  1. Well if you look at the post above yours, Fatherdeath, I think that confidence may have solid grounds.
  2. Sorry, I've no proof to provide you but only my common sense. Jagex aren't going to punish legitimate players (By not providing what was promised) because bots have found a way to cheat it. (If they have)
  3. At 11am this morning, BST. There was around 90k players online. The system update, which came over three hours later...There was still roughly that amount on. After the update, (I didn't return for two hours or so), along with many others, I'm sure...There's 80k online. Lest we not over exaggerate until we see the real effect in a few hours. (People still at school/work, etc.)
  4. Go to the options setting (Where aid on/off is, etc.) there's a box you can tick/untick to enable/disable it.
  5. What backlash? I think anyone 'ranting' about this is pathetic. Anti-bot update...Better late than never. It's pathetic to [bleep] about them not delivering on time.
  6. LoL seems pretty popular actually, so I wasn't surprised they got 1st. A lot of people at my college play it. World of Tanks on the other hand... [/hide] Popular as it may be, Den, the voting is really questionable considering the rewards offered if they won. It would be hugely different if Jagex had of offered a reward. not at all. runescapers were inclined already with an offered reward. Hurrrrrr... What reward? I agree with Newb, it would have been a huge difference if a reward was part of the formula. I would've bothered voting if I knew I would have gotten something out of it, honestly. But Jagex didn't bother bribing their players, just gave a few reminders to support them in the (entirely superficial) Golden Joystick Awards. Even without bribery, they still got in 3rd which is a pretty respectable place, all things considered. Sorry Sword? Mind showing me where, please? I didn't see "vote and you'll get..." or "If we win, this could be yours!" or anything of the sort. It was just asking for votes; with the possiblity (following the previous two years) of receiving an in-game item (Nothing confirmed), as it would only be followin suit. If they had of said "If we win, you'll get a double XP weekend!"...It would have won. You and I know that. Bribing the players is one thing - people believing it went down legitimately even with bribes is just crazy.

  8. Well I presume they've collected the names and will ban them. Someone posted on the forum about them having warned these people and that they would stop when they saw the warning, and not end up getting punished. A jmod replied "Don't worry, we've got that covered."

Happened to me a while ago, Indy. But the issue stopped a little while later. (It's my fault for spilling alcohol on the power button by accident). Mine's fat 40GB is still going strong after what, 4 years? Had an issue the other day where it hard locked (Completely froze up) while playing MAG - had to switch it off at the rear. Power button wasn't working. Thought that was it, then. Googled around and found out how to open it up, so I did. Turns out there's rust around the power button underneath that just needed to be cleared away, and it the power button then worked to turn it on. Friend from MAG said that Sony have been offering slim's for 99$ if you send back a broken fat. Couldn't find a link anywhere, though! :(
  10. Blyaunte, Kaida: I get what you're both talking about. But isn't a roll-back (A good roll-back), not just essentially the same as a ban? The players stats that they cheated to gain, were completely restored to their original levels? I think a rollback might keep these people playing, but an all-out permanent ban won't. Granted these people have broken rules, but that's been punished. It means their friends lists, etc. aren't completely lost. Things they did earn legitimately, aren't lost. I'm not for rollbacks, but I think if it doesn't drive more people away from the game then it's a satisfactory replacement for a permanent ban - IMHO.
  11. Indeed, Unknown! There's no harm in asking players for votes, but providing rewards is different. That's probably why a game most people haven't heard of (I played the BETA - not my kind of game!) came 2nd. Possibly a large reason why LoL won, also.
  12. This voting now comes down to which company can offer the best incentives to its customers. If Jagex offered Double XP for a weekend if they won, I'd almost guarantee they'd secure number 1. Just like LoL offered 10 free IP thingy-ma-bobs and WoT offered 5X Xp, Jagex didn't actually offer anything but the possibility (it was never confirmed) of an item.
  13. Well most bots you see are Reflection/Injection bots, so why wouldn't it work as well as they are saying?
  14. Highly possible, Kaida. Considering it's halloween and the Grim Reaper's about. The deaths of thousands would suit the scythe.
  15. So -- you would accept, say, the elimination of 25% of the bots (say ess miners and soceress's garden bots), a roll back of all their skills and no bannings whatsoever? That's "something" and not "nothing", right? If they've been gathering names for a while now, I'd expect they'll throw out a fair few bans or entire roll-backs, considering they'll be unable to bot any of their levels again. I don't know, Blyaunte. At this point I'd be happy with anything. Bots have never actually directly effected me (I spend all of my time bank standing in Edgeville), but I know they bother a lot of other people - and any kind of removal of them will be beneficial. And no, I think I'd rather essence bots and sorcerers garden bots as opposed to bots killing common monsters that real players kill for money.
  16. I'll accept anything as long as it's not nothing. Get rid of a lot of the bots would be satistfying, even if there's still some left. But I'm positive, and expect it to work to get rid of 98%.

