hmm if you just want money with training collecting 2nd ingredients for herblore such as mort myre fungi, white berries, snape grass, red spider's egg etc are really not bad especially if you can use the lunar teleport or share it with someone else when collecting snape grass... alternatively just barrow...not sure if drop rates have been tweaked but i used to be able to make loads from barrowing last time although it was probably due to the high prices in the past as well...probably made at least 50M from there...there was once i got 4 v helms within a span of 20 runs in a single day and twice i got double drops although the double drops were not that fantastic in price...but i remember g spears being worth like 10M when barrows first came out...ah sweet \

train using falconry on dark/spotted kebbits before going on to red sallies until you can catch red chins at 63 although most people will advise a hunter level of around 70 before you try them...

bring SOME brews with sup restore and use them together when you want to restore your prayer points because if you should be prepared to take quite a bit of hits going as a ranger and using brews with sup rest will cause you to "over restore" your prayer points that's why you should get some sharks and maybe 4 brews 2 restores depending on how long you are planning to stay there and what prayers you will be using... oh and change your obby shield for a granite shield...cheaper and only difference is less str bonus which you...do not need unless you really love your kc #-o granite shield is heavier thought but you shouldn't be doing much running around in the boss room unlike sara where weight is important...

i think jungle horrors are one of the worst monsters...so far apart, little exp and sucky drops...when i first read slayer guides that they suck i didn't know how true it was and so i decided to try one out...never went back again

whatever link there is between the log economy and PvP, if there is one in the first place, will be so minor that it will have a negligible effect on log prices...i can't tell if you are serious, joking, or just trying to manipulate the log economy

for melee, spiders at sos are probably the best. for range you could try level 4 sos or lessers at karamaja...i prefer the bunch of lessers after i pass through the secret door cause there are more safe spots there and fewer people... for mage high alch is the way to go ;)

highly doubt that the new equipment for f2p (IF there will be new equipment at all) will have level 70 requirements...rather weird to jump from 40 to 70 in one go  besides lots of members won't be happy that the PvP update does not benefit them more...

do you happen to know that MSSW4 will be held in an f2p world?

no need for 4 people to answer the question with basically close to the same answer -.- this thread can can be locked since it has been answered...

KC definitely does not affect whether you get a barrow equipment or not (excluding boltrack). only the KC of the brothers count towards barrow equipment...there is indeed no such thing as the "lucky number" and it is all just a coincidence. Why would Jagex allow that to happen? so that players can abuse the system and keep getting a particular KC? it would be considered an unfair advantage from Jagex's viewpoint and they do clamp down and make no allowances towards such advantages as seen from the sara gwd -.- i just try to get more than 10 and kill different creatures as well...

to some extent combat has indeed over-powered skilling...one very noticeable area is how smithing of weapons and armour is no longer a viable option anymore. in RS1 lots of people held smithers in high respect and everyone waited eagerly for the first smither to get 99 smithing in order to make the best rune equipment. back then smithers were one of the richest players and most people regarded addy and even mithril as very expensive. currently only noobs (low level players) wear these items and their prices are...dirt cheap. everyone wants to get bandos or barrow or 3rd age which unfortunately cannot be made by smithers. back then, most non-combat skills had links to combat and demand for more combat will drive the demand for non-combat skills such as mining, smithing, crafting, fishing, cooking, herblore and stuff. back then it was everyone's dream to get 99 smithing due to the money that could be earned but now...getting 99 smithing will cause you quite a bit unless you make cballs which is slow -.- Jagex should tighten the relationship between non-combat and combat skills once again...and i would also like to point out that the GE did not just lower potion prices but the prices of everything. the main reason why potion prices are so low is because lots of high level players left the game when PvP was taken away, reducing the demand for potions. however introduction of GWD propped up the price of these potions somewhat, especially sara brews.

Something to Alchs to give profit including price of nats
davidium replied to Spooks's topic in Help and Advice
not many people will tell you cause they will probably take advantage of it themselves first to prevent prices from rising...best to find an item yourself...most of the "worthless" items on GE have their min price to include cost of nats so you shouldn't lose too much anyway... -
Bandos Godsword's Price - Advice Needed
davidium replied to Dracula_Magic's topic in Help and Advice
i doubt it will rise much if at all because new weapons will come out with PvP which will be all the rage...even if the new weapons are not decisively better than the godswords they will still cause the godswords to fall in price due to their novelty the same way dfs has been tanking for the past few days since release of CB...imo i rather prefer the strength bonus of dfs seeing that items with str bonus have much higher prices (zerker VS warrior ring and fury) but back on-topic, i wouldn't advise anyone to spend all their money on a single item as it will limit your ability to go around doing stuff in RS such as skilling or even boss hunting since you will require food and pots. also, in the event that you do die such as lag etc and you forget to turn on protect item fast enough or some glitch occurs (nothing is impossible, while it is rare for players to loose items due to jagex's fault this has happened before such as the fight pits incident and the notorious doomsday thingy) you will lose basically everything that you have which is something i wouldn't want to happen to me =) -
well a higher prayer is always good  although it is indeed true that the cost of getting to higher prayer levels rises exponentially in relation to the benefits you get from the higher prayer levels especially for f2p since there are no skill capes...fastest would be to buy all the big bones and stand at a bank booth burying and banking ;)

