Hmm if you look really closely to the w shaped things it seems they are transparent and there is something behind the (red curtain)... Doh..... My bad.... I can just picture the abuse the kid foolish enough to wear that would receive.

Strange power
I'm pretty sure it means that they're going make the people of runescape quake with fear, rather than make the earth quake.

Subtle References
maybe as a tribute they can add a "Crotch grab" emote? you would. anyway surprised no one has mentioned it but, when doing a clue scroll Uri will sometimes say "I am the eggman are you one of the eggmen?" which is a reference to The beatles, "I am the walrus"

Please, you just said that, because they 'once' updated the game, you expect them to do it every time? Look at a lot of other MMORPGs, how many REAL updates (so not including patches and fixes) do they get? fail at reading friend. She said if they released the requirements for a quest ahead of time, then everyone would expect them to every time. Also this isn't other MMORPG's, This is Runescape. So put that in your pipe.

and if they said there awasn't gonna be an update until about the 11th, why's everybody whining? It's not whining. Those of us who pay for our membership expect jagex to keep up a regular update schedule. For those of us who reupped just because of christmas and have already gone through the vast majority of other content in the game it's a real let down and money waste. Personally I hate to grind so i have no interest in going for 99's, i'm not really big on boss hunting, and i've played all the minigames and done all the quests, so what is there left for me besides waiting for new content? Edit - i also strongly dislike pvp. When i pay for a month of membership i expect that within those 4 weeks, there will be at least 2 updates. Now i don't expect an update every week, and i can even accept the occasional 2 week gap. But with waiting until the 11th for a new update, that will spell an entire month(11th dec is when a chrismas warble came out) without an update. That means one full membership period without a single update. That is just not fair to those of us who pay and have come to expect a certain standard. Then again maybe the 11th is going to spell some massive game changing super update and we'll all be singing praises, who knows, but for now i just want the normal update schedule. Edit 2 - Granzi while you may see those as unaccomplished things to do, some of us see them as droll and boring. For me i play the game for quests. When no new quests are available i generally lapse into inactivity. Like i said before, I'm not interested in a lot of the common goals. I don't give a damn about castle wars armor or void or infinity robes. I do want to finish my achievement diaries and am working towards it but that's more of a goal just to pass the time until a new quest comes out. As far as music, i never have it on so i don't give a damn about unlocking it. And yes i have completed all quests and subquests. You see while there may be things to do technically, some of us just don't like doing those bloody things, and i find it very ignorant of you to assume that just because they exist means we should want to do them. No we don't expect updates. Those of us paying for membership do so because we expect a bigger world, more skills, making things easier to train. To be fair not getting an update shouldn't bother members, you still wont get a free Dragon Platebody, or an automatic 99 so apart from a little bit of something like maybe a quest or a skill update what do we miss? Nothing much? Yes? And if you've done all that then why are you playing? If you're that bored that all you do is log in for updates what's the point? There is always something to do, skills to be raised, MTK to be done, monsters to kill, the variety on runescape is there for us to take not for Jagex to plonk right infront of us. I've recently got bored again of combat and slayer, I spent yesterday doing agility, I spent today fishing, tomorrow I'll do something else...... You have 28 skills to rise, so raise them. Jagex didn't just create them for the lulz. Each helps players in different ways so explore them. And if you're really that bored after all that then why don't you buy another games console or something? Or go play another game? So don't preach that members expect a certain standard and schedule, we shouldn't. Jagex work hard, and they do damn well with their pressure. No matter what update is released SOMEONE will complain. We already have the standard for the game as we pay what? Between £3.50 and £6 in the UK (don't know what it is for others but it's the exchanged equivalent) The standard is that we get skills, we get achievement capes, we get bosses, we get everything that free players do and more. NOTE: Libs I apologise if it seemed that I took your post the wrong way..... I actually found it rather humorous about them being meteorologists, I was kinda replying to the past 3 pages worth of posts complaining that there wouldn't be an update till the 11th yet Jagex could still make twitter updates etc. You continuously miss the point. I do not enjoy grinding so i don't want to spend a say doing nothing but endlessly training a skill.(with the exception of slayer for some reason) I don't like boss hunting, or pvp, and i've played the minigames to the point of redundancy. That's what it is really. Runescape, without updates, is an exercise in redundancy. You do the same thing over and over and over, and sure you can switch to another skill and do that over and over and over. but in the end you're still just grinding. The one thing in runescape that I really find enjoyable are the quests. Quests are the most important factor in any RPG as far as i'm concerned. Without a quest then you're just wandering aimlessly, and that's really not my thing. While I know there is technically plenty to do, there just aren't that many things that I really enjoy the way that I enjoy doing quests. Some people play for pvp. Some people play for capes. Some people play for minigames. I play for quests. Now I know every update won't be a new quest, and that's fine with me. I always try out new content and see if I like it. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, but you'll rarely see me complaining unless it was a badly made quest like the chosen commander or the new dwarf quest. Now that being said, I do not expect weekly updates, but I believe that at least one update in the space of a month isn't to much to ask. I'm ok with 1 off week, or even 2, but 3 is just too long.

