  1. Raw salmon goes great with baked or mashed potatoes, add some pepper and a teaspoon of butter & a salad side-dish. It's a common dish in nordic countries, I only learned to appreciate it at age 12 or so. Thought it's basically eating cold slimy lumps before that. It depends what kind of rice is in a sushi, IMO dark rice or underboiled tastes absolutely repugnant with all kinds of fish
  2. Same here, but I'd probably need some heavy brain modification or antidepressants if I had to outlive everyone I know & they couldn't share an eternal life. People go crazy enough in a decade if all their close relatives and friends die; I don't want to know what a wreck such a human would be after 100-200 years of being practically 'alone'. If you think of it, nothing in life matters if other people besides you don't exist (although I realize if your relatives died, there would still be billions of people alive). Without other humans, all you're left with is materials and objects.. How long can you spend time with machines, knowledge and gadgets until you'd realize how pointless it is, if nobody is there to share your experiences and discuss their own opinions
  3. The myth that humans only use 10% of their brain (or like some say, 1-3%) is just that, a myth http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=peo ... t-of-brain
  4. Speed is the sole and only reason, I thought that was pretty self-evident. It loads faster than any other browser I used for years. Try it if you're in doubt. Really, why use another browser for purely cosmetical reasons if it's slower? (Unless you just like some extensions, like dsavi_x4)
  5. Funnily enough, it actually works both ways in reality, because those red areas (Calabria and Sicily) despite the rich food culture, are home to the more unlawful elements of society you really wouldn't want to live amongst
  6. Technically that's true for the Navy SEAL group, and the special forces of most NATO countries use a similar rigorous training routines.. But they do usually get 15-30 minutes of sleep in chunks as a reward for completing certain parts of the training, so it's not 'really' a straight week without sleep. It does test a man (or woman) to his extreme limits, a lot of recruits fall off in that stage of the training when they have to dive & fetch objects, swim to a target in certain time limits, walk around in soaking wet clothes, deprived of sleep and proper nutrition etc., I definitely couldn't do it without months of preparation & I respect those guys a lot. It takes a lot more than some brute killing machine with no emotions to go through with the training, it demands extreme concentration, willpower and mental fortitude. Probably 99% of the general population isn't ready for that kind of training.
  7. I downloaded the Chrome browser today, after using Opera and Mozilla browsers for years.. I can easily say without shame it has better performance and smoother browsing. Fanboyism is bad for advancement.. Sure, I like the idea of FF/Opera in general, but I think I'll be using Chrome for a long time until something better comes out. Don't know about you guys, but at least to me, facts and experience are what matter. Chrome instantly proved to be superior to other browsers I used in the past. It also renders heavy pages extremely quick. There's really no reason for not using it, the interface is ridiculously easy to understand, you can even import all settings from previous browsers. It's the Bugatti Veyron, the purple diamond, the Cohiba cigar of current browsers. In other words it's superior to anything else on the market... In all it's modesty and light size.
  8. Not only is that a forum mod & not an official Jagex mod, this group is doing none of the below: They're not pretending to buy anything, they have the financial capacity for it like normal merchants. They hold onto an item until the demand rises, just like people who bought hats/santas when they were cheaper To quote the site The price rising is a natural market reaction and doesn't happen instantly, once again, no official Jagex staff or more importantly, the 15 rules upon which players can be banned or blackmarked, mention anything about it Like rule 5 says that's scamming, I registered a test account on his site & they don't have that modus operandi. They only buy a selected item in large quantities to increase it's demand That's scamming too, like said, unless they actually make dozens of posts with inflated prices for items, they've done nothing legally wrong. I don't defend this guy or even know him, but what he's doing doesn't conflict with any of the known rules Jagex has set forward. If an action isn't defined on http://www.runescape.com/kbase/view.ws? ... of_conduct, we have no basis to remove it. (3rd party applications on the other hand, are an entirely different issue which is defined in the rules like you said) Either way, advertise your things here, or here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=144061
  9. I looked through all 15 rules and there isn't a rule against it, the closest one is this If they are just buying items as his site says Illegal price manipulation as set forward by mods on Runescape.com forums includes deceptful sales (such as claiming to sell something you don't own), or claiming something is rare/cheap while it isn't. Of the 15 official Jagex rules and the forums, there is no mention of legally buying items & later selling them at a profit after their demand increases.
  10. + prostitutes, dry ice, legal hallucinogens, and pseudoephedrine (in some states). lol Pseudoephedrine is a pharmaceutical drug.. But I didn't know about dry ice, mustn't apply for all countries. I know of overclockers who even bought liquid nitrogen silos & are only 15-16 years old, a lot of them use dry ice for lesser overclocking too.
  11. Well, first, not to nitpick but you'd "capitalise" something.. Here's a typical article using the words 'evolution' and 'creation', I hope it clarifies something. After all we're not here to make some dumb grammar-nazi fight over punctuation and grammar.. You can learn new stuff on forums too http://news.scotsman.com/world/Can-evol ... 4777177.jp As said, concepts are not capitalised. Someone might argue 'God' is only a concept too, but generally it's always capitalised (whereas 'gods' or 'godly' are not).