good way will be to do herb runs using snap seeds or ranars and remember to plant marigolds too...these are in high demand. while waiting for your herbs to grow you can rc which makes you quite a good sum of money every hour...by doing this you can probably get about 300k an hour at least depending on what herbs you grow, what runes you craft and how you craft them.
-
barrow armour are probably the most cost effective armour in the game...yea sure str bonus is important and all but it is also very costly. for the rich go ahead and get zerker rings, fury, bandos etc but for those who prefer to use their wealth for better purposes like me, it will be an extremely wise decision to choose the next best alternative. take a dfs instead of the new shields and previously i always used a d sq or rune defender. use torag for optimum def > than that of bandos. with a bunyip you shouldn't need guthan if you are only doing slayer tasks. if you plan on dharoking then get the dh plate obviously though... with the cash saved you can spend on better items such as sup sets and stuff...

what is counted as price manipulating and what is it?
davidium replied to needmore's topic in Help and Advice
it will be hard to draw the line between price manipulating and merchanting...but surprisingly Jagex seems to be against both in the recent posts that the mods made. generally yea what you stated will be considered as price manipulating but in the same way when someone with loads of money buys up a single item to he can be considered to be price manipulating too. someone with 2.1 billion buying up an item will be more effective than 10 people with 100 million each buying up an item right? since 10 X 100 million = 1 billion which is slightly less than half of 2.1 billion (for the mathematically impaired) so since we can now say that a single player should be considered as price manipulating where should we draw the line? when a player buys up 10, 000 of the item? 1 billion gp worth of that item? or 1% of the total quantity of that item in the game? so you see here we have 3 different ways to determine it: quantity of item, how much gp is spent on buying up the item and even what is the total percentage quantity of the item that was bought up in comparison with the total amount of that item in the game. and how will we be able to differentiate investors from manipulators? which manipulator is going to openly admit to jagex that they are price manipulating? basically it will be exceedingly difficult and challenging for jagex to come up with a good solution to this problem of price manipulation which is why they chose the easiest way out like they have done time and again: impose quantity limits across the board, affecting every innocent by-stander with their actions :-w -

Jagex Attempting to Stop Monopolies?
davidium replied to Dragons_Might's topic in General Discussion
O.K. Here goes. What would smithers possibly be making that involves such a high price. Of course (you will hate me for this) godsword shards can be smithed but it doesn't give much xp. And when I last checked people can't make TT items. So yeah. That's all. sorry but i don't understand what you are saying...in the FIRST post of this topic, the quote said that Jagex imposed quantity restrictions when trading weapons and equipment so anyone would think that these include bronze equipment all the way up to rune equipment no? and i can bet you anything that most smithers will be smithing more than 10 pieces of equipment in 4 hours unless they somehow got loads of randoms :-w although someone else has clarified that the limit does not apply to all equipment, blame the first post for not being precise and clear. -
Jagex Attempting to Stop Monopolies?
davidium replied to Dragons_Might's topic in General Discussion
it WAS a free market initially like any other MMORPGs but jagex dealt the free market a heavy blow with the introduction of the G.E. but even more so with trade limits. By limiting the quantity of an item we can buy now, they are dealing the free market yet ANOTHER blow...triple whammy ftl you say that it is not a free market because several prices are fixed in the game. EXACTLY...these prices are fixed by none other than jagex. look at the price of phats/3rd age/animal masks and you will see how screwed up their pricings are...well at least recently phat prices dropped slightly but it is still moving too slowly to respond to demand and supply changes fast enough...trade limits were a bad enough thing for the free market..quantity limits only make things worse -
if you are using crush attack such as that at water fiends then zerker ring is really useful...if not, warrior ring is quite good as it is :)

bring a good shield too such as dfs or one of the new shields too instead of a godsword/2 handed weapon cause nechs hit hard...even harder than gargoyles imo