Tip.it Creates a skill
I value your feedback, but we're working as a group effort, and if the people wanna talk about sailing then that's what we talk about. Perhaps i'll make a sequal to this thread after this one is done, and we can explore that possibility. In other news, First page is being updated now. The point is sailing is a joke, walk92 wasn't seriously suggesting it. there is no good reason to continue discussing it as it's been discussed 291719319273 times before and if we're going ahead with this thread then it should be something original rather than another discussion about the same thing that's been discussed time and time again. My bet is people only made suggestions due to the fact that on the heels of a joke you dedicated this thread to sailing rather than leaving it open to further suggestion. I'm sure there are plenty of valid ideas that could have been discussed had this thread not been ruined by making it another stupid sailing thread. I actually like the idea of coming up with a skill as a community, but we didn't come up with sailing, we're just discussing the same thing that's been picked over with a fine tooth comb time and time again. it's pointless and boring and 99% of us don't give a damn for that simple fact.

Tip.it Creates a skill
how about we get off the idea of sailing. It's not going to happen and it's not even interesting to talk about anymore. How about we, as Tiffers, come up with a brand new idea for a skill and work off it together. My vote is that all further discussion of sailing be dropped and we move on. in fact why don't you change the name of this thread to "If sailing were a skill" and start the thread over with the presupposition that only new skill ideas be discussed. For example, no sailing, no exploring, no archaeology, or any other previously formulated skill ideas. Otherwise this thread is just another sailing discussion.

Living rock patriarchs - does Jagex update things in the game for individual players?
jard, sometimes the ridiculousness of things you say really amazes me.

Adding something missing to magic, and more?
yehhhhh, no. if this were implemented it would destroy the balance. Magic users would suddenly hit terribly until they trained the new skill. it would be months before it began to level out. even if in the long run it might prove decent, in the short term it would be disastrous.

Will Zaros Bring the Balance Back?
I tend to think of Zaros as having no good/evil alignment at all. Sort of a "I don't give a flying cabbage about your little morality cabbage--just do my bidding when I ask you and you can do whatever the cabbage you feel like doing with your free time." attitude. With Saradomin, you're not allowed to be evil. With Zamorak, you're not allowed to be good. With Guthix, you need to be baanced. Zaros, on the other hand, couldn't care less--he just looks out for number one and doesn't expect any different of others. That's my impression anyway. A sort of Machiavellian philosophy that's more concerned with power than with good or evil. Yeh that's how i see it too.
-
Will Zaros Bring the Balance Back?
I was thinking of a new line focusing on the war meaning the first quest of the line wouldn't be grandmaster, the last one of this line would.
-
Will Zaros Bring the Balance Back?
I agree with nearly everything you said, EXCEPT, that Zaros will fail. I think he will succeed in re-entering the mortal realm and a brand new quest-line will begin. That will probably focus on the struggle for power between the gods, likely focusing on Zamorak vs. Zaros. It's likely that Saradomin will end up siding with Zamorak out of sheer cowardice, as followers of Saradomin were involved in Zaros' downfall. I honestly don't see how destroying Zamorak would negatively effect the game. It would certainly have worldwide implications, but only for those who have reached that point in the questline. The existence of Zamorak really has no major effect on any skills and his destruction would really only change the game's future story, rather than the gameplay. I think we may finally see the first questline were we can truly choose a side and have it really effect the outcome. It's unlikely because it would cause the entire world to have to be split into two different possible outcomes and would likely be far too large a project, however It could be.

Will Zaros Bring the Balance Back?
In another God letter, Guthix explains that he uses the term "brothers" to refer to the fact that they are all gods, so they are brothers in godhood. It's kinda like how people refer to those like them as their brothers, for instance in a military situation they may say "brothers-in-arms." Also, Guthix, is not, was not, and never will be a Mahjarrat. It's an absurd idea. He was around long before the other gods and possesses powers even they can't rival, much less a Mahjarrat. If Guthix showed up and faced down Lucien, Lucien would wet himself and cry for his Mahjamommy. Edit: And for those who say that Guthix isn't more powerful and the other Gods only obeyed him because he threatened to destroy the world I ask you this; If they were as powerful as he was couldn't they have simply stopped him? Think about that.

