In an age where 4gb of RAM is under $45, OS requirements aren't a big deal at all.

Are you - A Hipster - Rich - A graphic artist who can't figure out how to run OSX on a PC If you answered yes to any of those questions, consider a mac. If not, a PC is a far better choice. That makes no sense. Macs use the same hardware, and take it from someone who's used a macbook from '07, they are still as slow as any 4 year old laptop, just you payed twice as much for it. Also, office for mac is horribly designed, and iwork or whatever it's called is comparable to MS works in it's awfulness. If RS is the most demanding thing you'll do, any $600 prebuilt or a $500 custom build would work, which comes to 650-750 with a nice HD monitor. For a mac, you're looking at a minimum of $1500.

I'm using it right now, but I can't figure out how to view statistics. EDIT - Figured it out, it seems to work well.

It's 18mbps, while I'm getting 8 right now. My neighbors only get about 12-13 in practice, but they also offer better HD channels.

If he's looking to upgrade that computer, I doubt he can just drop $100 for Win7 like it's nothing. There is NOTHING wrong with windows vista. Sure it's not the greatest OS to ever grace the earth, but there's no need to make it sound like it's a virus, like half of the internet does. Google windows java, it was an experiment where people who had heard about vista but not used it were split into two groups. One was given a copy of vista to test and rate, and the other was given a copy of windows java, which was just vista with a name change. The focus groups gave vista a score of 6.something, and the other group gave java a 8.something. Also, I'd get memory timed at 800mhz, there's no cost difference and it'll be faster.

How do we know Retech, Earth and Nex aren't Hex? How do we know Hex didn't guess my password and come back as me? In fact, how do you know that everyone else on this forum but you isn't the same person, and you are just being manipulated by them in some sick game? In fact, maybe you are Hex, but he is your other personality and you have no recollection of being each other. Maybe the whole world is just an extremely sophisticated AI and you are being subjected to some cruel test. Maybe this entire world is just a simulation by a future race in a complex program to determine how mankind would have turned out under different conditions.

I hate Civ for the reason that in real life a battalion of tanks would NEVER lose to an army of riflemen, even if they were crazily outnumbered. Did they ever fix this in Civ 5?

I like it. Hotspot shield , I only ever need it for Hulu and a few other American sites. It's a VPN, so it encrypts all traffic coming in and out, not just browser traffic. I see no need for a proxy, my school has literally blocked EVERY proxy on that site that lists them, and they are kinda pointless because everything can still be tracked back to you. The /b/tard that hacked Palin's email got caught, and he was behind 5 proxies or something.