  12. I don't know if you're being serious, without even going into the scientific and curricular basis of evolution or the historical basis of the death penalty (which has been around for thousands of years), all of the above is horribly linguistically inaccurate. You don't capitalise "death penalty", "gay marriage", "evolution, "creation" in any single country on Earth. Try a quick Google search http://www.google.com/search?q=the+death+penalty Only if every single word in a title is capitalised for easy reading, those phrases are capitalized too. In normal usage, concepts are never capitalised like in your example. It's improper usage and you'd get marks off a test were you to use capitalised letters in that fashion on official school reports or exams.
  13. You don't need a permission/a certain age to buy any consumer items that aren't alcohol, firearms, tobacco, pharmaceutic drugs, indecent/rated material, or plane, cruise & gambling tickets. Ok, that's plenty of items 'off limits' until 18/21 years old, but jewelry doesn't fall into that category, you're safe.
  14. Uh.. Global warming has absolutely nothing to do with Al Gore, besides him making people more aware of the phenomena. It has been happening for over a hundred years. http://ipcc-wg1.ucar.edu/wg1/Report/AR4 ... nt_SPM.pdf It's not his idea or even really a concept, it's an ongoing process in nature which in modern ages is partially affected by humans and the industrial pollution they create. Global warming is a phrase defined exactly by the words in which make it up, I believe that is what separates it from a "invented" or trademarked idea. For example, El Niño is another weather phenomenon but given a non-apparent name probably chosen by its' founder. e.g: If I discovered that bananas are getting sweeter all over the world, and I decided to make it public and referred to this phenomenon as "banana sweetness gain" it wouldn't automatically turn that phrase into a proper noun. Exactly my point.. In that case you wouldn't capitalize "Banana Sweetness Gain" in any case, unless you wanted to look unprofessional and inaccurate. Those words just describe the phenomena, it's not an actual "trademark" or a given name like the El-Niño phenomena of increased flash floods, sudden drought, etc.
  15. Wal-Mart is indeed capitalized.. Tip.it isn't. Go http://www.tip.it/runescape/ and check the title bar. It's not set in stone though, in some articles it's capitalized, in others it isn't.
  16. I occassionally use my first name too :P But what are the chance of "Richard", "William" and "Montgomery" playing the same game of CS while being in the same clan, having the equal skill level & repeatedly dying against you? Sometimes it's pretty obvious when bots are in the room regardless of the prefix the host set for them, to appear as if it were a clan
  17. Fixed. It's so annoying, because some languages capitalize and some don't. In Swedish and Finnish weekdays, months, and nationalities aren't capitalized, so I have to change every time I switch. Fix'd some more. Exactly what I mean... :P http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/10/ ... index.html President is not capitalized in the middle of a sentence.. http://www.reuters.com/article/environm ... 0G20081211 Neither is global warming. It seems Americans have a misconception that "important things" somehow have to be capitalized, which is totally incorrect.
  18. I don't mind either show & watched both when I was younger.. But Angel is by far a more professional & interesting series even though they largely have the same actors. Buffy just seems geared exclusively towards college kids. Angel on the other hand takes a beating every now and then, and actually has to work to get solutions to his problems. True Blood isn't bad, I actually watched the 12 ep's of the first season. The story of Bill the vampire and that girl (Sookie/Sooky?) is pretty interesting... But that guy with a cajun english accent turns out to be some sort of freak. -.- wont spoil it if somebody watches TB
  19. After using Opera and going back/forward on web pages by clicking & holding mouse buttons, and having every page cached ready... It's really hard to go to a sluggish browser like IE. I got 10mbps down, and Opera pretty much opens every page like this topic, instantly. I'll try Chrome though, those figures don't lie... Would be interesting to have even *more* speed.
  20. Seems like so, with a set prefix ["Cevo"] for the bots. Next to nobody uses names like Cecil/Ilysses/Elmer (typical names autocreated by source engine), let alone 2 people in the same game game. In that case it's not really impressive. Personally I never saw the point behind playing against automatic bots when there are real opponents available :P They're pretty horrible even for practice, unless you're just beginning FPS gaming and need to work on aiming
  21. Herr/Anesthesia had a point at the time of writing that sticky, but the reality is most people who know how to diagnose their system or even find out all the specs, don't post many questions on Tech & Computers. In a lot of cases users don't even know their connection speed or how much RAM they have, so it's pretty useless to tell them to make BIOS configuration changes or remove unused registry keys with regedit. The main thing here, really, is getting the problem fixed. (Of course, if someone just types "HELP MY PC IS SLOW WAT I DO", that doesn't qualify as a topic, because slowness can be caused by so many things or recent actions)
  22. I know it's not really much of a solution, but instead of WoW that's probably WC2/III, and you should know playing RS2 in high-detail with a 800mhz processor will more likely than not bring your whole computer to a crawl even if you turn off anti-alias and special effects. The screensaver isn't much of a problem, set it to blank in display settings. A somewhat-proper single core 1.5ghz costs no more than about $40-$80 these days, it would significantly improve your performance (as would a good graphics card, but RS isn't fortunately too dependent on it)
