  1. Any chance the quest calculator could be updated to change the fact that there are now multiple boxes to click for each part of the Recipe for Disaster quest so that the Great Brain Robbery quest does not incorrectly show that the quest cannot be completed by people who have already done the Pirate Pete portion of the RFD quest? It still says you must complete the whole thing. A minor change that may involve major work, but I think it's worth it to curb confusion among newer players using the Tip.It calculator...and that's what the calculator is for anyway, right? To show which ones you need to do in red and the requirements already completed in green.
  2. Still, you can "use" the logs on the pyrelord but it doesn't allow you to create fires above your level...I don't see a difference.
  3. One more thing...the headband didn't seem to work on my maple tree that I planted...so perhaps player planted trees don't get the benefit...not to mention...what about maple trees in other places? Is it just for those in Seer's village?
  4. I'm curious? What's the Lumbridge task that was moved?
  5. Is that the definition of invisible boost? What about the crystal saw? It boosts, but DOES allow you to craft higher level items...and it's not a visible boost. It doesn't seem to make much sense...higher levels (especially only a +3 level boost) doesn't make THAT much of a difference...so why have an "invisible boost" at all?
  6. I thought it was clear that I AM a member. I thought the preparing was useful...it allowed me to breeze through a bunch of quests that opened up more of the world...which helps train the higher level skills.
  7. It's actually already been mentioned to the staff...in fact, they have A BUNCH of updates to look through.
  8. you have to kill the moving ones not by mining one and killing it That's correct...perhaps someone read my observations on the first morning the diary came out? :) http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=779957&p=6385150#p6385150
  9. This actually sounds like a better method than the one listed. It would take some massive testing to get done (a number of people would have to try it and succeed with very few if any deaths in order to warrant a change like that, I think), but I think it's worth a test.
  10. you have to MAKE the construction tea in your POH and it cannot be taken out of your home, nor can the ingredients or the instruments used to make/drink it. You need increasingly better shelves to make better teas (up to +3). You might be better off trying for evil dave's stew and the crystal saw if you want to boost construction. If you have any negative stat effects from the stew, you can balance it out with a stat restore potion (I BELIEVE...don't quote me on that).
  11. I just thought I'd mention that what I thought would be just a couple months of membership has turned into dreading the thought at having to drop membership! No looking back after seeing all the content!
  12. crud on a cracker...that means I'm something like 350 points away...
  13. You can check past editions of the Penguin Locations (some of them have probably been archived out) in the Distractions and Diversions sub-heading of the official RuneScape forums. At least in World 60, the previous poster is right...it's rare to have on inside the Gnome Stronghold (not unique, but rare).
  14. Confirmed here : http://www.runescape.com/kbase/view.ws?guid=seers_village_achievement
  15. One of my least favorite combat-related skills to train has been slayer. Sure, I hate herblore, runecrafting, hunting, construction, and agility training like anyone else, but slayer seems to be something...counter-intuitive to repetitive gameplay. Rather than seeking out any enemy (or even one at the highest possible level) to slay, you're assigned a monster to slay, seemingly at random and at the same time, a seemingly arbitrary number of the monster to kill. Since in the RuneScape universe the monsters re-spawn, it's not like you're doing so to rid a cave of a dragon that is terrorizing a village...you're doing it for reputation. Such reputation is awarded in points once you complete a particular quest and those points allow you to "customize" your slaying experience. It's annoying. For one, I don't usually like killing the ones you are assigned to kill. For another, you're only awarded miniscule experience for defeating even high level monsters, so getting those assignments aren't often worth the trouble. For another, slayer seems loosely tied to summoning, a skill I've decided not to train (maybe ever). That said, there is one part of the slayer skill that may not be immediately apparent. It gets you to visit - and try to kill - monsters you'd usually