. About 20 people bum rushed it, killing it in 2 seconds.   That was probably in my top 10 favorite moments.
  4. could be that you already have the required attack, and that because you got the next level it now deems you eligible. hmm... interesting.
  5. I understand junk trading can be annoying- but its how I got my santa hat. It was 14 mil at the time, and I had to buy 1/2 mil of willow logs. I was willing to pay up to 16 mil for it, so I was happy. That is the only experience I've ever had with it. I ended up selling most of the willows after having it sit in the GE at lowest price for a couple months, and put quite a few of them into the party room. Go figure.
  6. May I offer you a slice of Failcake? Mmmm... failcake. The best type of fail. Nom Nom Nom.
  7. Check out world 125 - its F2P, and the activity it has is "Stealing Creation". Does this means that Jagex flubbed up, and accidentally did that, or that they plan on releasing a f2p version of it? thoughts? (btw, I reported this as a bug already... we'll see what happens.)
  8. In F2P BH, the first thing a pure is going to do is to ask you for a "No Arm" - that way defense doesn't matter any more, and they're able to hit much higher and faster than you.
  9. I don't know about you, but I am actually a lvl 89 F2P'er - with 89 str and 75 mage. Dress up as a mage (IE use runecrafting clothes, or combat robes - none of this cruddy blue skirt, blue hat, etc), attack someone with rune. If they have any sense at all, they'll take their armor off. Keep fireblasting until you get them to around 25 health, then whip out your R2H, and boom, PK. Also, bind is a piece of cabbage. True, it would be nice to have a much better hold spell, but when jagex gives you lemons, make lemonade. You need to use magic near a fence to be completely effective. A simple side step keeps them there for about 2-3 hits, before they have enough sense to come to your side, then repeat the process. Use bind only when they're running to the bank - keep them away from there with your bind. ______ I also PK with my nub acct, sqelt. He's got 52 mage, and I can tell you, I've never lost with him. Try making a low level, they're easier to kill with.
  10. I don't like how rangers can hit their max consistently, or at least on F2P. Sure, someone maxed in melee can hit a 32 with a rune 2h, but they don't. I also don't like how high level rangers can hit through armor. It seems that at a higher level, the combat triangle goes to [cabbage], and range > melee > magic.
  11. I just got onto my lvl 35, sqelt, and had my way with about 5 people in the dwarvian mines. Most fun I've had in ages on RS - they all had armor on, and either killing scorpions or what not; none of them had food. Just goes to show that low level melee << low level mage. :P
  12. This is possible - but the week you take adjusting to this will be absolute hell. I would not recommend doing this.
  13. I agree that some people need to realize they need to take a breather... but Jagex did a poll on "how do you like minigames?" - I think this decided how GoP was made. I agree that people who leave should get larger penalties, or people who stay get rewarded much better.
  14. Is this a rant about the new PVP, or just a cry for members objects for f2p? Please do not mix the two, because I enjoy the new PVP, and I don't think that it is unbiased for "low levels." - Level up, nub. I also enjoy the fact that you get 10 seconds to kill them after they run into the bank, alot better than, cross over the ditch and be done.
  15. Well, in all fairness, you knew it was coming in October - JaGeX even said on its updates when it was coming out. I'm just trying to figure out if the Santa suit will include a hat - if so, I gotta get rid of mine, if not... well, I'm just going to hang onto it a bit longer. -.-
  16. merchanting rune and addy scimitars in front of bh before single-way and unbalanced trade regulations -- someone traded me rune (g) plate for 2 rune scimitars... I think they were desperate. (buying 100 addy scims for 500 ea, and selling for 4k ea was a blast, same with buying rune scims for 19k and selling for 25k) Then I got really upset when rune scims fell from 22k each to 16k during a vacation break... I had about 200 of them, so 1.2 mil loss kinda upset me... I sold everything, and had a drop part of about 2 million, saved 200k for myself and full rune. Took a break for 2 months, then got back, and made about 8 mil off of buying and selling rune sets, 4 mil from investing, and 1 mil off the ess price surge. :P
  17. There are two portals, one you lose your items the other you don't. And: A thread about someone being called a "noob"? Wow this is the first thread I've seen about this topic in a whole minute! You guys are slacking, if we need anything it's more "omg I got called a noob in a video game! RUNESCAPE PLAYERS SUCK" Um, no. He's complaining about how people are still playing as if they lose items upon death. They refuse to fight it all the way and instead run when running is absolutely pointless. And on top of that people are being hypocritical. But, what do you expect from 7-13 yr olds?