Jagex Attempting to Stop Monopolies?
davidium replied to Dragons_Might's topic in General Discussion
Replace the U.S. House with Jagex's staff and get communist Russia and China? Is that what you want? Don't you know that Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher were famous for deregulating the American and UK's economies respectively...Thus bringing about great economic spurts? The world has swung from that of a free market stance to a command economy stance and finally back to a free market stance once again albeit with a mixture of government intervention this time around. The free market came to a halt with the Great Depression but after a few decades the fall of the Berlin Wall just close to 2 decades ago signified the return of the free market but this time in the form of a mixed economy. The world has seen how both the free economy and command economy have failed and thus many feel that the mixed economy is the right way to go. However the bigger question is THE EXTENT to which governments should interfere in the free market...if Jagex ran the US economy, there will be so much regulation and State Owned Enterprises which have no profit incentive of motive that it will result in great inefficiency and a failed economy. I'm not saying that the current US leaders are good either...many people blame Alan Greenspan for his lack of regulation because he kept interest rates at low levels allowing easy credit to form and thus the housing bubble to emerge. The current sub-prime crisis is the result of much greed among Americans both home-owners and people on Wall Street. I loved seeing how America fell...they really deserve it...look at their humongous trade deficit with the rest of the world and you will see the reason why they have been able to enjoy such high standards of living in recent years while the majority of the world slogged away in poverty. America preached about the need for transparency and regulation but the hypocrites practiced none of that themselves. A decade ago during the Asian financial crisis, countries such as Korea (one of the worst hit countries of the crisis) were cornered, bullied and bashed up with the many strict pre-conditions before the US would offer any form of aid to them...this time round the tables have turned and the Korean Development Bank (KDB) left Lehman in the lurch without bailing them out =D> -
Jagex Attempting to Stop Monopolies?
davidium replied to Dragons_Might's topic in General Discussion
I can't say i like the way Jagex seems to be interfering with just about every small thing that "goes wrong". The distinction between disapproving of something and disallowing it seems to have been lost in debates like this. We should be free to make whatever moral, political or other criticisms we choose of what is happening in society. To some of us, freedom of speech is the most important choice of all. However, criticism should not be confused with censorship or bans. The fact that you find something offensive is no good reason to turn it into a criminal offence. Just because someone's actions irritate you or that you don't like what someone is doing doesn't mean that the activity should be banned altogether. Yet there is a powerful trend in recent months for Jagex to try to outlaw whatever is deemed outlandish. Ideas for safespots such as those as the sara gwd, Real World Trading, coarse language, minor "glitches" which do not harm anyone (not talking about glitches such as doomsday but MINOR ones in the name of fun) and many more are not just frowned upon or denounced but are likely to be investigated, prepertraitors punished and ideas demolished altogether. In a free society, however, people ought to have the right to make the choices for themselves even if it is the 'wrong' choice and despite the fact that others might disapprove. Unfortunately, Jagex is a company where illiberal liberalism and intolerant tolerance are the dominant values. All of this is done in the name of defending newbie players in a safe and cosy environment. Jagex determines what we can say or cannot say, how much we can buy and cannot buy, how we should go about killing monsters such as sara's commander zilyana, restricting the value of items we can give our friends, setting price ceilings and price floors for us and so many more. For people who think that setting price ceilings and price floors do not affect prices on GE and thus are fine please think again. In the real world, trade taking place in black markets do not affect the prices of goods being traded at price ceilings and floors too just like Runescape but everyone who has studied even a bit of economics should know that price ceilings and price floors without further regulation will result in a black market which is DEFINITELY worse than a free market. This statement is widely accepted by just about every well-known economists. Increasingly, Jagex is gearing the game towards one which is meant for kiddies below the age of 13 rather than above the age of 13...warning signs, strict censorship, trade limit...protect, protect, protect. Just because Jagex thinks that young players do not have the intellectual capability to understand, participate and thus benefit from merchanting/manipulation doesn't mean that they should restrict it altogether. Come on...if this is a game for people above the age of 13 the players then should be of a certain maturity and ability to protect themselves instead of having a nanny to babysit them all the time. Even games like MapleStory which is suitable for players below 13 and even below 7 do not censor as much as Jagex nor restrict activities that much. Free trade is allowed with no restrictions to RWT and stuff and language censorships are much more liberal. Many of play MMORPGs as a form of escapism to enter a virtual world where we are free of society's constraints. Imposing even more restrictions than those in the real world is rather quite a turn off. -
Jagex Attempting to Stop Monopolies?
davidium replied to Dragons_Might's topic in General Discussion
oh really? didn't know that...the first post wasn't clear i guess...the guy just said all equipment and armour -.- well then i guess if it only applies to rares and TT it doesn't affect me that much...i only price merch stuff like food, runes, potions etc  basically items which are present in such large amounts that to raise the prices of such items you will need to involve the whole RS economy (i.e. can't be manipulated by small groups of nubcakes)