either avoid or never bother to attempt to slay! A bronze dragon slayer task has frozen my slayer skill level at 56 for several weeks. Once my weekly quest was complete (and a side quest for good measure) and this week's new content dealt with (the seer's village diary), I decided to take another shot at advancing my slayer level (at least before my weekly penguin hunting). I outfitted myself in a Helm of Neitiznot, legend's cape, amulet of glory, rune platebody, rune platelegs, Klank's gauntlets, Ring of Wealth, anti-dragonfire shield, and dragon longsword and dragon dagger with super weapon poison (DDP++). I first made sure I had a one-click teleport (elf crystal), then grabbed my holy wrench, and some stat boosting potions. A super strength mix...a combat mix...a defence mix. I was finally able to purchase antifire mix on the Grand Exchange. No one seemed to be selling the last time I thought I'd make a stab at bronze dragons. I took along two with four prayer mixes and filled the rest of my inventory with monkfish. A seasoned metal dragon killer would probably laugh at the over-preparing. I was just being careful. A dip in the Oo'glog pools, a teleport to Edgeville...and I was off to the Chaos Tunnels! What a rush! At first, it seemed like the load I carried would only allow for one kill...I wasn't making a dent and the Earth Warriors were annoying as heck. The antifire potion seemed like overkill with the protect against melee prayer, so I experimented briefly with combinations of the two. Only once did both dragons gang up on me, so only once did I seek refuge, but I quickly resumed the fight. It wasn't long before I had my first kill and though I didn't get any fantastic drops, the thrill of being stronger than a formidable foe was quite thrilling! I learned something about my character...as strange as that may sound! I don't imagine I'll be stalking metal dragons without real reasons, but it's nice to know that I have an option for training combat skills in conjunction with another skill once again. I don't think I'll be looking forward to iron or steel dragons anytime soon, but at least I can look forward to the possibility of accessing two more quests in the near future and with those...new content. I'll smith and smelt my way to level 67 this week before cashing in my penguin points and look over my achievement diaries to see which tasks can be crossed off and then get back to the bronze dragons and hopefully, a new, easier task from Chaldear! One of the things I needed to do in order to outfit my player in the best gear possible was to see which items available to me would give me the best protection or stat boosts, so that when substitutions had to be made, I could see where to start making modifications. Wondering what those current ultimate setups are? I'm so glad you asked! 16. Oh...and I noticed a new graphical update: [hide=Different resources collected screen][/hide]
  17. It's probably not necessary to note, but I thought I would anyway... Wearing the headband while cutting maples for Lief on Miscellania does not get you even 10 experience. I thought maybe that would be a nice loophole, but I'm pretty sure that the experience is only for logs that you can cut and keep. Also, I didn't seem to have much luck getting extra logs from Evergreen trees (which get you normal logs) and I'm wondering if testing could/should be done on trees such as dead trees or anything that gives you normal logs...or if it's just applying to trees that just say "tree" and only for ones off the isle of Miscellania and Etceteria. EDIT: I've done some testing and it seems the headband only gives extra experience and extra normal logs within the Seer's Village.
  18. Not really...the locations change every week and I'm positive that they are different from world-to-world. I know there have been penguins in the Gnome Stronghold before, but I was just saying that A) the locations have reset and B) if people want an easy one, the Stronghold is it...World 124.
  19. Just FYI...World 124, there's a penguin (bush) that just appeared next to me inside the Gnome Stronghold...right next to the bank west of the agility training grounds.
  20. Do you have to have spent the points on the skill to make one to use one or can they be bought? I suppose I could wait to find out in-game, but the thought crossed my mind and I think this is a nice place to ask before logging in...
  21. I'm pretty sure you can't take cabbages through the gates inside sacks, too. That means that you should definitely fill up your inventory with cabbages when you have decided that you need to pay the diamond to go through the gates, but by no means are you going to get a good return on your cabbage carrying.