  18. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your replies, however may I remind you that this is the rant forum... And that you've lost the basic point of my rant: people who think like you annoy me. I understand that you disagree, but lets agree to disagree, and let this thread, which was put in the rants forum, remain a rant, and not a debate.
  19. I know that this isn't the place to put this, but meh, its about revs, and I'm sure all of you wanting to rant would like to hear this: I was walking to clan wars today, when an Orc started hitting me. Now I'm level 89, so getting maged in full rune by a level 105 is kinda a big deal. I walk by CW, and say "rev here, help!". At that instant, literally 15 people came out and started hitting it. It took about 30 seconds to kill it, but let me tell you it was the most awesome sight I'd seen. [cabbage] you revs!
  20. It wasn't my intention to get this in depth, however I will try to counter a few points. How many items in Runescape are luxury items, and how many are necessities? Most, if not all items in Runescape are luxury items. I would like to see you do the same. Thing is, no one will ever know exactly what caused it, as there are too many variables involved, including things that Runescape lacks - namely taxes, incomes, corporations, etc. Remind me, which items in Runescape were essential? Like, your avatar would not survive if it didn't get every day, etc. Nothing, really. The multiplier? As in theres a marginal propensity to spend, or a marginal propensity to save? Or the fact that gp in runescape is created, but (in effect) never destroyed? (With the exception of bans.) Last thing - the items that price manipulators use already cost millions. Its just doesn't make sense for them to be limited to items where they can only sell so much in so little time, without making a large profit. To the average joe in Runescape, a Santa Hat or a DFS or a P-Hat or anything is out of reach anyway, and even still until they get the minimum stat required to wield it. By the time they get there, they should already have their own ways to make money.
  21. I only join through blue, because I know that once I end up joining with the green team, theres someone else who can get in on yellow. And If I get on yellow, well so be it, I'm going to have a difficult time because theres going to be people on green who know what they're doing. Anyhow - I advocate joining through blue only, just because I like balanced teams. It peeves me to no end when somebody leaves their team, and perpetuates the cycle of "FFS noobs quit leaving" and resetting the clock. It also peeves me when I see 10 people standing around the yellow wizard, trying to get in. [hide=6 hints for noobs] [*:2xzi9rkn]If you're at the mind, earth, or body altar, and all you've done is stood next to the altar, attracting orbs in, theres good chances that you've haven't helped your team out at all. Those altars require you to go get the orbs, not wait for them to spawn near you. In a perfect situation, 70-90% of the people will be out at the outsides, and the other 10-30% will help finish it. [*:2xzi9rkn]If you're repelling your orb at the air altar, you're probably doing something wrong. [*:2xzi9rkn]If you don't know whether you're attracting or repelling, check before you click. The only thing worse than someone who doesn't help is someone who tries... but fails miserably. [*:2xzi9rkn]One person to an orb at a time, please. Unless theres more than 10 people on your team. Then go for it. This brings me to point #5 [*:2xzi9rkn]Once you've manipulated the orb as much as you can, break off of it. TBH you shouldn't wait for it to get to you/go to the spot, break off of it between 2 and 3 squares before it gets there. It'll still float on. Also that gives others the chance to keep on moving it, getting it to the end goal. [*:2xzi9rkn]If you can't follow any of these instructions, then blocking / unblocking is for you. Watch carefully where your opponents orbs are, and block off the area where they're going to. Just make sure you block it before it gets there, and that you don't look stupid pulling up a block as the orb floats on through. And unblock once the orb goes away, because you might just be hurting your own team.[/hide] I concur. If somebody drops out of a team before the match starts, causing the timer to reset, they shouldn't be allowed to join until after that game gets done.