15-Dec-2009 Blood Runs Deep
Haha, I had a ridiculous inventory going in because i wanted to be prepared for whatever, but i died in the room with daggs rock lobs and wallasakis. i lost, various runes including hundreds of blood runes. mystic lava staff, neitiznot helm, glory, barrows gloves, fremmy sea boots, legends cape, SS, and guthans spear and helm. I was really mad, but only at myself. I liked the quest except the escorting, and i thought the story was slightly abrupt. All in all it was decent though. My strategy on the mother caused me to only eat 4 sharks and i'm only level 110. I brought runes and a staff to cast wave spells. a rune c-bow with broad bolts, and the axe. I wore karils, d boots and barrows gloves with a glory and a RoL just in case. I stayed a few steps away and prayer switched mostly between range and mage. I only stepped close for one or 2 hits when she turned orange and generally switched to praying melee while in close range. it's a lot of fast paced clicking but like i said only 4 sharks.

Will Zaros Bring the Balance Back?
Zamorak did the stabbing thing with Zaros before the God Wars. He was already gone; it was just his followers. no no no, see my point is zamorak was willing to fight against zaros. it seems so was Saradomin, and even some of the desert gods felt up to the challenge. However no one wanted to mess with Guthix when he got pissed off. Even with his new Godly powers Zamorak was like "oh ok well i'll just go play over here then shall i?" What i'm saying is they fought Zaros, but they fear Guthix. Remember that Zamorak is believed to have been in possession of the Stone of Jas around the time he challenged Zaros. We don't really know what happened to it afterwards; it's not likely that he still had it by the time Guthix woke up again. True, however Zamorak wasn't the only one to fight Zaros. Others tried as well. Now name one god who ever dared to fight Guthix. With Zaros it was like he was saying "bow before me or I will crush you to dust." He then proceeded to crush his enemies to dust one by one. Obviously he was very powerful. Next we have Guthix. Guthix wakes up, and he's pissed and here i will make a comparison. Guthix is a parent who is a bit overworked and has been working double shifts and finally manages to get in a little time for a nap. The god wars, are like Guthix's children yelling and fighting in the living room. Guthix wakes up, storms into the living room, throws something against the wall and proceeds to shout "IF YOU KIDS DON'T SHUT THE HELL UP AND GET OUTSIDE I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL BURN THE [bleep]ING HOUSE DOWN WITH YOU IN IT!!!!" The other gods then proceed to do as they're told. The difference here is Zaros uses a show of force to frighten his enemies. All Guthix has to do is make a threat and all the other gods are basically wetting themselves.

Will Zaros Bring the Balance Back?
This, except that i want to add to it. Both are neutral, but have different views and are opposites of eachother. They do not interfere unless their own balance is disrupted. Much like light and darkness collide, and very much unlike good versus evil. When Zamorak took zaros out, Then Guthix powers expanded, due to the lack of any competition from any direction. There was nothing to hold Guthix back, and as such, Guthix was forced to act. His motive was to restore balance upon himself. Do note that this assumes that Zaros is either another god of balance, or completley neutral, i.e. Zaros is oblivious to everything, and goes with the flow, although possessing great powers. Enough for being able to not be used by the other dieties. other than guthix that only needs the counterpart. The reason Zamorak succeeded can be laid on the powers he borrowed from others, and the fact that no god has yet to actually die. As such, assuming Zaros was oblivious, unafraid of it's own perish, the powers zamorak took might not have been stolen, but given or simply shared. I base this on: Marrahjat<lower Gods<Gods<Guthix and: Guthix = Zaros or Guthix < Zaros or that Zaros = oo (<- Fail at infinity sign) Ofcourse, it could just be that Zaros is the ultimate being, in the flesh rather than the other gods who seem more likley to use images of themselves like bandos did. This does not make as much sense as the one above though. There's a flaw in this. Zaros is not as powerful as Guthix. The other gods fought against Zaros, but when guthix stepped up and said "knock it off and get the hell out" they did it, no questions asked. Also i doubt Zaros is a counterbalance to guthix, because the counterbalance to balance would be entropy, and that's just not what zaros is about.