  18. One minute you're meekly saying that Jiblix didn't do anything, the next you're saying he's the voice of the people and you're taking down the greedy corporate fatcats. This would have happened with or without people thinking they could've ROWROWFIGHTEDDAPOWAAAAAA. They had a lot more quality competition with stronger, more active userbases. Finally, a logical way for them to look at it rather than the self-praising "L0L LUK WHAT WE DID", bullshit. 'Greedy and evil corporate Jagex', you mean...A company? Consider then that all companies aiming to make a profit are greedy and evil. I'm baffled as to how people are believing this actually had anything to do with a video posted by an attention seeker that pointed out nothing other than common knowledge. Good job Tip.It, you never cease to amaze me. EDIT: Kimberly, yes. They were promised during the voting stage. League of Legends users would receive a "10-Win IP Boost!" (I don't know what that is.) World of Tanks users would receive 5X experience.
  19. I think that's probably the most greedy way of looking at this update. But whatever. Hopefully it doesn't fail, and people with your mindset realise you'll need to put in that extra effort. While bots are lowering your prices, they're making it more difficult for people that can't afford that 50M to earn any money.
  20. Honestly, it's a meaningless award. Win or not, it doesn't matter. Nothing would have changed if they won, and nothing will change that they lost. If it wasn't for the developers pointing out these awards, people wouldn't know about them. After a few days, everyone will forget about it.
  21. I'm lost for words. What the [bleep]? Tuesday can either be a huge day in the history of this game, or a disaster. I'm certain that it will work, so...Wow.
  22. Exactly. Kinda sad to see how many spiteful nerds decided to vote against Runescape even though they never played any of the other games on the list. Way to be grateful for the thousands of hours of enjoyment you've gotten out of Runescape. Sure, Jagex has been puking out more marketing gimmicks as of late, but that's NORMAL. Any company that wants to make money does this. I bet most, if not all, of the other games in the "free play" category have some crap they pull to rake in a few extra dollars. The post under yours...Perfect for what you've just said, Chee. I think the attitudes on here have become pathetic.
  23. Honestly - what's going to change, Crocefisso? Nothing, nothing at all. Because the award is rather pointless. Something I had never heard of until Jagex posted about it three years ago, and somehting that's never spoken about after the event. Nothing will change.
  24. Our clan (Of just 141 members or so) has Tier 5 currently, as any other clan that has kept on top of its resources. Most people have been participating, and enjoy the social aspect of it. I'd wish it was more AFKable, so I could talk more...But sadly it's not, but I'm not that bothered by it. I have plenty of money that I could buy XP with outside of the citadel, I could train Mining in the most efficient way possible. But I don't. I hate mining with a passion. But when I know that when I mine, I benefit everyone...It keeps me going. It makes me want to do it.
  25. Because gathering resources in the citadels sucks and there are a number of people that would rather do anything than that? No pain, no gain. They shouldn't be a free ride, no matter what. Your getting an opportunity to skill with friends in your clan, getting free XP, to boot. Hard work and dedication pays off. Please. No pain, no gain. Guess what? There is no gain. The skilling exp isn't free, it costs time. Time you could probably use to gain more exp in a more efficient method, not to mention a less grindy method - higher levels of WC/Mining, which are the first two resources, are far more AFK-able and I'm pretty sure give more exp/h then the citadel The social aspect should be discarded imho, since you could just as well do an event with your friends that provides a much more tangible reward then the citadel, or one that requires far less effort. Frankly the way I see it, I support this. Why? Not because I think money should be a way out of citadel work, but because the current system sucks. Maybe some social clans have fun in there, but there are a significant amount of players who don't work on the citadel because it isn't worth it. Imo, Jagex either needs to make it worth it or make it easier to do. Paying money makes it easier to do. Hence my support. I'd just as quickly support changing the citadels so they only take like 15 minutes of work or giving some sort of good exp lamp if you max out (and perhaps lower the citadel exp rates to compensate.) Or I'd support making the citadels actually useful in some way. There's gain by way of XP that comes free, and the chance to skill with friends, with a community. Knowing that you and your friends have kept working and achieved a Tier 7 Citadel, with the best possible upgrades. That, in itself, is an achievement. That's a huge gain. Crafting offers a rather hefty amount of XP with the loom, too. Over 250k XP if you only do crafting. I know with the Citadel I'm training skills I wouldn't normally touch. I'm happy with that, very happy. I've gained 3 mining levels since the release of the Citadel. Mining is a skill I hadn't touched in probably two years. Each to their own, I guess.