  22. The short version: I don't like it when people get mad at others who are a little more market savvy, or just have a lot of gp. In case some of you don't have a background in economics: [hide=The econ background, for your viewing pleasure]There is something called a supply and demand curve. In a supply curve, the price of the item dictates the amount of people who are willing to sell. For instance, at price m, there are n people willing to sell. And theres also something called the demand curve. At a price m, there are o people willing to buy. Uncut sapphires are a good example. When the price of uncut sapphires gets to about 480, people are like, "Hey, thats a good deal. I should train crafting now. I'll buy a bunch of uncut sapphires." People with uncut sapphires will be like, "Hey, thats not a good deal. I'm not going to sell my sapphires." The price will then go up, because theres more people willing to buy than there are to sell, a scarcity has occurred. When the price of uncut sapphires get up to about 540, people are like "Hey, thats a bit expensive. I'm not going to train crafting right now, I don't need sapphires." People with sapphires are like, "Hey, thats a great price. I'm going to sell my sapphires now." Thats when a surplus has occurred. Now, a group of people could buy hundreds of thousands of uncut sapphires, and the price would not be affected too greatly, because uncut sapphires are a common occurrence, and like air or fire runes, are traded enough to keep a (relatively) stable price. Its with the items that are not so common where they can "Manipulate" the price. Hording in RS is much like scalping tickets, or buying a bunch of XBOX 360's or Wii's, and selling on ebay. People are willing to pay much more for an item when its scarce than what it actually might naturally occur. This will cause the price to rise, as people pay more and more for less and less. When the items finally get dumped, they'll settle down to what it naturally should be, or the market will pull the price back in. The reason that nobody gets "screwed" in scalping, is that, they're willing to pay for it. Heres a quick question, how much is something worth? The answer is how much somebody is willing to pay for it. Is a coffee at starbucks worth it to you? If its not, then you won't buy it, because you're not willing to pay for it. To someone else, it might be, so they'd buy it. Items in RS are much the same way, where its worth one thing to one person, and another to the next.[/hide] My view: If you can't beat 'em, join them. There are plenty of ways to make gp, so even if you don't have the millions others have, you can still get there if you put in a little effort. Yes, that means you too F2P. Stop complaining already. And so begins the flame:
  23. Alright, I know everyone has made a prediction about one thing or another. I remember making this one, and thought I'd repost it. http://itemdb-rs.runescape.com/2384_gra ... 36&scale=1 (from page 7 of the thread "12 Aug 2008 - Runecrafting Guild and Game - For All Players!") So it went to 62/65/68... I was close. What about everyone else, what was/is your prediction, and how did it turn out? (glad to see this thread taking off)
  24. flesh crawlers anyone? Each has 25 hp, meaning 100 xp per kill. Start 2-3 hitting them and you're getting fast xp, and they drop the occ. sapph or em. Also, they're aggressive in a single combat area, so they line up to die.
  25. IMO, lying about your runecrafting stat to get people to request assist is scamming, its as if you traded the essence to the player, then they trade you back something that wasn't agreed upon. If someone says x8 or x9, then they'd better give me x8 or x9 airs per ess. I think, though, that overall jagex improved runecrafting, especially for F2P. The items combined from FoG and GOP make runecrafting x5 easier - x2 the xp from rc gloves, and x2.5 faster from the teleports. The fact that you didn't see the price of ess skyrocketing for a short period of time is just bad merchanting skills on your part, I know I predicted that it would about double early on.