  22. Some others... Your mention of the prayer altar task should include that you must have less than full prayer points when praying to get credit. You do not actually have to create anything from the churn, just click to make something (anything) with milk, butter, or cream in your inventory...if you click to move away from the churn after the animation starts, you still get credit. The task for the candle maker says "Trade him" when it should probably just say "buy a candle from him" or say "select the trade option" or even "trade with him" instead. You should mention that the coal does not have to be mined at the coal mine...just deposited there, which would allow for someone to take a beast of burden and a full inventory of coal and complete it without mining in a couple of trips. The earth elemental must be a free roaming one and not one that starts attacking when "mined" in the mine. You correctly mention that a person must use a regular longbow, but you left out that prayer of any kind is okay...I only mention it because the listing for the task is quite in depth (so it's not as if you're leaving the player to their own devices) and shouldn't mention something about how many arrows (when that's something a player will easily find out on their own). I might also mention that a bow and arrows can be bought downstairs, or alternatively that any bow and arrow can be used to weaken the tower guards (yourself) but you must strike the killing blow with a regular longbow. The tickets (1k of them) do not have to even be on your person. Many of mine were in the bank when I got credit for them. As the previous post mentioned, it doesn't have to be a pyrelord...just a creature that can light fires...so the forge regent would work (though it may require a higher summoning level). I'm pretty sure you have to cook the bass successfully IN Catherby. I cut my five yews in the garden area of the church while using a protect prayer to drain m prayer below full and got credit...that area will work as well. You don't have to say teleport back to Zanaris...just mention that you have to teleport from MacGrubors not TO MacGrubors wood to get credit. The magic log fire doesn't have to be started on the street. That mention makes it confusing and dangerous...just within the town proper or within steps of the bank would be more clear. The magic shortbow can be noted. Any mention of cooking should include SUCCESSFULLY cook. It says take your headband to...but do players have to wear the headband to get their daily flax or just have it in the inventory...I was wearing mine, so I don't know if it could be gained in any other way. These are a few observations and some of them I included in a post in the help and advice forum: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=779957
  23. Back when I had two completely untrained skills, it put all the points into summoning and none into hunter. Next week, it put it into hunter and not anything else. Perhaps it goes from the bottom of your level list (as appearing in the game interface)...which would mean construction would be next if that hadn't been trained at all? I can't be completely 100 percent sure, because I've never tried to be a "pure". 'Pures' should absolutely avoid this game at all costs.
  24. It's from a quest...you go up on the roof by using a ladder in the room with the spinning wheel. Since this topic has "spoilers" as a topic...it's a headband (worn in the helmet spot) that does not have particularly useful combat stats (if that's what you're asking). It doesn't count because you have to light MAPLE logs. Pyrelords DO in fact count, because that's what I used when lighting a maple log in town. You can light your magic logs in any way...just as long as you have the correct firemaking level. You can get a bucket of milk in so many ways, it's not worth mentioning. Again, the cider is in unlimited supply for anyone starting the Royal Trouble quest (in the dungeon/basement pub of Miscellania) I suppose you can use iron arrows with a regular longbow. You can use protection prayers, range boosting prayers, range potion, poisoned arrows...you can even use your favorite bow to weaken the ranger that you choose and then switch to iron/bronze arrows and a regular longbow for the killing blow. You just have to kill one guard from each tower with a longbow. I thought the prayer thing would be simply explainable, but if you did that part right after visiting the ranging tower, then you'd probably be all set. I chose to cut my five yew "sets" of logs right outside with mage protect on to get below my prayer level and boost. That brings up another point...when RuneScape says five "sets" they just mean five inventory places (since the image appears to be three stacked logs in a pyramid). You are right about the tickets...I couldn't figure out why I didn't get a message when I got to 1000...it's because I had some in my bank that meant the congratulations came earlier than I was watching for. I did buy a coif because it was the cheapest...good call on the tip. As previously mentioned...MAPLE logs and your familiar. I chose the pyrelord. For the magic logs, you have to make sure you have a high enough firemaking level.
