  1. Programs like Photoshop and InDesign have lots of features for editing text. This doesn't just mean making it bold or italics. There are options like kerning (the space between the letters, makes a lot of difference), you can adjust the width and height of individual letters, how far they sit from the base line and other factors. Good text and lettering is a hard thing to do, and goes far beyond just selecting a font and typeface. A font is the base set of letters, eg Times New Roman. A typeface is the style(s) applied to it, eg Times New Roman 12pt bold.
  2. Typography isn't just slapping a load of words together in a jumbled signature. Typography concerns everything to do with text, font, typeface etc. Every image you've ever seen that contains text has been carefully (in most cases) thought out from a typographical angle, to become its most effective.

Moved. Sorry but you can't be exempt from the rules just because you ask it not to be moved. We've had a lot of ideology discussion in Off-Topic recently. This thread is about the game, therefore it belongs here. The game angle will probably produce some different discussion anyway, we've heard all normal ideology opinons before.
  4. Vectors, in terms of digital art, are pretty simple. They use Bezier Curves, which is like a maths equation that determines the path of a line between two points. All the rendering in vector programs use maths to work out the position of the shapes. That's why vector art looks like it does, stuff is edited via shapes and lines rather than pixel by pixel, which is what raster programs do. Raster means that type of pixel handling, Photoshop, MS Paint, GIMP etc are raster programs. Subsequently the filesize of vectors are much smaller, since raster files store the information of every single pixel on the canvas. Vectors use the maths, which is much easier to store.
  5. I think you've thrown yourself in the deep end. Try to do something smaller, not a full blown signature.
  6. Pixels are very boring and take a long long long time. That's just how they are. You can't just whip up one in ten minutes or however long your attention span wears off. Attention to detail is key.
  7. You can't compare something made specifically by someone for someone else, to something that has a copyright which can be used freely by anyone for non-profit purposes.
  8. Depends how big your room is. If you have a large room with large walls it's going to cost you one hell of a lot to cover it.
  9. Please use the already existing thread to voice your opinion. Locked, Pryomancer.
  10. It's not his, that's made by Castelum. He's active (was?) on RSC. You can't take someone's work, slap your name on it and call it yours. That image wasn't made for you, so you have no right to use it.
  11. OK fair point about the Genesis thing I forgot about that. :P Try adding some debris, bits of rock and stuff. Look at the ring of debris around the impact on my signature. I'm not saying copy it but look at how each piece has a highlight and a shadow trail, that leads away from the light.
  12. Everything is blurred, there should be stuff in the background which isn't. There needs to be an actual cause of this explosion, at the moment it's just random. Try adding in some planets to give the picture some focus.
  13. Tip.It's copyright policy is for work submitted to be used by the site. Posting a picture of a tattoo doesn't apply to that. I think the tattoo looks pretty cool.
  14. Having the logo link back to the main page is one of the most important web design practises, I reckon.
  15. Sio was also an admin ;) Congratulations to Alduron & Siobhana, Our Newest Admins I never knew that, thanks Tripsis! :-#
  16. I believe that was ForsakenMage. Sio has been a moderator before, but she left and came back since we were short on staff. I think that's right.
  17. There's a big logo in the top left corner if you're using the Tip.It theme.
  18. What's wrong with it being a jpeg? There's no compression, the image is at 100% quality.
  19. It looks unnatural, you don't get that kind of stuff occuring in space. Realism, in terms of physics and reality, is vital. Of course massive planetary collisions and destroyed solar systems don't happen too often, although they are incredibly cool. That's what space art is all about, stuff on an unbelievably huge scale. It illustrates things that we'll likely never get to see actually occur in our lifetime, probably humanity's lifetime. The shapes and brushes you used don't happen in nature, they aren't natural shapes. Focus on planets and nebulae, that's a good start.
  20. That's because it was just an example that I put in to demonstrate how the trick works. ;) www.scamsite.com doesn't exist at all.

The glowing edges filter can be seen a mile off. It's very hectic and messy, and there's a weird explosion/star thing that shouldn't be there. It's looks like a star brush, I think I've got that set.