Will Zaros Bring the Balance Back?
The thing that makes me doubt this, is that under Zarosian rule, his forces built large and flourishing cities. A god who was based in bringing nothingness would seek to tear down and eliminate all life and civilization, thereby throwing the plane into nothingness. It just wouldn't make sense to build a city if you sought entropy and destruction. I have a feeling that his title "The Empty Lord" means that he is empty of emotion or compassion. It would seem to me that he is neither good nor evil but merely seeks to rule over all. He has no allegiance and therefore is the perfect agent of balance. I believe some may have seen him as a cruel or evil god because he had no concern for mortal life. Any who opposed him would be destroyed, simply for the fact that they did oppose his rule. He would side with neither good nor evil. Those who followed him would reap the benefits of his power and flourish while those who opposed him would be trampled beneath his feet. In this way his followers would see him a pillar of justice and order, and his opposition would see him as a dark force bent on destruction. One piece of evidence for this is that now it's all but assured that the power of the barrows brothers came from a Zarosian Mahjarrat. They were allowed to crusade in the name of Saradomin against the forces of Zamorak. However, after a time they were allowed to be killed ending the campaign and allowing Zamorak's forces to retake the ground they had lost. This suggests that he will side with whoever best suits his agenda, and will abandon them when they are no longer useful. The reason Juna would support his return is that, were he successful, he would destroy both sides and his rule, although cold and unfeeling, would be impartial. Balance need not be created by having equal power on the side of good and evil. True balance could be attained through the absolute destruction of both good and evil. In this way Zaros would be a destroyer god, but not the destroyer of gielinor, simply the destroyer of all opposing forces on gielinor. ya dig? Edit: Also entropy is the natural capacity of things to move from order to disorder. I'm pretty sure Zamorak is the entropy guy, not Zaros.
-
Will Zaros Bring the Balance Back?
i don't think Zaros was a destroyer. He wouldn't have built cities if he was a God of destruction. He would have ravaged them. I think he may have been a kind of neutral God. Perhaps simply a conqueror like Alexander the Great or the Roman Empire. They were hated by a lot of people because they took over, but they weren't evil and actually were very beneficial to the lands they conquered. I believe the other gods may have simply opposed him because he subjugated their territory. I think perhaps Zaros simply sees most of the other gods as pretenders to his throne. It seems like he may value might and order under his rule above all else. Edit: This is partly coming from the quote about surrounding himself with the minions of evil, and their likelihood of turning on him, and partly from Azzanadra's statements about his "order and peace." It seems he simply recruited the most powerful minions he could find regardless of their alignment. This would certainly support my theories.

ranarr
i always found the fastest and easiest way to get herbs was level 2 men in edgeville. I used to camp there for level one clue scrolls when i was a lower level. They're pretty much one hit kills and are common herb droppers, although they drop nothing else of any value.

03-Dec-2009 - The Temple at Senntisten
One thing that I thought about at the end of the quest was Zaros mentioning his faithful. If you talk to azzanadra after the quest he refers to you as "faithful one" and at some point says that Zaros requires us in the future. I may be off base here but it seems to me that maybe we will be acting as some sort of vessel for Zaros to return. On further thought I considered that for Zaros to regain his power, wouldn't Zamorak have to lose his? Imagine If Zaros were to enter our body, and through us, battle and defeat Zamorak. It would be the first time in runescape that we would ever truly face a god (an avatar of Bandos doesn't count in my opinion) From what it seems, we may also have been completely wrong about Zaros' alignment. Azzanadra certainly isn't evil, and he seems to suggest that Zaros isn't either. He speaks of Zaros using the terms, order and Justice. I'm intrigued. I'm a Guthix guy through and through, but I'm beginning to think that Zaros is much less like Zamorak than we may have been led to believe.

What do you think of a Runescape TD?
Time out, Frozen Throne's TD? What are you talking about. The only Custom TD map I know of that Blizzard made was Skibi's Tower Defense. Anyway, I do see how time limits could become an issue. I think that's probably fairly easy to work around though. As far as having one strategy for every game, I had mentioned randomizing which enemies spawn and what their weaknesses are. The levels of the enemies would stay the same, while the weaknesses would shift. Perhaps a warning would appear just before each wave to tell you what the weakness of the next wave would be. Or even mixed weakness waves. For instance each wave a random group of enemies spawns with varying weaknesses. To be honest the idea of playing for fun vs. playing for rewards exists in every part of runescape. Both minigames and the game itself are that way. Some players do things because they enjoy it, while others do it just to achieve the reward for completing it. As far as level advantage goes, that could be handled just like any other game with different game levels for different skill levels. Obviously if a large number of skills were used it would have to be done differently than most other minigames. For instance at the beginning of the game you choose to play as either a combat player or skiller. Now for combat it would just use your combat level as usual. However for skillers, it would take the relevant skills, total them up, and that is how they would be grouped. So another problem solved. The 50/50 thing is one reason I would rather see it be a Tower Defense, that a Tower War. In a TD everyone would be in it to win it, rather that winning half and losing half so that everyone gets the rewards. To address quitters, most TD's reduce the amount of spawned creeps for leavers. I would assume the same would be relevant in a Runescape TD. Oh and I have seen a TD before where it was a circle and every so often a new wave would spawn and the goal was to keep the creep count below a certain number for 30 minutes to win. That would actually be a pretty decent way for a Runescape TD to work in my opinion. It would certainly solve the problem of games lasting too long. The only problem there is finding a reason for the creeps to be running in a big circle.
